INTRODUCTION MEDIA’s Importance The word media comes from the word medium which signifies mode or carrier. Media primarily aims at addressing and addressing a large group of target audience. This word was initially used with respect to books and newspapers, mainly the print media. Over the years due to advancement of technology, media now covers many mediums such as television, movies, radio and the internet. The media’s role in this society is fundamentally a function of how this society chooses to use the media. In the present world due to the thirst of knowledge media has become a necessity in one’s life. Media nowadays plays a very crucial role in creating and shapping of the general public. Today media acts as a watchdog to protect public interests against malpractices and create public awareness. It can be called the sword arm of Democracy. In today’s date the life of a common man life a living hell due to many politicians misusing their positions, an evil network of mafia and crime syndicate, and the money paid as tax by the same common man is being siphoned out for the personal gain of few …show more content…

Media is considered as "mirror" of the modern society and it is the media which shapes our lives. The purpose of the media is to inform people about current, new affairs and to tell about the latest gossip and fashion. It tells about the people who are geographically divided. From decades media has been an integral part of human civilization. From the days of Vedas and Upanishads to edicts of kings and emperors like Chandragupta, Asoka to the medieval Indian mass gatherings to the modern day’s audio video and print media, media has always taken a pivotal role in shaping our society.
