Chapter-1 Introduction Lifter is a machine constructed to lift the weight & object. It also use to move the loads from one place to another place. It is constructed by using various channel section which support the main lifting mechanism. lifter can be operated using various types power sources like 1) Hydraulic 2) pneumatic 3) Mechanical 4) Electrical 5) Vacuum 1.) Hydraulic Hydraulic mechanism uses liquids to transmit and distribute forces to various units to be actuated. Liquids are able to do this because they are incompressible. Pascal’s Law states that pressure applied to any part of a confined liquid is transmitted with undiminished intensity to every other part. Various components used in hydraulic mechanism: a. Hydraulic pump : A hydraulic pump is a mechanical …show more content…
Air compressor : it is used to compress the air for the usage b. Pneumatic cylinder : it uses the compress air and covert into linear force c. Pressure sensor : it is used to measure the pressure of air in the system d. Pressure regulator : it cuts off the suplly of air at particular pressure e. Vacuum pump : it is used to create vacuum This similar to hydraulic lifting mechanism,it also consists of cylinder & piston arrangement .The difference is just that it uses air as pressurizing medium instead of the hydraulic fluid. But pneumatic mechanism can not take as much load as hydraulic lifter because of air compressibility .But besides this , it provides clean operation and it uses in food processing unit, medicine industries etc. 3.) Mechanical Manual lifter uses the manual power to lift the load. This types of lifters are operated with the hand or foot force and it uses mechanical parts such as gears, chains, sporckets. This Mechanism uses various mechanical components like lead screws ,gears ,chains etc. to lift the weight or load. 4.)
The air packed column was connected to the center packed column with medium length nipple and an elbow joint connected a copper pipe to a thin silicon pipe. At the same time a silicon pipe, attached to the air packed column, was connected to the air valve, and with a small nipple a control valve and flowmeter are attached. Then a small nipple attached to the flowmeter is connected to the pressure gauges where attached to the air packed tower.
The term biomechanics means the study of the structure and function of biological systems using the methods of mechanics. Biomechanics studies the process of kinematics and develops artificial limbs and footwear specifically to aid the body in performance. The study of biomechanics also includes the stress testing on crash dummies in car accidents and any sport where stress is placed on the body in order to produce performance. The type of stress specifically is the joint stimulation and bone modeling stress.
Air pressure can be defined as the impact air has against all the surfaces the molecules of air touches, and is measured in Pascals – one Newton per square
chamber used as a control will be used to measure any changes due to air
Pitless elevator lifts are a great addition to your home. They can help you if you are experiencing mobility problems or if you just need to be able to get upstairs quickly. If you will not be using it for residential use, you can
The schematic diagram of an electro-hydraulic servo valve is illustrated in Fig. 1. This electro-hydraulic servo valve consists of two stages, first stage is double nozzle–flapper valve which consists of a toque motor, a flapper, two nozzles, and a feedback spring, and the second stage is a precision ground 4 way spools.
A good example of this is the spring pole which originally was operated by the weight and strength of three or more men, this was replaced with a modern all steel rig “which is powered with an internal-combustion engine, electric motor or steam engine” Kurtz, et al (1940). This mechanical advancement has continued during this period; however man power was still required in drilling practices regardless the advancement.
The barometer is a device for measuring the total pressure of the atmosphere. A primitive barometer can easily be constructed by taking a glass tube about a meter long, sealing one end, filling the tube completely with mercury, placing your thumb firmly over the open end, and carefully inverting the tube into an open dish filled with mercury. The mercury will fall to a height independent of the diameter of the tube and a vacuum will be created above it.
It is equipped with 28 interlocking hydraulic joints which give it much freedom to move its hands, arms, legs, feet and upper torso. Its hands come with special sensors for location and photography.
Pneumatic actuator mainly consists of a piston, cylinder, and valves and ports. The piston is covered by a diaphragm or seal which keeps the air in the upper portion of the cylinder allowing air pressure to force the diaphragm downward moving the piston underneath which turn moves the valve stem, which is linked to the internal parts of the actuator. Pneumatic actuators may only have one spot for a signal input, top or bottom, depending on action
Pascal's Law states that the "Pressure applied to any part of a confined fluid transmits to every other part with no loss. The pressure acts with equal force on all equal areas of the confining walls and perpendicular to the walls. This is the basic principle for any hydraulic system. In other words, if you have a fluid enclosed in a pipe (with no air bubbles) and change the pressure in the fluid at one end of the pipe, the pressure changes all throughout the pipe to
Each of the six basic styles of robot used in industry today were designed with different applications in mind. Some of the robots were designed for assembly, others are more suited for simple pick and place applications, while a select few are capable of carrying heavy loads over a large area.
Risers fall under the category of motorized recliners for uplift and recline. . Riser recliners possess electric motor within, which are connected to wall socket .The requirement for the chair is that it requires ample space and positioned away from walls. Two types of motors are used for making riser recliners either a single motor or a dual motor. Single motored recliners as the name suggest has a single motor which is used for reclining and rising of chair. In case of dual motor recliners, one motor controls the chair and the other functions the footrest. Remote options are are available for riser recliners
It became much lighter easier to maneuver over the years. Mike brick invented a tool that had the ability to spread, cut, push, and retract. This tool became known as the Phoenix Rescue Tool. The tools were operated under the power of hydraulic pumps integrated into small gasoline engines with hoses that connect the pump to the tool. The use of hydraulic power was able to offer safe yet practical and extreme strength. Spreaders can have a force of over 100,000 lbs of force and cutters can exert over 80,000 lbs. Now these hydraulic tools do not have to have a hydraulic pump and engine which can be cumbersome to carry and long hydraulic hoses that can get tangled. They can be operated by foot or hand pumps, and even rechargeable batteries without diminishing the effectiveness of the tool by reducing the power. They can be used not only to extricate victims from tangled vehicles, they are now utilized in almost every aspect of the fire services from being able to stabilize vehicles to being used in USAR operations and even being able to force entry into a
