Why do you eat a burger? The flavor? Lab Meat is meat made from a cell in a cow. It is suppose to completely better than the traditional way of growing of cows. Traditional way is actually better than lab-produced meat. Traditional way is better for you health. The traditional way is also cheaper than lab meat. The traditional way has more variety along with it is better for the environment. So let's see how the traditional way is better in detail.
One big question you have to ask is is this lab-grown meat good for our health. According to The Atlantic health section, eating their lab-grown meats can lead to a higher risk of heart disease, diabetes, and some kinds of cancer. Desley White ,lecturer in dietetics at Plymouth University, stated

It is the complete opposite. Lab produced meat is very expensive to produce, The lab made meat cost 80 dollars a kilo. A kilo converts to about 2.2 pounds. That means you would be going to buy a burger and it would cost you 20 bucks to buy a quarter pounder. So, they take a piece of muscle off the cow then can produce 10 thousand kilos of meat out of that so it would cost 800 thousand dollars to produce that. It cost about 500 to raise a cow for a year . You can sell a cow for about 675 dollars so you are making about 175 dollars profit for growing a cow and killing it to sell the meat. A normal cow produces about 650 pounds of meat when killed and packaged according to ODA State(ODA.State.Edu) . They means it is making about 300 kilos of meat each cow while making profit. Yes, you might be making more meat producing it through a lab but you are not making money and it is worse for your health.Traditional growing of cows it helping out our economy while lab produced meat will be hurting it. This lab-created meat will also take enormous capital investment for Research & Development. Now let's hear how lab-created meat is hurting our …show more content…
The is limited to ground meat only. That means you won't be able to eat any other type of meat just a hamburger. Then there is the animal activists. They everyday to get the slaughtering of animals. Lab-produced meat might seem cruelty-free but it isn't according to The Independent Magazine(Connor 2012). So, you are slaughtering the animal for the bovine stem cells then just disposing of the corpse. The animal could be used for a benefit if you stayed with the traditional way. A tissue-engineering researcher ebem said “if you ask anyone who has worked in a lab, will tell you it will never going to happen.” Scientist and engineers don't even believe the product will make it to the public as a main source of meat because of the amount of energy and resources that go into it. It will take more energy to produce lab meat and which we most likely burn fossil fuels to get that energy which will contribute to Global Warming. This meat will not help our environment any more and it will only supply us with one type of meat.
All in all, Traditional growing of cows is better than lab-created meat. Traditional growing is healthy. Lab-meat has some foreseen health consequences but it has a lot of unforeseen health consequences according to independent.co.uk. Traditional growing of meat is also cheaper than lab-grown meat. It cost 80 dollars to just produce one kilo of meat. The hamburger
... flesh are then ground into a paste-like matter, which is cleansed with the previously mentioned ammonia to rid it of E. coli. The meat filler product is purchased by many fast food restaurants, such as McDonald’s. The Beef Products executive predicts that his product will be in 100% of hamburgers within the next five years.
In today's society, organic food is a giant new thing in which food is produced without any chemicals. In other words, the product must be 100 percent natural. A major food source of the American people is meat, and the way that it is produced today is a major issue. In feedlots, where cattle are fed grain to grow before being slaughtered, the conditions are terrible and horrifying. Cattle are confined to a limited amount of space and not allowed to roam freely. Also in these cattle growing yards, the risk of disease is much higher in these animals than out on the open range grazing on the grass. Beef critics say that there are no cattle breeds that posses the amounts of marbling present to make a good steak. It is a true statement to say that these critics are very indeed wrong. Also, Many people also do not know that that the meat from cattle that are fed grain, is high in fat content and has too much marbling. Grass-fed beef is much leaner than grain-fed beef, has less fats, and is produced all naturally. Therefore, grass-fed beef is much healthier and safer to eat than grain-fed beef.
Next time you have dinner with your family, truly appreciate the flavor and quality of the food. Whether any of this is ethical remains an opinion. Religious organizations claim it is malicious to human society and wishes one to avoid these products. Biotechnology companies such as Senomyx tell us that all of it is ethical, and perhaps it is. The future of the biotechnology industry is hard to see but surely the flavorings we all experience must come from somewhere. While the reality may not be as extreme as the subject may infer, keep in mind that the rumors are both true and false all at the same time.
When it comes to the pros and cons of factory farming, according to a non-profit organization called Farm Sanctuary, the cons definitely outweigh the pros. Food production in the United States today is dominated by factory farms, and their treatment of animals has been downright abusive. The usual farm consists of small, hugely overpopulated living spaces for the animals, and they are considered commodities to get more money rather than a living animal. Almost all of the animals undergo extreme amounts of mutilation at the hands of the farm workers and they usually cause chronic and/or extreme amounts of pain to the animals because they are usually done without any form of pain relief for the animals. All of this abuse towards the animals is all so the farmers can maximize the output of the products they get from the animals, and the animals’ bodies cannot support the overgrowth and they usually form painful, debilitating deformities from it. The areas in and around these large farms are generally extremely polluted from the extreme
In the book Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer, the author talks about, not only vegetarianism, but reveals to us what actually occurs in the factory farming system. The issue circulating in this book is whether to eat meat or not to eat meat. Foer, however, never tries to convert his reader to become vegetarians but rather to inform them with information so they can respond with better judgment. Eating meat has been a thing that majority of us engage in without question. Which is why among other reasons Foer feels compelled to share his findings about where our meat come from. Throughout the book, he gives vivid accounts of the dreadful conditions factory farmed animals endure on a daily basis. For this reason Foer urges us to take a stand against factory farming, and if we must eat meat then we must adapt humane agricultural methods for meat production.
Is it possible to come up with an all-inclusive evaluation to contrast the positives of meat consumption with the negative consequences of meat production? And is there a simple answer to the question: are the benefits of eating the factory-farmed meat greater than the undesirable cost of producing it?
Factory farming has changed drastically over past 6 decades. We often believe that our food comes from a peaceful, happy farm, but in reality farm animals are put through misery on a daily basis. Regardless of whether it is an independent farm or contracted farm, livestock is mistreated and then harvested for meat or dairy production. The way production animals are treated on factory farms should change for the safety of the animals and the people who consume them.
Today it seems that if it is white and fatty then it is good enough, no matter how it is made or where it comes from. According Mike Ewall, affiliated with the United States Justice Network, present day cows are now given the recombinant...
According to “Meat the Truth”, a 2007 documentary directed by Karen Soeters, the film exposes the consequences of meat and dairy. It influences people about increasing the consumption of a plant-based diet and decreasing the intake of meat. Marianne Thieme, the narrator of the documentary and a Dutch politician who is a Member of the Party for the Animals in the Dutch Parliament, states, “Eating meat is the number one most environmentally destructive behavior, not cars, planes and power plants”. A consumer can make a great impact by changing their diet and restricting the consumption of meat. The transition to a plant-based diet is strongly informed by the film. Consumers have fallen into the advertising and marketing of meat to trigger minds the satisfaction of meat. Statistics from the Food and Agriculture Organization prove that from 1950 to 2000, the population of the world went from 2.6 to 6 billion and from this meat production increased five times as great. It is possible it can keep doubling this amount every fifty years if there isn’t a change that occurs. From the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, they state, “The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that roughly 80 percent of ammonia emissions in the U.S. come from animal waste.” Raising animals to

Today’s medical experts say that avoiding meat helps you avoid saturated fat. They have found out from studies that women who eat meat daily have a fifty percent greater risk of developing heart disease than vegetarian women and a sixty-eight percent greater risk in men (staff writer). People may not know about serious diseases meat can cause such as, mad cow disease and foot-and-mouth disease. In the September 1999 issue of the Emerging Infectious Diseases, approximately 76 million food-borne illnesses- resulting in 325,000 hospitalizations and 5,000 deaths occur in the United States each year from improperly cooked or diseased meat (Licher). That is a lot of fun!
In April 2008 the In Vitro Consortium first met at the Norwegian Food Research Institute. The consortium is “an international alliance of environmentally concerned scientists striving to facilitate the establishment of a large scale process industry for the production of muscle tissue for human consumption through concerted R&D efforts and attraction of funding fuels to these efforts.”Meat in both its production and its consumption has a number of destructive effects on not only the environment and humans but also live stock. Some of these effects are antibiotic resistant bacteria due to the overuse of antibiotics in livestock, meat-borne pathogens (e. coli), and diseases associated with diets rich in animal fats (diabetes). Meat consumption all over the world is increasing making meat a global issue. As a result many researchers have been trying to create meat substitutes to minimize the impact of consumption. Substitutes, to date, have been made from soybeans, peas, or even from animal tissues grown in a culture.
Animal testing has a positive past, but is extremely controversial. Many people agree and disagree with it. Modern society would be suffering from rare diseases without it, including tuberculosis and polio. Many companies, from cosmetic companies to home improvement companies test their products on animals. Many animal tests often require animals to be killed, and/or experience pain, discomfort, and isolation. Many countries around the world are looking to stop animal testing, and many alternatives that are cheaper, more accurate, and humane exist and are being improved. Animal testing is no longer needed in our world, as many cheaper, humane, faster, and more reliable alternatives have been discovered and may even improve, which can eliminate animal testing once and for all.
It is important to know how animal testing is performed, before analyzing its effects in the physical and mental health of human beings. The conditions of animals in a lab are worse than most people could imagine. When they are in a lab, some are forced to inhale toxic
Has it ever crossed your mind what it would be like to be a laboratory animal? Over 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused in U.S labs every year. You've most likely heard of animal testing but perhaps aren't completely sure what it is. Animal testing is the experimentation carried out on animals used to "assess the safety and effectiveness of everything from medication to cosmetics, as well as understanding how the human body works." However, there is more that goes on behind the scenes throughout these experimentations. Overall, it is more often than not cruel, produces inaccurate results, is immoral, and should be banned; allow me to elaborate.
