Many people have different perspectives when it comes to the topic of love. The word love has been tossed around by everybody and not very many people really understand the true meaning of love. There are some exceptions, but I think this is especially true for teenagers and young adults. I might be one of those people who do not fully understand the topic of love, but I hope to better understand the topic of love and its true meaning is this course. First, you need to differentiate that love for someone and a love for something is completely different. I have a deep love for sports and they have always been a part of my life but that love is no match for the love of my family. Love for material items can be strong but many things that you once loved as a child or teenager might mean nothing to you today. Material love can still be deep but it is not always everlasting and usually does not continue throughout your life. Love for someone is a much deeper love than the love for a material item and it should be treated that way but for the purposes of this paper, I will be talking mostly about love for someone. I think one reason why people use the word love so carelessly is because of what our culture portrays it as in books and movies. Love is portrayed as more of just a feeling that can come and go and has no real meaning behind it. You see so many examples in books and on television of married couples having affairs with each other but constantly expressing their love for one another. It makes no sense to the real meaning of love and just portrays to the audiences that love really does not have much meaning behind
