Many people have different perspectives when it comes to the topic of love. The word love has been tossed around by everybody and not very many people really understand the true meaning of love. There are some exceptions, but I think this is especially true for teenagers and young adults. I might be one of those people who do not fully understand the topic of love, but I hope to better understand the topic of love and its true meaning is this course. First, you need to differentiate that love for someone and a love for something is completely different. I have a deep love for sports and they have always been a part of my life but that love is no match for the love of my family. Love for material items can be strong but many things that you once loved as a child or teenager might mean nothing to you today. Material love can still be deep but it is not always everlasting and usually does not continue throughout your life. Love for someone is a much deeper love than the love for a material item and it should be treated that way but for the purposes of this paper, I will be talking mostly about love for someone. When it comes to love the first thing I think about, and what many people I believe my age thinks about are relationships, romance, family, and marriage. There are some …show more content…
I think one reason why people use the word love so carelessly is because of what our culture portrays it as in books and movies. Love is portrayed as more of just a feeling that can come and go and has no real meaning behind it. You see so many examples in books and on television of married couples having affairs with each other but constantly expressing their love for one another. It makes no sense to the real meaning of love and just portrays to the audiences that love really does not have much meaning behind
Most People tend to misconstrue the true meaning of love. They have a generalized ideology that love is all about having a romantic affair with the opposite gender. A scripture from the Holy Bible states that “ Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs” (1 Corinthians 13: 4-5).
For centuries, love has been explored by writers, philosophers, artists, and musicians. Love is a universal emotion experienced worldwide. Today, the concept of love is viewed as an abstract noun to describe the strong attraction to another person, however, for many ancient cultures love was a means to their being. Their concept of love was viewed as a powerful force that influences their behavior. They used love to explain justice and moral behaviors.
... like…togetherness or something”. Their definition of love contains key intimacy characteristics with definitions like “integral part of whom you are”, “deep connection”, “happiness”, and “togetherness”. This individual touches upon love in a much more meaningful and emotional closeness compared to the previous individual who’d described it in a more physical and excitable manner. This form of love follows passion, and plays a role in the future commitment of two individuals. Like passion, this concept is also a stepping stone towards allowing young adults to complete their task of intimacy vs. isolation. Intimacy greatly influences romantic relationships, and is a concept that many young adults preoccupy themselves with during their development.
What is love? It seems to be a pretty simple word, but there is so much meaning behind it. Love is difficult to define, difficult to measure, and frequently difficult to understand. Love is what great writers write about; great philosophers wonder about; singers sing about. Love is a very powerful emotion. Love saves; love conquers; love creates. Love is passion that cannot be controlled. Both poems we have read, Waiting for Icarus and One Art, tell us how love alters human minds and hearts, making people in love struggle with the desire to remain in control of themselves and with the scary feeling of “losing themselves”.
Love is said to be one of the most desired things in life. People long for it, search for it, and crave it. It can come in the form of partners, friends, or just simply family. To some, love is something of a necessity in life, where some would rather turn a cold shoulder to it. Love can be the mixture of passion, need, lust, loyalty, and blood. Love can be extraordinary and breathtaking. Love being held so high can also be dangerous. Love can drive people to numerous mad things with it dangerously so full of craze and passion.
The word love is usually misused or misinterpreted. There are numerous meanings and definitions to this overly used word. Not many of them make much sense to me. Love is a feeling of complete bliss. Love is something that can’t be touched or bought, but is something that is much better than money and earthly objects. I can stay here and describe love all day long and still have so much more to say about this word days later. Love isn’t a word that should be used lightly, but usually is. I believe that love is the most commonly used, but most understood word ever known
The word “love” has always caught attention with its meanings. There have been many definitions used for this word throughout history, beginning with its start during the ninth century. With the examples of current use(from Urban Dictionary, Twitter, a student survey, a song, and a film) it is obvious that the definition of this word has been lost in translation in many different ways. Looking closely at the synonyms, along with the history and current use, the true definition is clearly seen through a usual worldly haze.
Love is perhaps the most widely used but also most ambiguous words in the English language. In modern culture, it penetrates almost every corner of public and private life, yet if one were to ask its meaning of even three different people, there would likely be discontinuity between the answers. While it is possible to define the word “love” based on its grammatical operation, to understand its full meaning or lack thereof, deeper examination is required. Love is used both as a noun and a verb in modern English, yielding several subcategories such as action, feeling, or even person. By analyzing each of the different applications of the word “love,” one can come to a clearer understanding of what it means and how it can be applied in everyday life.
To better understand the concept of "love", lets define the value of love. Love is the most valuable commodity in the world. We all need love just like a fish needs water. Without love, life would not be worth living. With love in our lives, we are empowered beyond belief.
At least once in their life a person will cross the path of love. They will find someone they feel deeply affectionate for and in some cases the feeling will remain throughout the rest of their life. Love has always overlapped the lives of many, creating both happiness and sadness. As time has moved forward love has also moved forward and is constantly being shaped by four key factors. These four factors are race, identity, gender, and religion. Similarly to these factors shaping love they also shape and inform the community. The reason for this is because love and the community coexist. Love can be used to influence the community and as love is shaped and informed by race, identity, gender, and religion so is the community.
“Love is universally accepted by many people and the concept of love within the English language refers to a variety of different approaches, states and attitudes, ranging from pleasure to interpersonal attraction.” (Kendrick 123) My characterization of love encourages the intimate emotion I partake for my family. The distinct connection that we fashioned and the invaluable moments that we consolidated. In the perceptive of a mother, my children are my supremacy and the greatest blessing of my lifecycle. They’re my inspiration and motivation to continue progressing and becoming the best at what I do. With that in mind, Love relics your outlooks and approaches the linkage they become associated with. Consequently, this condition can fluctuate over a period of a specific time. Additionally, depending on your situation, your perspective on love can be an altering affect, creating a stable or inconsistent assessment. Furthermore, causing your love to intensify, decline, or even cease. Love in its essence, stands justly powerful and the beauty of it advances,
We learn to grow to live and let go but will she do it. She is a beautiful flower growing up absorbing the energy of the world. Meeting that one is a moment she wouldn't ever forget. Their eyes meet in place of one another falling into the universe, time just stops. May this be the beginning of her future.
Love is one of those things that means different things to different people. If you would look the word love up in the dictionary, you would find this: “an intense feeling of deep affection.” For some people, love can be purely romantic or even just purely sexual. For others, real love can only exist between family members or between people and a god. For some people, it is felt for your partners, family, pets, or even inanimate objects. None of the people are right or wrong, but I do know one thing, love is very powerful. Love is overused in today's world, people say they love someone because of the way they look or their body. That isn't love. To me, love is the most spectacular, indescribable, deep euphoric
Love happens when you least expect it. It can happen on the street corner, at the bar, at the grocery store, the park. That’s one of the greatest things about love. As for me I found love in the pouring down rain in the middle of the street. I fell in love with a man who I never thought in a million years I’d fall for. A man who is loving, caring and respectful. The night I laid my eyes on him I knew he was it. He came into my life at a point when I was unraveling and losing control. I was lost for two years after my high school sweetheart and I broke up, I thought I was never going to find real love, but I did. He saved me and I remember every minute from that night.
What is love? Love is a very special and meaningful word to each human being. Each human being has his/her own thoughts about love to guide himself/herself to land safely and smoothly into the kingdom of Love. Without this preconceived idea of love, people would be acting like a blind person searching for the light with thousand of obstacles in front of him.
