I have read about a handful of admirable men and women in history. Some of these people are Abraham Lincoln, an honest, courageous leader, Miep Gies, a woman full of bravery and compassion, and Todd Beamer, a man who was quickly strategic in saving thousands of lives from one of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Throughout history, many people, whether a common man or a great legend, have shown praiseworthy character. Three other examples are the persistent Martin Luther King Jr., the courageous Mohamed Bouazizi, and the generous Misha Collins.

Like Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr. was a persistent man who led hundreds of thousands of people to the gateway behind which was their freedom. King was an African American man

who spoke up for the equal rights of colored people when many were too afraid to do so. He had a seismic impact on what the future would be for any body born with darker skin. In 1964, King played a pivotal role by helping with the creation of The Civil Rights Act. For this, he received a Nobel Peace Prize along with many other honorable awards.
Because of his indestructible persistence, being arrested five times did not stop King from fighting for what was right. While serving time in prison for protesting the treatment of African Americans, he wrote one of many inspirational speeches, The Letter from Birmingham Jail. No matter how many times people tried to silence King, he kept pushing until he made the world a better place. Even after his assassination, his beliefs remained and still impacted how humans treat each other. To this very day, quotes and examples made by King are keeping the unity of The United States intact.
December 17, 2010. This date is not so significant for some people. At least, not like September 11, 2001. However, for the Tunisians, this day was the beginning of a widespread revolution that led to peace and liberty. It all began with a street vendor, Mohamed Bouazizi. Small, insignificant, negligible was all this man was. His biggest dream was to someday have enough earnings from his job to be able to just rent a truck.
The day came. The day Bouazizi would release his people from the unjust dictator, President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali. The day his country would become free. A cruel policewoman confiscated his small vegetable cart, spat in his face, and insulted his dead father. At this point, Bouazizi was frustrated. Deciding to take this matter to the government, he marched to their largely lavish and luxurious headquarters only to be denied an appointment. Following this rude gesture, Bouazizi showered gas over his body and swiftly struck a match to bring flames to his body. The flames were not the only uprise. Together, the people rose and managed to overthrow President Ali. Tunisia was free because Bouazizi stood alone and held the courage that no other was able to hold in an unbearable crisis that ached the country.
Misha Collins basically lives the dream of most people.

He is an actor with a loving wife, two kids, and a nice home. But how did he get there? Let’s start at the beginning. Collins was born into an impoverished family. Struggling to keep their home at times, he and his mother lived out on the streets. One Christmas, a neighbor gave the family one hundred dollars. It was the greatest blessing they had ever received. Collins was working with Bill Clinton when he had the sudden urge to drop everything he had, his job, his money, and his future, to take a chance on acting. Fortunately, he got signed to act on the show Supernatural for almost ten years. Now Collins has a net worth of five million dollars. Cleverly, he used his popularity among millions of people and his paycheck from acting to found the worldwide charity Random Acts. The purpose of the charity is to inspire people to do small acts of kindness for the less fortunate as much as you can. They also have many events annually that raise money for the poor. Collins has spent his life giving back to the community to show his appreciation for what it has done to help him through the most difficult times in his life.
Personally, persistence, courage, and generosity are some of the most important character traits.

Of the three, I would like to continue working on my generosity. Ever since my early childhood, I have been a “people pleaser.” I put others’ needs before mine, especially in rough situations. I will do whatever it takes to satisfy or help a people who needs it. To become a more generous person, I plan to volunteer at a hospital all summer with my brother and donate money from mowing lawns to Random Acts. Misha Collins once said, “Conquer the world one random act of kindness at a time.” I have been following this quote for years, and I plan to continue so someday I will be as generous as

he.
Character is an important factor in one’s life. Good character is what keeps the soul pure. Famous people like Martin Luther King Jr., Mohamed Bouazizi, and Misha Collins are just three examples of exceptional qualities. Anybody should strive to show these traits and conduct the behavior to practice them in his or her daily life.
