In the past 100 years there have been many historical figures. One great historical figure is Martin Luther King Jr. In the movie Troy, Priam is the king of Troy and the father of Hector. Martin Luther King Jr. and Priam have a lot of the same qualities and are very similar people. Priam and Martin Luther King have both been leaders and have both had a near death experience, been assassinated, and changed their names. Martin Luther King Jr. is a phenomenal leader and role model to a vast amount of people. King was a civil rights activist and a leader of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. A very interesting trait they both own is that they both changed their names early on in their lives. King’s birth name was originally Michael King but later changed his name to Martin Luther King. Priam’s original name was Podarces but after a brave attempt to help his sister, he changed his name to Priam. King was depressed for an enormous part of his life and at age twelve he took responsibility for a majority of the things that happened in his life and jumped out of a two story building. Priam was at an enormous battle with Heracles, but survived the attack. Sadly, both Priam and Martin Luther king Jr’s lives were taken too soon. Both of these men stood up for what they desired and what would be the best thing to do, whether it was King standing up for equal rights or Priam declaring a proper burial of his son these two men both did what they thought was right to improve the world. Priam as well as King both wanted to do what was right, even if it meant putting their lives in jeopardy. Priam and King can be compared in several different ways. Although Priam and King had several similar qualities they had a few differences as well. While Priam was king and leader of a city King was simply just a leader of the civil rights movement. MLK changed many people’s lives by standing up in front of thousands of people to share his “Dream” for America.
