In the past 100 years there have been many historical figures. One great historical figure is Martin Luther King Jr. In the movie Troy, Priam is the king of Troy and the father of Hector. Martin Luther King Jr. and Priam have a lot of the same qualities and are very similar people. Priam and Martin Luther King have both been leaders and have both had a near death experience, been assassinated, and changed their names.
Martin Luther King Jr. is a phenomenal leader and role model to a vast amount of people. King was a civil rights activist and a leader of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. There is a great deal of people who were very distressed about his death and considered King a hero. Priam was a very significant character in the movie Troy. Priam, the last king of Troy and the father of Hector. Citizens in Troy classified Priam as powerful but nice. Priam, the great king witnessed thirteen of his son’s death three of which were killed by Achilles. Priam had numerous wives and was a father of fifty sons and daughters. Priam had been stabbed and killed by Achilles during a battle. Priam is loved by tons of people and is known as a great king. Martin Luther King Jr.
and Priam have a great deal of the same qualities. One would feel that both of the men were great leaders that numerous people loved. A very interesting trait they both own is that they both changed their names early on in their lives. King’s birth name was originally Michael King but later changed his name to Martin Luther King. Priam’s original name was Podarces but after a brave attempt to help his sister, he changed his name to Priam. King was depressed for an enormous part of his life and at age twelve he took responsibility for a majority of the things that happened in his life and jumped out of a two story building. Priam was at an enormous battle with Heracles, but survived the attack. Sadly, both Priam and Martin Luther king Jr’s lives were taken too soon. Both of these men stood up for what they desired and what would be the best thing to do, whether it was King standing up for equal rights or Priam declaring a proper burial of his son these two men both did what they thought was right to improve the world. Priam as well as King both wanted to do what was right, even if it meant putting their lives in jeopardy. Priam and King can be compared in several different ways.
Although Priam and King had several similar qualities they had a few differences as well. While Priam was king and leader of a city King was simply just a leader of the civil rights movement. Priam fought numerous physical battles to defend what he needed while King fought only verbal arguments against people who opposed equal rights and what he sought. Despite the few differences, these unbelievable men can still easily be
juxtaposed. A vast amount of people categorizes King as a hero for all the selfless acts of kindness and leadership he had. Priam being the king of Troy made him an inordinate conqueror to a great deal of the individuals in the city. King in addition to Priam can both be classified as fantastic people who share a great deal of the same qualities that mark them superior. One would feel that King and Priam easily fit the description of a hero. Priam and Martin Luther King Jr. are easily comparable. King and Priam are both fastidious people. Priam and King are both similar individuals who have put an enormous amount of pride and leadership into what they classified as correct which helped to improve themselves and the world. These two men put their lives in jeopardy for anything they felt would be detrimental to the world. The actions, beliefs, and lives of these two remarkable individuals are so much alike. Although no two people are the same these two men are certainly close to it even with the very few differences they have.
Although Chris McCandless and Martin Luther King, Jr both shared a fatal death, these men had many similarities and differences between how they reached success, encountered obstacles, and left an impact towards people's lives. Some may argue that one cannot compare an american hitchhiker to a historical civil rights leader, but in further depth, both of these men had common problems. Jackson gained many accomplishments during his years as an important political leader but all those gains ended when groups like the Ku Klux Klan decided that there were no way negroes were going to obtain the same rights as they were. It was unacceptable not just for them but for the white community to be on the same level. When they decided to kill Jackson, they killed him and members of his community. King also accomplished many gains that until now we have been practicing, for example the right for African Americans to be seated anywhere on a bus, and ending segregation. King was always known for his peaceful protest and for promoting civil disobedience as one of the best methods to fight for civil rights. However, many things have changed since then, as of right now in this current year there have been many protest around the country for law enforcement brutality against the African American Community bringing an uprising of many violent protests in the country. This has brought a new movement called Black Lives Matter which seeks dignity, justice, and respect for all the African Americans in this country. Now more than ever the rising of this movement has increased due to the mass of social media involvement. Media has changed the way people think about this current situation by turning the people against cops and other law enforcement
Edwards and King both are very powerful speakers. They know how to capture their audience's attention merely through words. Both King and Edwards wanted people to change their ways, though not for the same reason. They both put all they had into their speeches making them very emotional speakers. With their words they painted pictures of what they wanted the people to think of as they listened.
The similarity between Susan B. Anthony speech and Martin Luther King Juniors “I Have a Dream” speech is that they are fighting for the equality of America. Susan B. Anthony is fighting for women being able to vote like everyone else. Martin Luther King is fighting for the equality of African Americans. Both just want to see America as an equal place instead of discrimination against others based on race or gender. Even though their message has similarities the way they delivered them was different.
In contrast, Dr. King believed in the change through nonviolent methods, influenced by Gandhi. He also showed his readiness to work with whites toward social justice. However, X and Dr. King, with their two different ideologies, wanted to attain the same goal, Afro-Americans’ freedom (Malcolm X).
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was one of the greatest civil rights leaders to ever live. Through his empowering speeches, he made a huge impact on the world for the equality of all races. Throughout King’s life, he showed everyone how he believed equality should be acquired. With his peaceful protests and amazing speeches, he influenced people both during his time and after he passed. Many believe that King’s work in the Civil Rights Movement was the final push that America needed to finally respect people no matter their skin color.
Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X were very significant during the Civil Rights Movement. Both were excellent speakers and shared one goal, but had two different ways of resolving it. Martin Luther King Jr. chose to resolve the issues by using non-violence to create equality amongst all races to accomplish the goal. Malcolm X also wanted to decrease discrimination and segregation by using another tactic to successfully accomplish the similar goal. The backgrounds of both men were one of the main driving forces behind the ways they executed their plans to rise above the various mistreatments.

Martin Luther King Jr. and John F. Kennedy were two very commendable men. They were two very different men that I feel had the same incredible amount passion for human beings. Both Dr. King and President Kennedy had such high hopes for this country and regardless of the sad and devastating time era, they both spoke with much poise and compassion.
