Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a kind-hearted world known leader who fought for the rights to be treated equal and for the end of segregation between the different races. Growing up, Martin Luther King Jr. was very intelligent. He attended a public school that was racially segregated in Georgia, graduated from high school just at the age of fifteen, and got his bachelors degree at Morehouse College in 1948 (Nobleprize.org). After studying at a seminary for three years in Pennsylvania, King was chosen to be the president of a predominately white male class. Over the years, Martin Luter King Jr. became pastor of Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama and a strong voice in the NAACP, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (nobleprize.org). While in Boston, M.L.K studied the relationship between man and God and received a doctorate in 1955 (Britannica School). During his time in Boston, King met a native Alabamian woman named Coretta Scott. She was studying at the New England Conservatory of Music. They got married in 1953 and had four children (Britannica School). After a year from becoming a pastor, Martin Luther King Jr. became a leader of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. This started due to the incident on December 1, 1955, when an African American woman named Rosa Parks, refused to give her seat on the bus to a White male (Britannica School).
