1. Analyze the article that you were assigned. For this question only, you may use point form. (30) 1. President Barak Obama wants to send American Astronauts back into space. 2. The fiscal year 2016 had a $2.4 million request. 3. There is a $519m increase from the 2015 fiscal year. 4. Obama wants NASA to run on a budget of $18.5 million in 2016. 5. Obama wants to change the NASA budget to prioritize different projects. 6. To make these changes Obama needed to make cuts to other projects of NASA. 7. The Mars Opportunity Rover will be effected by the budget by being cut from funding. 8. The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter would be another project that would be cut off. 9. The Commercial Crew Programme would also be cut from funding. 10. The Mars Rover and Lunar Orbiter could still operate, the mission was not cancelled but as soon as repairs are needed it cannot happen because there is no funding. 11. American are currently …show more content…
If the budget is agreed on then the Mars mission is not canceled but there will be no funding and the Mars Rover is not in good shape if anything were to happen there would be no way to fix it (Amos). Other impacts of this cut will be what other programs will be effected that were not mentioned in the article, for example will there be a mission to Europa with these cuts. Europa is one of the most promising plants for sustaining life and there is no mention of it in the article. Also Americans have the goal of making it to Mars by 2030 and how will they reasonably reach that goal without known exactly what is there, and that is the Mars Opportunity Rover is doing right now. Other impacts this cut could possibly have is how it affects satellites in orbit, this new budget has a lot of work happening around the Landsat satellite and if that does not happen that could affect many commercial applications in everyday life
2. Your conclusion paragraph should be more detailed. Restate in just a few sentences the points that you made in your paper and what conclusions you have drawn from those points.
The 2011-12 budget will have a strong impact on a variety of issues, including economic growth, employment, inflation, external balance, ecologically sustainable development, and equitable distribution of income. The fiscal decisions taken in this budget could potentially impact the other main weapons of economic management, such as monetary policy, which will be discussed later.
An article on NASA's website shows me a testimony by NASA Administrator, Dan Goldin, who spoke before the U.S. House of Representative's subcommittee after the NASA budget received an eleven-percent reduction in funding. Mr. Goldin feels outrage that the space program would be expected to function on such restricted funding. Goldin states this kind of cut would "gut space exploration." With closures of NASA centers and significant layoffs, Mr. Goldin predicts this budget cut will affect employee morale. Mr. Goldin poignantly states, "Perhaps most sadly, we will lose the opportunity to inspire a future generation of children." (http://www.hq.nasa.gov/pub/pao/Goldin/2000/testimony) Goldin's issue is the reduction in his budget. In my experience with budgets, reduction of the budget means, Goldin and his team are going to have to cut costs. Reading between the lines of his argument, I presume the eleven-percent are costs he does not want to cut. It must be his beli...

...ch overwhelming evidence on the table, it would be hard to ignore the huge negative impact budget cuts will have on the Navy. By cutting down on flying times, eliminating training deemed nonessential, and decreasing the amount of deployments, our sailors are losing valuable experience that they would not gain elsewhere. Through the lack of maintenance on our ships, the Navy is also experiencing a decrease in readiness. By decreasing the amount of forward deployed ships, we are also increasing our reaction time to potential threats to our allies and other interests abroad. Finally, as we miss out on or delay the modernization of our Navy due to fiscal reasons, we are hindering ourselves from attaining the most combat ready force that we could be. As the United States’ economy rebuilds up to its former glory, increased military spending should be soon to follow.
The United States is facing a large military budget spending issue with the Department of Defence reporting a cost of around $525.4 billion this past year. Washington Posts announced that, "The United States spent more on its military than the next 13 nations combined in 2011." While military spending is a large part of the government budget, and there is enough room to reduce spending as long as there are a set of precautions of which necessities the government cannot cut.
This imposes problems on the military and even on the government. One article states that, “Reduced budgets and the threat of sequestration create a sense of uneasiness in the ranks, and those fears are fueled by politicians willing to shut down the federal government rather than compromise.” (Army Magazine) This is because with the increase of budget cuts they start to cause problems for the ones who are working and this creates lost jobs in the military. No one wants to lose their job not even the ones that have put forth a great amount of time and effort in the military. For the ones that have been in the military for a long period of time this can actually have negative effects on their life style and even cause problems when returning

“The Budget and Economic Outlook : Fiscal Years 2010 to 2020.” Congress of the United States
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) is an agency under The Congress that helps in synthesizing the budgetary information by providing options that are implemented and bring about savings in the initial budget. The document provides choices in the following areas: Mandatory spending apart from health-related programs, discretionary spending apart from health-related programs, and revenue other than health related programs and finally health-related programs and revenue provisions. In this paper, we shall focus defense spending and in particular the U.S. Air Force spending that falls into the category of discretional spending.
After taking office in 2009, the new president presented priorities that would require reduced defense spending. This process of establishing new priorities likely began immediately after his inauguration and the 2010 National Security Strategy documents this shift. In the opening remarks, the President declares his focus on building strength at home through economic growth and national debt reduction. He also places priority on health care, education improvement and the pursuit of green energy with only cursory remarks on defense capability. Although it may not have been the President’s intent, messages like these prompted DoD leaders to closely examine budgets and identify areas of substantial savings. Under this scrutiny, the F-22 production and modernization program, at more than double its original projections of costs and time, stood

A just budget has to be made through scientific methods, not just on mere guesses. Otherwise we will either have shortage of money or make low utilization of money.
Setting a budget is a delicate process. Too high or too low a budget can have serious ramifications. Budgetary slack occurs if targets are set too low.
