From a marriage and family, theoretical frameworks that give way to explain the reasoning of your marriage and or family. View the structure of both marriage and family through the most common three theoretical frameworks. Such as, conflict theory, family systems, and symbolic interaction that is all valuable, pertinent within the marriage, and family. Through these different frameworks, they all have some sort of comparison within the meaning of the family.
Symbolic Interaction Systems This framework deals with the individuals being understood as a part of a family, rather than as a whole. Understanding what symbols are being used such as language to define the individual and how they are used to attract the relationship. For example, as

This framework is the most common today, because what is expected from each family member typically needs to be done if you want a tight knit family. Inside a family, every member has a basic society role and expectation that need to be fulfill in order to work properly. The mother and the father has roles that are the base support system of the household. The mother takes on the development roll as well as fulfilling housewife responsibilities such as cleaning, cooking and educating the children as they are home. The father plays the role of the leader, head of the house, and protector. The one who gets the bills paid and does the heavy duty work around the house. Just as Christ is the head of every Man, he is the head of his wife and children. The children’s role inside the family is based on gender and age. The oldest child sets the bar for the younger siblings in a positive and respectful manner. From the gender side of it is slightly traumatic, trying to set the world a part from the Word of God, and what is right and what is wrong. The greatest Book of all times states in Proverbs 22:6, train up a child in the way he should go, and when he gets old he will not depart from it” (NKJV,Bible). As for having, a set family system will allow you to bypass failure and be able to reach higher than you ever expected. So setting a family with different status, roles, and descriptions will allow them to take care of what needs to be

The way I understood it was in two parts the first part is that the family should be viewed as a whole. To further explain, there are individuals and every family but according to this theory it is the whole (the family) that is more important than the parts (the individuals). The second part is that families should also be viewed as being part of something larger, like their part in the society and the importance of that. I think that the family systems theory is very important to understand for human services professionals, because even if we just work with individuals we have to remember that they are a part of a family system. The same goes for remembering that families are also a part of a larger system. I think both the ABC-X model and the family systems theory lay out a good foundation for future

“individuals cannot be understood in isolation from one another, but rather as a part of their family, as the family is an emotional unit. Families
An adage goes by “show me your friends and I will tell you who you are” but in family system theory, it more like show me/tell me about a family member, and I will tell and interpret the family as a whole. Family system theory work hand in hand with the definition of family because, based on how the family defines itself, you can tell more about the family in terms of their communication and coexistence in general.
The 21st century has changed drastically since the 1900s. One of the many things that has changed is how big of an impact children have on marriages.Children can either bring a couple together, and realize how great life is. Or a child can show the significant other how they are complete opposites. In the past century, children have had a bigger impact of making or breaking a marriage.
The concept of biological residence relates because the family lives with their offspring. The bridewealth is seen when the male’s side of the family brought gifts to the bride’s family. Marriage alliances are formed because they made it known that everyone was family now. Nuclear family relates because of the married couple and their offspring live at home. Gender sex roles are seen by the men dealing with the labor and the women are doing like the housemaid work.
Each family unit exhibits concepts and themes found within Bowen’s Family System Theory. In my family unit, I see the following concepts and themes from a family system theory perspective exhibited through my genogram; boundaries, levels of differentiation, family projection process, and emotional cutoff. Each of these will be expanded on further below:
The unit of a family is the most prominent essential for all of us. As social human beings, we seek social support in order to thrive, and that is where family comes into play. A family is where you receive love, support, encouragement, and many other social benefits. The total number of households in the United States increased from 63 million in 1970 to 113 million in 2008 (Weeks, 2012). The family has influenced multitudes of people in many ways. The traditional family in the United States consists two-married individuals providing care and stability for their biological offspring also know as the nuclear family. However, the term of a true family has ultimately changed over the last 50 years especially for African Americans.
Whatever the situation or structure of a family system, one thing is for certain, every member of the system affects one another negatively and/or positively, when one loses his or her job, all members are affected as the strain of finances builds or one falls ill, all the members are affected as they will need to help more in the home and with each other. If a member doesn’t support or mesh with their own family system and deviates from the beliefs and boundaries of the system, the system begins to falter and dysfunction creeps in causing breakdowns, breakups, abuse, neglect, emotional or physical cut-offs which in turn can put pressure on outside systems such as police/judicial, lawyers, counsellors/psychologists/psychiatrists, government institutions, healthcare, welfare. "A family is a small social group of people related by ancestry or affection, who share common values and goals, who may live together in the same dwelling, and who may participate in the bearing and raising of children. They have a physical or emotional connection with each other that is ongoing" (Vissing, 2011) and is the foundation of all societies. They can be formed by a grouping of father-mother-children or even more complicated combination of relatives. In the primary stage of family life in the United States, everyone from every generation lived together in one house. Subsequently, the idea of traditional family evolved and a married couple with children is at present, often called the traditional family. There are many types of families; however, this paper will focus on the traditional family. It will describe how the functionalist perspective, conflict perspective, and the interactionism theory apply to the sociological institution known as a family. It will explain some of the similarities and differences between the sociological theories in regards to families and how they affect the family members.
Has the value of marriage become obsolete to the up and coming generations? With the decline in respect amongst individuals, increasing divorce rates, a decrease in moral values, infidelity rates, and lack of communication amid people, are we setting our future generations up for marital failure? The generations of today are being shown that marriage is something that they are expected to do rather than what they are meant to treasure. Marriage was once revered as a sacred union between two individuals in which they honored and cherished the vows in which they chose to recite to one another, values our current society may be lacking.
To thoroughly elaborate on the institution of family we most look at the family as it was before and how much it has changed over time. Throughout the years we are recognizing that the family is slowly being replaced by other agents of socialization. Families in the past consisted of a mother and a father and most times children. We are, as many societies a patriarchal society; men are usually the head of the households. This has always been considered the norm.
There are so many different types of family relationships. Whatever form a family takes; it is an important part of everyone’s life. My family has played an important role in my life. Good family relationships serve as a foundation to interactions with others. Supportive families will help children to thrive. The quality of the family relationship is more important than the size of the family. Making the relationships priority, communication, and providing support for one another is key to developing relationships. Family relationships are what make up our world today; they shape the ways that we see things and the ways that we do things.
In today’s society, a majority of young couples are taking the opposite route when it comes to preparing for marriage. Instead of waiting till their newlyweds to move in together, many couples have decided to move in together. They believe that by living together, the divorce rate is decreased significantly. This idea of living together before marriage baffles a lot of people who are pro and against the idea. Yet, when you think about it for a moment, it does kind of make sense. Compared to previous generations, millennials would rather live together to decide whether marriage is in their future. There have been arguments for and against this idea of couples moving in together.
