"HAPPINESS is not a state to arrive at, but a manner of travelling." - Margaret Lee Runbeck
Many people would like to make changes in their lives but don't know where to begin. Let's break it down and make it easy for you.
Do you ever sit and ponder what you want your life to look like in the future. Have you set new goals? Do you want to set goals? Have you reflected on the past year and thought about the things that worked out, the things that didn't and what you'd like to do with your life going forward?
Everyone's goals and desires are different. One person's idea of happiness will be a lot different than another's. I have found the best approach to setting goals is the simple approach. Break it down into categories and then expound on each one. Do some brainstorming

Next, don't allow it to overwhelm you. Take baby steps in each area until you start to make small differences and before you know it you will begin to see the desired changes. If you fall off the band wagon don't be hard on yourself - besides no one is watching.
Some of you may only have one area that you want to improve or none. Goal setting isn't for everyone. So don't feel bad if you like your life the way it is, go out and celebrate instead!
WHAT IS YOUR REASON WHY?
If you are one of those people who does want to change some particular situation in your life I find that the number one motivator in accomplishing whatever it is you want is to get crystal clear on your reason why.
When you understand the reason why you want to have something or do something or experience something it is the catalyst behind you achieving it. Keep your reasons in the forefront of your mind and before you know it you will be well on your way to living it!
I know of a really great goal, live with an attitude of gratitude and everything
How do we know when or how to change ourselves as people? Sometimes, we all need a shove from something or someone to help us better ourselves. The most dominant factors are kindness, fear, and regret. These three things can make us willing to go through the hassle and hard work of breaking out of a habit, whether it be putting your feet on the couch, or your attitude.
As a senior in college with less than two months to graduate, I have noticed that the question “Where am I going” keeps playing like a broken record in my mind. If one was to ask “what are some things that keep you up at night or gets your heart racing”, I would say it is “thinking about my future”. It is suffice to say that what our futures hold is never truly certain.
So many people have ideas of things they want to do, whether they be business-related, something that scares them or even just asking someone else out on a date. Everyone has ideas about how they want to live their lives, but most people never wind up following through. They are so afraid of failure or of looking bad that they run from any kind of challenge. Then later in life, when they realize that they had all these opportunities and never took ad...
People need to think intelligently and set goals that are specific to their needs, making it possible to achieve their goals by making sure they are measurable and realistic and making it possible to build a support system around them; furthermore, they also need to set a deadline with time frames that can be met. Chanika Charles stated that “young people are at risk of being gobbled up by despair, overcome by conditions beyond their control” (A17). To avoid this, people need to start motivating themselves and getting excited about what they want to achieve, making sure their goals are relevant to their needs and being more perseverance when situations become difficult. When setting up their goals, they must ask that magic question: is this relevant to my lifestyle, furthermore, what will I do to achieve it?
Identify 5 changes you would most like to make in your life. Describe your current stage of change for each of these goals or potential changes.
Decide on a change that you would like to make on yourself eg. – get married, change job, work harder, join a keep fit class etc.
Everybody has something about themselves and their lives they would like to change. I'm not talking about, "Gee, I need to loose a few pounds," or, "One of these days I really should start going to the gym." I'm talking about things that would change the fundamentals of the person's life.
When being asked what I would want to change it took longer than expected to figure out an answer to that question. I realized that multiculturalism and diversity has a huge impact on what I would want changed. Figuring out the type of counselor I would ideally want and learning these values about myself helped me identify what type of theoretical orientation I should gear my way
All people can redefine who they are and how they live their lives, but the most important factor of this is that they need to possess the self-dedication needed to alter their life. The concept that through determination a person can change
Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.
The key to remember is if you want something badly, you will work for it diligently. No failure will stop you, no obstacle will block you, no excuse will prevent you from getting the result you desire.
Change is a stage that everyone goes through in life five years from now nobody will be exactly the same, but how you embrace the change is what matters. Mitchell Baker once stated “I’ve learned that for many people, change is uncomfortable. Maybe they want to go through it, and they can see the benefit of it, but at a gut level, change is uncomfortable.”There are various ways people change and most of them are due to circumstances these are the most common reasons: force, inspiration, intentional, or natural occurrence.
There are tons of books on ways to change your life. If you learn to follow their actions, what do you think comes next? Results! Learn to study the lives of other people. Find someone who has the same desire or issue as you. I guarantee you there is something out there!
One quote that I always kept in mind throughout high school and college is one by an American motivational speaker, Denis Waitley. He said, “The reason most people never reach their goals is that they don 't define them, learn about them, or even seriously consider them as believable or achievable. Winners can tell you where they are going, what they plan to do along the way, and who will be sharing the adventure with them.” My main three goals in life are to be successful and happy in life, make a change, and to help those less fortunate than
