Recommended: Why should military service not be mandatory
There is a long history of military service in The United States. Many years ago in the early 1900’s military service began in the U.S. When World War 1 came around, our soldiers had to be prepared and that’s when men had to leave their families. Now, military service still exists and it is still defending our nation. If military service were mandatory then the military could teach you important skills for life and all citizens would have equal rights. Mandatory military service would promote respect for soldiers, the land, and freedom. Military service should be mandatory.
First and foremost, the military teaches you important skills for life. One piece of evidence that points to this is, that military shows what it means to overcome challenges and obstacles. It teaches you things about yourself you never knew. The

Any citizen, whether rich or poor, is entitled to enlist in the military. As a result of mandatory service, social statues would be eliminated, promoting equality among all people. Another piece of evidence is that, if all citizens are forced to serve in the military, this would allow people to learn and train together. This will also be a chance for them to share the same experiences of having served their country. When citizens are forced to do something together they will respect each other, so they will have equal rights. Thirdly, mandatory military service would promote respect for soldiers, the land, and freedom. Soldiers are trained thoroughly to respect freedom and values. With mandatory service we will be a nation that has respect for the land and most of all freedom. Soldiers will learn to respect everyone and everything. Kokkinen from Verde Magazine says, I went into my military service feeling patriotic, but came back even more patriotic.” The United States of America needs this patriotism. In conclusion, mandatory military service would promote respect for soldiers, the land, and
...e unnecessary moneymakers, products of lies and deception behind the scenes, orchestrated by powerful and rich men who usually never suffer but, rather, gain from their machinations to create war. I support a National Service Obligation system that would draft all persons, at age 18, to serve for 18 months in some form of public service. This would allow American citizens to contribute to the country in different ways. But it should be one?s own decision how to contribute to the country. As said before, I believe that reinstating the military draft will not increase patriotism or a sense of duty, but will rather decrease the effectiveness of the military and will create huge protest feeling among country?s citizens. Therefore we should explore every possible way to contribute the country?s future instead of just putting our future and ourselves in the Meat Grinder.
The way conscription is described is that it requires every young man or woman to serve in the military service for two years. In this description, "requires" is only a euphemism for "forcing". A requirement simply means it is not optional, which is exactly what forcing includes. Demanding that a young person change his or her life is immoral and should not be added to our society. Even if our country did not have freedom as our foundation, conscription would still be an iniquity.
America has become a nation, for who knows what reason, of lazy, low, ungrateful people. The draft may be able to bring back some work ethic, drive, and pride amongst the American people. It may teach the young men and women to put effort and pride into their work and appreciate what they have been given because once they serve they know what it takes by the unnoticed to keep the country a free place, so we can enjoy what we love. The service of the young men and women, maybe what it takes to get the rest of the country off its butt to do something and be something that is worth protecting. Too many Americans have made it the new normal to be lazy, sit on the couch, be unemployed, and take hand-outs from the government, which is completely pathetic and embarrassing!
Generally, reinstating the Constitutional draft would solidify the meaning of being an American citizen. Often, wealthier and more privileged people are able to ask for exemption from serving, which makes representation of soldiers in combat composed of less-privileged citizens. With compulsory conscription, all American citizens, men or women, ages 18-26 are subject to be recruited for the armed forces. In fact, only 4 members of the 107th Congress who voted in favor of the Iraq war had children serving there. Politicians would know how it feels to have loved ones in a war, instead of freely speaking about wartime without experiencing it in any way.1 Moreover, Americans feel that public support for war in foreign countries is not strong because the soldiers fighting are p...
Now, the U.S. military consists entirely of volunteer soldiers, and the draft has been discontinued, though while being discontinued, Government requests that all citizens sign for national service when they come of age to enlist. In common vernacular this means that government wants all citizens to sign what is essentially a draft form when our draft has been disbanded; this legal document will force some citizens to work for the government in a way remarkably similar to the draft. (Hasbrouck)
“First, conscription doesn’t save much cash. It costs money to manage and enforce a draft- history demonstrates that not every inductee would go quietly. Conscripts serve shorter terms and reenlist less frequently, increasing turnover, which is expensive. And unless the government instituted a Czarist lifetime draft, everyone beyond the first ranks would continue to expect to be paid” (Forbes). Even though “The military not only provides training in a range of specialties; it also offers educational benefits for veterans-- including many from underprivileged back grounds-- that might not be available under a mandatory
High School Students should be allowed to join the military, because it is a way to pay for college expenses. College is expensive. The military has many programs to help pay for all different kinds of college expenses (Kingsbury). The first is going to college after active duty. This means the individual has to serve a certain number of years before he can retire and go to college. The average number of years is four, during which he still receive education and training (Yuengling). The post 9/11 GI bill help pays for tuition, room and board, and gives a food allowance each month. Another benefit of the bill is that if it is unused, the children of the individual can share the money from the bill (Sander). This would relieve many worries about paying for the children’s college. The individual must stay in the military for a certain number of years before he may choose to do so. The individual may also share the GI bill with a significant other, after a certain number of years. Since the beginning of the bill, over 3,000 institutions have accepted a...
...itary conscription in the name of freedom is an illegitimate, criminal organization. A government that is willing to enslave people cannot be trusted to protect your liberty. A government that forces people to fight for its goals, its protection, and its benefit has created a morally perverse situation where there is no free society left to defend” (Boldin). Another thing we must look at is without an overflow of troops; “unpopular wars are very difficult to fight. The ability to use conscription actually encourages politicians to wage even more wars;the massive resources are a temptation that is hard for the war-lover to resist. When the draft was finally undermined in the 1970′s, for example, the Vietnam War ended” (Boldin).
The U.S. military is a strong force and body that protects and serves the American people. Many people support the military and some even disagree with it. What people forget is that without a military the U.S. would be totally over run by foreign countries claiming ground. The military also helps with the nation’s economy boosting the balance of money in the works. Families have trouble with members who serve since there is always chance that they never return but it is because of their service that we are still a free country. Even though the military causes pain to families when a loved one is lost, the U.S. needs a military because with a military the economy increases and that without a military we would be invaded by a dictator or foreign
Conscription, also known as drafting, is a practice that requires mandatory enlisting into any of the branches of the armed forces. This practice has been adopted by the United States at the very least two times before and from what I can remember during World War II and the Civil War conscription was being practiced. Nowadays conscription is not practiced in the United States because there isn’t a need for it. Now, if you want to join the army you can do so by volunteering. However, there are people who believe conscription should be brought back. Some people believe that the drafting of younger people might help these young people develop useful skills and cultivate a sense of unity and national pride. Although all of these are valid reasons,
Military is an establishment of a country and nation. There are a few different motivation behind why one may join the Military. Recently, Ive asked a few secondary school understudies for what good reason they anticipate inlisting in the military. Majority of their responses were cash for school , training and traveling. Those are suitable reasons yet many are undecided wheather to join the military after college or before college. With All things considered , it is by all means more valuable and beneficial to join the military before school instead of joining after school. One key defense would be that joining the military before school will help pay for ones
Military background and history has been in the world for a long time. It goes back as far as Assyrians, Spartans, Aztecs, Romans and Greek. The military purpose is mainly to protect our country and our rights and freedoms. It’s just a part of nature. No one came up with military it just happened and got stronger and stronger over the years. It first started with random people coming together protecting towns and homes and families, and eventually more and more people came together. The three main branches of the military are The Army, Navy, and Marine Corps. All three of these branches are the reason the U.S is how it is. These branches fight for our freedom, our rights, and our country!! (Robbie Hughes Interview)
Teaching young men how to survive in horrible conditions while America is at peace is a necessity in order to successfully overwhelm and capture a country. If America stays the way it is now and another country such as Russia tries to invade the US, there won’t be enough experienced soldiers and most American citizens wouldn’t even know what to do. That’s why America needs to reinforce conscription in order to be prepared for these worst case scenarios. This also would boost the economy by creating more job opportunities, because people would work and invest in the private sector of the armed forces. Entrepreneurs would heavily focus on the arms market as well as supplementary training camps. As everyone knows a nation can have a strong and large army available, but if your economy is too fragile and can collapse easily then the soldiers could wave the white flag right ahead just like what basically happened to Germany in the Second World War.
Mandatory military service is a course to make a fit and capable citizen. First of all, military service can help one's character . More specifically it gives good tools so that people can work well in a team, be more organized in everyday event and good discipline. Secondly, it can offer education to people in need. Furthermore it will help people in bad neighbourhoods or is living trough a thought time and give those without the means to be in a home and have a job. Thirdly but not least mandatory military service could be looked at as a dept owed to one's country, loved ones who are protected if ever needed and most important to our right to democracy.
Most people have, at one point or another, considered what they were going to do with their lives. Whether a person would like to become an activist, an artisan or a business professional, the military has something for everyone. Finding a path in life is often filled with uncertainty and procrastination. The United States military is a path in itself, should one wish to retire from it; however, should a person wish to make their own path, there are benefits for that as well that can remove all doubt and curb procrastination. Due to these many benefits, I believe that it should be mandatory for all adults to enlist for a minimum of twenty-four months.
