When working to accomplish a college degree, there are many core curriculum courses that are mandatory for all students to take, for example, writing classes. These writing courses should be categorized as mandatory classes for all students regardless of their major because the ability to state or discuss an idea clearly and effectively in an organized approach is a sign of a knowledgeable person. Writing courses act as a fundamental basis for most other classes; they teach you basics such as learning how to speak and write properly. Writing helps students learn how to think quickly and gather ideas into a well-developed format. Sure, there were classes that I partially enjoyed but that enjoyment quickly evaporated after a short while. Naturally, I began implementing more transition words in my own work and learned the appropriate ways to split paragraphs. During the third unit of this class, we were asked to identify an issue on campus, conduct research on the issue, and finally propose a solution to correct the issue. At first, it was difficult to get my ideas down and figure out what it was I would research. What I learned in class allowed me to first identify the issue I would research, write a rough draft, and hear what others had written before the final paper was due. This helped me to identify the main points, brainstorm and figure out what additional research I would need to find to support my argument.
