The role I will be researching into is the role of a make-up artist in relation to theatrical and other genres. I will explore the many roles and responsibilities of make-up artists, the current range of jobs going in the industry for make-up artists and also the importance of the job and who requires them. I also will discuss the certain roles and responsibilities I need to personally follow during the upcoming Arley Hall performance. Firstly one very important role of a make-up artist is communicating with clients to finalize visual requirements. This is an important responsibility as it ensures a happy and satisfied client witch as well as creating an impressive visual product on performers, also means a good relationship between make-up …show more content…
This is also important with up keeping another responsibility of a make-up artist which is to ensure continuity in hair and makeup for performers. It is also important for make-up artists to demonstrate and implement an understanding of the lighting and how this affects the look of makeup and prosthetics (if applicable). An extremely important part to a make-up artist’s role is ensuring the highest standard of health and safety for performers for example ensuring the appropriate actions are taken to minimise unpleasant and potentially dangerous side effects from the makeup and hair products used on performers. This ties in to makeup artists also maintaining an up to date awareness of health and safety issues and legislation within makeup artistry. Where required makeup artists may also have to cast facial and body casts through latex foam, this is known in the industry as prosthetics. It is also important for makeup artists to fit and maintain wigs and hair pieces where required, they also need a good knowledge of complex and basic hairdressing to complete looks …show more content…

In the film Luhrman uses costume and makeup to portray characters’ personalities. Such as Shirley Hastings. Shirley’s costume and makeup shows the audience a great deal about her personality. Shirley always wears pink, puts ‘over the top’ makeup on and wears a lot of jewellery. This tells the audience that she is ‘over the top’ and maybe insecure about herself or her past. Liz Holt is another character whose personality could not have been portrayed if it wasn’t for the costume and makeup used. Liz is a drama queen and exaggerates everything including her costume and makeup. She nearly always wears yellow and also exaggerates her makeup with bright colours even when she’s not dancing. Luhrman also used costume and makeup to show the development of one of the main characters, Fran. At the start of the film, Fran is introduced with acne, glasses and baggy clothes, which shows the audience that she is not comfortable with herself and not confident. But when Fran starts dancing she slowly becomes more confident and her costume and makeup changes. Fr...

As part of our culture, while growing up boys and girls are expected to learn the basic skills to fulfill the "roles of their gender." For boys this includes learning all of the the routine maintenance on a car, to work out and be stronger then the girls, and are usually expected to be better with electronics. While at the same time girls are steered towards learning how to cook, clean, and look pretty. All of the female roles require a lot of practice and trial and error before they can be mastered, but the hardest and most time consuming skill to be learned still remains applying make-up. Just as anything else (even writing an essay) the finished product always seems so simple and easy enough to be done by a child in a few minutes. Although, in reality girls spend years doing trial and error to find out what looks good on them and a few more years making it look "natural." This is necessary for every girl go through on her own, to be able to have her own look. However, there is a routine make-up application process that will help any beginning girl with he basics.
With this in mind where do you start for the perfect approach to applying makeup?
Women have been an important part of art history since the moment of its creation. While women artists began to emerge from the shadow of their male counterparts, their representation in artwork remained particular to how women were perceived by men and society’s idea of what a woman was and should be. Women have taken great strides in taking the reins on their own lives and their own representations both in the art world and in the general environment. Yet so many names have been forgotten or erased through the trajectory of time and many of their struggles are left unaware. A woman would be more likely to become an artist or have the ability to make art would be if she was related to a male artist and had the materials available. It was highly unusual for a woman to study the subject on her own.
Makeup has transformed the lives of so many individuals and continues to play an important role in the daily routines of many women (and those men who choose to wear makeup). [Pause] The main reason why makeup initially became integrated into the daily lives of many individuals was to help conceal facial features that people were insecure about. Now, as of 2018, makeup has helped many people in terms of their general self-confidence. The stereotype that makeup is used to impress others is as far off as one can get. No individual would put so much time [Pause], effort [Pause], and education [Pause] into a task that is only to impress others. It is nice to present our self-expression to others, but it all reflects how one feels. One can change
In post-war Britain, the role of women was beginning to change from the social normality. In this era, it was suddenly expected of women to do the jobs their husband was unable to do, as they were out in war. Their roles in society shifted from housewife and domestic caregiver, to female factory worker. This proved somewhat positive as women discovered their strength and intelligence that had before been hidden under their oppression. It is in this era, fashion photography aimed to explore the independence and business side of a woman, while maintaining her femininity. To discuss the representation of women in a post-war society, I will specifically look at the works of Norman Parkinson, notably the image titled The Art of Travel.
From Mark Twain to Vincent van Gogh, each genre of art comes with its greatest master. There are many compelling arguments to why this specific artist, musician or writer is the best in their category. In modern days, we don’t have a Mozart, or a Hemingway or even an Andy Warhol. There are many good artists of their own kind and many more are emerging thanks to new technology and new forms of media art. However, many arguments are made as to why these forms of art aren’t considered true forms of art. A few years back and even today, many argue that digital paintings aren’t real art so it is not surprising when people don’t think of a video game as an art form, but it is. The world is at constant change and so is art.
