Janis Karpinski once said “Military police know what to do, they know the Geneva Conventions, and their objective is to provide a safe, secure, fair environment for prisoners under their control.” Ever since I saw the movie Max (2015), I became hooked on the Military Occupation Specialty of a U.S. Marine Police Officer. I like how I can go on patrols and protect my country with man’s best friend and the dog will be there by your side, even while you are in a firefight. Gilmartin begins by describing the typical rookie officer. Most are energetic, idealistic, enthusiastic and very driven. Quickly this enthusiasm can change from one of positivity to one that is very cynical and emotionally charged. These behaviors and thoughts over time if not corrected become exacerbated leading to noticeable mental and physical changes. The author, Gilmartin, uses personal experiences and other real life stories effectively so that many officers can relate and identify with the topic of the book.
From family to squad members, communication acts as the cornerstone for a military officer, assisting in the mental health of the individual as well as facilitating the conduction of successful operations by an intricate, yet responsive, organization. Military officers are often times imagined as infallible heroes, unwavering against and untouched by the realities of modern warfare. A dog handler working in the law enforcement field is basically an officer who has completed all of the requirements to become first a police officer, and then a specially trained officer working with other specially trained police canines. These highly trained dogs are either chosen or bred for their high intelligence and their strong sense of smell (Canine Officer Careers – K9 Job Description., 2015). There are many tasks that these dog handlers and canines have to perform on a daily basis. This is why it is important to have dogs that are well rounded in their intelligence and their sense of smell. Not only is the handler just a dog handler, but he maintains the duty of being a police officer and has to perform duties such as apprehending
As the saying goes, a dog is a man’s best friend. The dog is a loving companion to a man. He is happy to go everywhere with his master. He shows his affection for his master by wagging his tail and licking his hand or face. This timeless relationship continues to evolve into new kinds of human-dog interactions that increasingly benefit society.
Dogs today are being trained to be service dogs. Training a dog takes at least one to two years. Training a dog means they must be able to behave in public areas without causing any problems, the second thing a dog must be able to do, is to act appropriately with whatever disability the owner may have. Some people say that dogs can sense when their owner is about to have a seizure, but others say dogs can sense it but their instincts kick in and they have the need to protect their owner. The only animals allowed to be service animals are dogs and in some cases miniature horse.

Steven Seagal once said , “It is a lot harder now to be an Police Officer than what it used to be.” When I was six years old my family and I had got into really bad accident, a Police Officer pulled out my mother, brother and me before the car caught on fire. He could have saved the younger man in the other car, but he made the decision to save my family. Ever since then I have always admired Police Officers and their service. The career of a Police Officer is a eye opening and amazing experience ,because you 'll come in contact with parts of society that you never knew existed . The research will describe the career of a Police Officer, what is required to become a successful, and the impact this career has on society.
It is a common conception that police officers choose their particular career path simply because they are inheriting a family member’s desire. They choose to be an officer because their father or their mother or a relative was an officer. It is a common conception that officers are not chosen they are inherited and expected to be from family. This area of interest is something that would be well suited for that of research and a study. How many police officers performing duties today have had a family member who was also a police officer? We can achieve our results through a survey that will take place the process of doing research and contacting police officers over the internet, over the telephone and doing so by interviewing them.
Police officer work can be a difficult task to handle. Police constantly work under stress and is a dangerous field to work in job especially if the majority of the public have a negative subculture against them. According to Steve McCartney, there is a strong subculture that permeates most agencies. While a common theme in academic discourse is that police culture is negative, entrenched in cynicism, masochism, loyalty above all else, and an “us versus them” mentality. The Police subculture have specific set of belief, attitudes, and behavior manifested by the law enforcement because they spend the majority of their time dealing with crime and tend to view members of the public as untrustworthy and potentially hostile. Therefore, police officer
The use of dogs to assist in the treatment of physically and sexually abused children is an effective tool in the treatment and healing process. Animal assisted therapy, which includes the dog in the actual therapeutic process, allows a child to view the dog as a model and reassurance. The dog is a nonjudgmental entity, which augments the level of self-esteem the child is internalizing and stimulates their communication of feelings.
Dogs are very common in the world we know today. Many households have one or more. Dogs are trained to be pets. Not only trained to be pets, dogs are also trained for work. Dogs are getting used more and more in our work environment. House dogs can also be considered a working dog depending on why the dog is there. There are many jobs for dogs. Dogs make a big impact on our working and social lives.
Before I describe to you some of the “routine” and specific situations, investigations, and actual cases and dispositions I encountered I feel I should outline some of the training that that I received starting with the Military Police and Basic Training. Looking back I see the importance of the initial Army training that centered on physical conditioning and the discipline necessary to obey and follow orders to become part of a team. We learned that what was good for one was good for all and of course the reverse. Each morning we stood inspection outside of the barracks with our field packs on. Part of our required equipment during the inspections was a razor. We found out why one morning at the beginning of our training cycle when one of
