It is very important for ASDA to manage their resources, as they all play important roles in the improvement and functioning of the organisation.
Physical resources
As these resources include buildings, warehouses, premises, equipment, facilities, plants material and waste and machineries. These are very essential for the ASDA to carry out their day to day activities and to carry out their projects effectively. needs to manage their building according to the size of the building or premises, the location the building is situated in also according to the organisational and customer needs and requirement. Management of their equipment is important as a lack of equipment or bad management of equipment results in low production or low quality production. Equipment can include the computers and self-service computers and they have to be managed in a careful manner because the hardware the physical part of computer. Software has to be managed and protected as it’s the system that makes the computer work. It is also important that ASDA provides a safe shopping environment for their customer, this means the customers feel comfortable shopping and this means they will frequently come to ASDA to shop this will have a positive effect on ASDA’s financial performance. Also in =providing a safe environment for their customers, ASDA will have to manage their security and safety equipment such as CCTV cameras, security alarms, fire alarms and equipment, first aid equipment and so on. Human Resources Human resources includes the employees of ASDA.
This management would cover finding the right approach to dealing with their employees, to be able to make adequate plans to manage them in a professional manner.
The management of this resources deals with the efficiency of the employees in relation to increasing the production level of ASDA as a profit making organization. The following ways are methods ASDA can use to manage their human resources, Motivation, training, appraisals and personal development planning.
An essential part of human resources management includes employing employees with the adequate skills and qualifications needed to carry out a particular job role and also training staffs that do not have the required skills to carry out their set tasks. This management allows the employees to achieve ASDA’s organizational goals and objectives. With the management of the human resources of ASDA, the company will be able to manage its employees into providing efficient customer services.
Technological resources
The technological resources include the software and apps used by ASDA to carry out their organizational goals. These technological resources are responsible for performing tasks at the store checkout, it takes banks and credit cards; and it verifies transactions as well as providing sales report for
ASDA. This one of the only resources that can’t be touched. The main way to manage this resource is to include contracts like copyright and patent right that prevent people from taking or copy the different software and resources owned by ASDA, also this resources helps ASDA cover their company when anything bad happens to them. ASDA will however benefit from the management of this resource as they will be able to keep track of their transactions, and keep control of their stocks, it also saves them time and money. This is because the self-service makes it easier for customers to buy and pay for products, it involves less staffs so ASDA doesn’t have a long list of employees to pay every month, this will ASDA to having more money and they money can be invested into something else. With this the customers can trust that the technological area of ASDA is safe and they are confident to give them their bank details and so on. When this resource is not managed properly, ASDA will be spending extra money of making sure their contracts are copied and their software are secure.
Human Resource Management (HRM) is the administration and control of employees. Its purpose is to ensure that the workers and the employer cultivate a valuable relationship. As a result, the company will record an exceptional performance particularly with regard to employee productivity (Paauwe, 2004). Further, the workers will benefit in terms of job satisfaction and self-development (Paauwe, 2004).
