Exiting from her pint-sized Manhattan apartment, Marissa pulled her gray coat over herself and yanked out a dusty map out of her pocket. She stared at it intensely, trying to find an easy way to get to a small plaza where there could be jobs vacant. She once saw a job available for a cashier at a liquor store at the same plaza she was heading to.
Hopefully, the job was still open for her. Marissa was desperate to find a job - even if it was the worst job possible. She was eager for money because she wanted to move out of her shitty apartment and live in a fancy condo blocks away from her favourite boutiques and parks.
That was her life-long dream for years. Although, that goal of hers was a fantasy. It was almost impossible for her to find a job with no one around to help her.
Marissa sighed to herself, realizing that her daydream could never be a reality. But, she knew she had to try anyway. Stuffing the crumpled map back in her pocket, she rushed down the sidewalk calling for a taxi.
"Taxi! Taxi, over here!" she called, with the wind blowing through her brunette locks. The taxi drove past, completely ignoring her. Marissa frowned and scoffed. "Rude," she mumbled, blowing her hair out of her face.
After what felt like hours, Marissa finally caught sight of another taxi from a distance. Seeing the taxi drive towards her way, she approached the ledge of the sidewalk and waved for it. "Hello, over here!" she shouted, pointing in her direction.
The taxi slowly reached for her and the driver rolled down the window. "So, where do you want to go?"
"Oh, um," Marissa stammered, searching the map for the name of the plaza. The taxi driver yawned, cupping his mouth. "I don't have all day," he murmured in a thick, Italian accent. M...

...vish, luxurious cars like Audi R8s used to stop by his shop. Now that Marissa moved away from her father, she barely had time to visit him or his shop.
"Your car looks magnificent," Marissa exclaimed out of breath. She was taken away from how exquisite the car was. "Thank you," Justin said with glee. Justin pulled his cigarette out his mouth and threw it on the ground. He stomped on it with his red Vans and fetched his car keys out of his pocket.
Justin went over to the passenger seat and opened it. He gracefully motioned to Marissa to get in the car. She smiled at his kindness and entered the car.
He forcefully shut the car door shut and hopped into the driver's seat. Justin jiggled the keys in the ignition and swiftly turned the car on.
"You ready to find your future job?" Justin questioned excitedly. Marissa chuckled and a grin beamed on her face. "Of course."

Before setting out, she gave herself a list of rules she had to follow so that her experience would be as real as it could be. Her first rule was when looking for a job she couldn't mention the skills she had learned from her education. Second, she had to take the highest paying job that was being offered to her. Third, she had to live in the cheapest accommodation that she could, providing that it was a safe environment. Going hungry and being homeless weren't ever able to be options.
She sets out to explore the world that welfare mothers are entered. The point was not so much to become poor as to get a sense of the spectrum of low-wage work that existed-from waitressing to housekeeping. She felt mistreated when it was announced that there has been a report on “drug activity”, as a result, the new employees will be required to be tested, as will the current employees on a random basis. She explained feeling mistreated, “I haven 't been treated this way-lined up in the corridor, threatened with locker searches, peppered with carelessly aimed accusations-since junior high school” (Ehrenreich,286). The other problem is that this job shows no sign of being financially viable. Ehrenreich states that there is no secret economies that nourish the poor, “If you can 't put up the two months’ rent you need to secure an apartment, you end up paying through the nose for a room by the week” (286). On the first day of housekeeping, she is yelled and given nineteen rooms to clean. For four hours without a break she striped and remake the beds. At the end of the experience she explained that she couldn 't hold two jobs and couldn 't make enough money to live on with one as where single mothers with children. She has clarified that she has advantages compare to the long-term
"Hey boy where are you going?" the driver shouted at Bill while he stretched his arms across the opening to prevent myself from stepping down. I stood waiting. "Where do you think your going?" he asked, his heavy cheeks quivering with each word. "I'd like to go to the rest room." I smiled and moved to step down. He tightened his grip on the

Mrs. Roth chose this career in cosmetology since she was laid off from her job at the school district and was in need of money and a job. Thus, she decided to go to a beauty school for one year. She was only laid off for six months, so she came back to her job at the school district for part time while she finished her schooling.

After high school, she plans to attend the University of Northern Iowa to study radiology. The decision of her major was greatly influenced by the fact her mother works in the health field everyday and her mother is one of her greatest role models. After college, Marissa wants to travel the world. As she talked about traveling, you could see the excitement she had when her eyes lit up. Ireland, Bora Bora, and Jamaica are all on her list of places to go, but I have a feeling she will visit sites all over the globe. Her future is filled with options, therefore, nothing can stop Marissa from reaching her
The taxi pulled up and Sandra and I got in. She took the passenger's seat; I sat in the rear. I felt calm. After the first acceleration, that serenity transformed to sheer panic and nausea. I was praying silently as I held on for dear life.
