Especially in high school, you see and interact with many people on a day-to-day basis. Some are your close friends you know really well, while others you barely know. Therefore, one of the struggles of high school is getting to know people you don’t usually see outside of class. Having to interview Marissa Braddock, someone I don’t see outside of class, gave me an opportunity to learn new things about her. Being involved in multiple athletics, being extremely committed to family, and having dreams and aspirations to travel when she’s older reveals Marissa to be a very well rounded girl.
Marissa has many hobbies, but just like most high school kids, she is very active in sports. For seven years, Marissa competed in gymnastics. Gymnastics has impacted her life by making her work hard and challenge herself. Unfortunately, her time competing in gymnastics is over. From the way she talks about it you know a large part of her life is missing. It was a way of connecting with herself, challenging herself, and becoming friends with new people. Although gymnastics was a large factor is Marissa’s life, she has also played varsity volleyball in three out of the four years she has attended high school. After high school, she plans to attend the University of Northern Iowa to study radiology. The decision of her major was greatly influenced by the fact her mother works in the health field everyday and her mother is one of her greatest role models. After college, Marissa wants to travel the world. As she talked about traveling, you could see the excitement she had when her eyes lit up. Ireland, Bora Bora, and Jamaica are all on her list of places to go, but I have a feeling she will visit sites all over the globe. Her future is filled with options, therefore, nothing can stop Marissa from reaching her
