Despite the people that say keeping kids in school makes them improve in their education do not understand by having longer weekend helps kids improve in their school education by giving them more time to study, not cramming everything into a couple of days, and able to not be stress while in high school.
Ever since people have been kids from the age of 5- 18 it has been required to have them in school or that will be against the law. By allowing our kids with longer weekends it will allow them to study more and excel in their common education categories. Kids should not have to struggle to fit in the information without time to study and memorize. You may say how do you know they are actually using the time to study? You don't know but if they're not studying they are able to spend more time with their families and able to have parents or guardians more involved in life. A happier kid makes a kid have more motivation to achieve more in life.

The student would be able to learn at school and then on the three day weekend be able to do homework and study for any upcoming text they might have. For example,” Students learn better if they have 4 day school weeks because two states have proven that elementary students have gotten higher math grades than the students who came to school 5 days a week.” () There has been many test about this and most have shown positive impacts. The students will also sustain the information more than a student that has two days off a week to study. Also by not cramming allows the student to also learn to enjoy their education at a great
Just the existence of an extra free day allows students to get more homework done and have more time. For example, if you have a project that takes at least three days to complete, and you were absent one day, this will give you extended time to finish your project. My next point coincides with my first one; that having an extra day without school “stretches” work time. This means that students will have more time to do a project or homework, which means that students won’t feel as pressured, which means that the quality of the homework is much higher. My next point also coincides with the previous point; that students won’t feel as pressured and worried as a two day weekend.
School provides a lot of work. There are eight total classes in a semester, and sometimes it can be hard to keep up with everything that school asks of its students. Because of all the work, students tend to ignore the requirements school has. (For example, students will ignore due dates or study suggestions.) However, taking Fridays off (and replacing the days with extra weeks of school) will provide success for the students.
Relaxation could improve a students ability to think and therefore enhance their chance of excelling at their academics. According to an Indiana school,"Having one weekday off of school each week allows more flexibility for teachers and students." Students have an extra day to make sure that they do all their studies and still get extra time to do extra curricular activities. This also prevents homework and studying excuses students might make as a result of lack of time and abundant amount of homework. A five day week of school gives students a hard time as they have to adjust both activities and studies in 2 days. As a result of a five day school week students get less time to spend with their families, but with a four day school week they could spend more with family and still have everything finished and be prepared. Concluding from these chain of events, an implementation of a four day school week will result in a students academic growth.
To begin with, students have more time in class. Since there is more time, students can finish homework and other assignments during school hours. After a long day of work and assignments, I feel that coming home and doing more
Teachers don’t get paid nearly as much as they should. With a four-day week, the classroom time is extended to meet state requirements. However, teachers claim they aren’t getting paid enough to do the amount of work required ( Yarbrough and Gilman 85). Also, Colorado’s Karval School District RE 23 Superintendent claimed, “‘If teachers are not efficient in the classroom, we have one less day to reach students,’’ (Chmelynski). Longer days in the classroom can also be tiring on the students. Teens can’t learn well when they’re tired (“No-School Fridays” 20). Potential challenges of a four-day week are the special needs and younger students. Attending school for these students could be difficult by keeping their attention (Weldon
For the lost day, spread out over the four days, comes about just in around 10 additional minutes for each class period. It is additionally brought up that students have additional time to finish homework and do ventures over the long weekend. With online training being underlined by states and regions, the additional weekday would take this into consideration. Other conceivable advantages incorporate an increase in confidence and reduction in non-attendance, by both staff and students. Furthermore, folks at last have room schedule-wise to make arrangements for their kids that will not interrupt with school. They can also take long-weekend family outings, or go to different occasions that do not affect time away from school.
The second con to a four day school week would be having more homework. Being a kid would know that having a four
Syrian refugees are fleeing genocide in search of safe shores. The people of Syria are Muslims, full or partial Armenian descent, and other ethnicities who fled from wars and persecutions such as, the Armenian genocide, are also fleeing for their lives from the killings taking place in Syria. Millions of Syrian refugees are living in Jordan and Lebanon, because many families have been forced from their homes.
Many schools like the one I used to go to have a four-day school week. Having a Monday or Friday off allows the school to schedule sporting events on the off day. We only had to go to school from 8 am to 3:15 pm. The longer day gave us more time in class and a day off school. Many schools are deciding if they want to switch to a four-day school week because it allows kids to plan for the week ahead, it is less stressful, and attendance rates increase.
This benefits the parents majorly, more family time is provided with their kids. Could also go out of town, out of state without having to stress about having school on Friday. It also benefits the students, because it’s a day off, and they can travel anywhere for an extra day, and also not miss school as well. It also benefits the mayor of the town as well because when the students are not at school they are not causing any trouble, therefore it’s a win-win situation. Last but not least, teachers also get a much deserved break, instead of having another long day.
There are many opinions and studies about reforming school days. Some people are concerned that longer school days would bring more difficulties. However, there are numerous studies and practical examples that prove that we improve students’ performance by lengthening school days. Finally, the economy and our society will benefit from expanding school days.
Most children attend school for about 6.5 hours per day. Some people argue that this not enough time for children to master key concepts while others say that children spend too much time in school and on homework which leaves them little time for family or fun activities. “There are many benefits to year-round schooling—including consistency, less time spent relearning material, and the implications that year-round schooling has for closing the achievement gap” (Lynch, 2016, par. 1). Currently, more than 700 schools have extended their day. Massachusetts extended their school day so that it was 8 hours and found that they went up 44 percent in math,19 percent in science, and 39 percent in language arts (“Should students spend more time in
In his gloomy homeroom on Saturday morning, the student is too exhausted to care about his missing assignment, no matter how much it counts towards his grade: he just wants to sleep on the day that was once a weekend. People in the United States have been saying that their schools do not have test scores as high as those in other countries. Consequently, the Hillsborough school district is debating whether or not to convert their calendar into six-day school weeks. Some people believe that-with an extended school week-students will have more comprehensive exposure to certain subjects, thereby allowing them to learn more. Nevertheless, absolutely no student should have to go to school on Saturday mornings.
The students that play sports will never have time to sleep. If school hours were extended, it would take away sleep from many students it would be a complete waste of time. The ones that participate in any after school activity would be tired and restless everyday at school, after school activities would not be able to happen if the school board extended the school days. Eventually, the students would become tired and sick of having to get up and loose hours of sleep to go to school for nearly 10 hours a day. Also, it would not only cause students to loose sleep, it is also unhealthy for kids to run restless all day, extending the school days would solve no problems, it would only make them worse, kids would be falling asleep in class and not paying attention to the teacher’s instruction on what they need to do.
The extra day of classes would cut down on work days for students. Saturday classes would also mean one less day of rest for both students and teachers alike. & nbsp; Less time with a family could lower a student's grade point average. For some students Saturday is the only time they can see family. This would be true for students whose parents are divorced or who both work Monday through Friday. Not seeing family could lead to a bad attitude or severe depression. Some students have close relationships with their parents and want or need to spend time with their parents. A student with a bad attitude or severe depression cannot learn well and perform well in class. Not being able to learn well will not bring an already low education level up. & nbsp; The extra day of school would cut down on work days for students. A cut-down on work hours during the weekend could influence a student to work more late-night hours to earn money. for car payments or college funds. That would create a very tired, unprepared student. That student, in turn, will not do well with school work. The extra day of school would take away from any other job a teacher may have. Some teachers have additional jobs to earn extra money. Less time to work another job could create a bad attitude. A teacher with a bad attitude will not be able to teach effectively. & nbsp; One extra day of school cuts into precious relaxation time for students and teachers alike. Just one day may not sound like a lot; but, for a busy student, it could mean the difference between an A and a B. That one extra day of rest can change an attitude easily. With one day of rest and one more day to do homework, a student can have time to avoid a jam-packed schedule for a day.
