What does long-term athlete development mean to you? Well, in this paper I am going to talk about long-term athlete development. Long- term athlete development is “A clear path to better sport, greater health, and higher achievement” (Sports for Life). You are going to learn the ways first of what long-term athlete development is, how it is going to impact my job and finally, an example of a movement that you can development over time.

You have to introduce them to unstructured play times to see their movement skills and fundamental and basic sport skills. Stage two is called fundamental. This stage should start for females 6-8 and males 6-9. The big things to work on are agility, balance, coordination and speed. Stage three is learning to train. For for females this should occur around age 8-11 and for males 9-12. This stage is the golden age for learning sports. This is where the athlete should move from fundamental movement skills into fundamental sport skills. Stage four is called “to train to train”. This should occur for females around age 11-15 and for males 12-16. The athlete needs to start building on everything they have learned over the years and start focusing on strength and the anaerobic develop. Stage five is called “train to compete”. For females, this should occur around age 15-21 and for males around age 16-23. In this stage the athlete must pick one sport that they want get better at and position in that sport. These athletes are aiming to compete in national events.
Stage six is called “train to win” and should occur for females at age 18 and over, and for males 19 and over. Athletes with identified talent pursue high-intensity training to win international events. This means that being an athlete is a job for them. The last stage is called “active for life” and occurs from ages 12 and up. Athletes and enjoy lifelong participation in a variety of competitive opportunities in sport and physical activity I am not sure how this will impact my job as of right now. Several months ago, I was 100% sure I wanted to study exercise science and work in this field. However, as I am progressing through the process, I am becoming nervous. Some of the classes, mainly anatomy, are particularly difficult. I am beginning to wonder if I will pass them. Even if I pass my anatomy class, I do not know what I want to do with my life. Due to the fact that I am not sure of what I want to do with my life, I am unsure of how it will impact my job. The movement that I use a lot as college athlete, who runs track, is the block that we use to start our races. First of all, you have to know what foot in your dominant foot. This is because you to have the dominant foot closer to the starting line. After this, you can adjust the blocks you your liking. When the race starts, push off your front foot and run. Being and athletic trainer is a great and hardworking career. That involves meeting new people, dealing with different challenge each day, Also it has moderate schooling.
When we were younger, most of us wanted to be a princess or an astronaut. Now that we’re older, we’re starting to consider more serious options. A sports medicine physician isn’t your run of the mill career choice, but I’m not known for running with the crowd. I am confident, hard working and able to stay calm under pressure. Sports medicine physicians diagnose and treat patients of all ages related to physical health. To become a sports medicine physician, you need many years of post secondary education and they make a relatively good salary. With most careers, there are advantages and disadvantages. There can be travel opportunities and that comes with long work hours and high stress levels.
I want to become an athletic trainer after high school. An athletic trainer helps athletes take care of their body. I've been an athlete my entire life. I have also been hurt many times and I know the importance of an athletic trainer. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered and the duties for a particular career when making this decision.
While not many acute injuries, or injuries that are associated with a traumatic event can be prevented, nearly all overuse injuries can be! Nevertheless, sports medicine physicians receive training to treat any kind of injury; acute, chronic, overuses or even psychogenic pain. Sports medicine dates back to Susruta of India who was the first “recorded” physician to prescribe moderate daily exercise around 600 B.C. (Tipton). Since then, professionals have redesigned and renovated the techniques and equipment used in this field. Sports medicine physicians go through years of education and training in order to effectively treat and interact with patients, as well as thrive in any workplace they are needed.
During a football playoff game, your is driving down the field to score, when the quarterback’s ankle gets stepped on by another player. The athlete, the player, the coach and the fans are all counting on the athletic trainer to get that player ready to go back into the game. The athletic trainer would need to help get the player back on the field if possible.This is why I would like to be an athletic trainer. Athletic trainers specialize in areas of prevention, diagnosis, treatment, assessment, and rehabilitation. With this degree my choices of employment can be numerous from working with a sports team to in the healthcare field.

Athletic Trainers play a crucial part in today’s professional sports. They also help on lower levels of sports in high school, and college level teams. The job of an athletic trainer is simple yet very important, they are charged with treating, and preventing injuries. A trainer does this by developing therapies to reduce pain, and improve mobility (“Athletic Trainer Salaries”). They have to stand for long periods of time, work well with athletes of different sizes, move or carry equipment around, good mobility and communication skills to give instructions (“Athletic Trainer, Healthcare Program”). These trainers serve as a crucial part of an athlete getting back into their sport. Athletic trainers usually work under the direction of a physician, so they are like the Doctor’s healing hands in action.
There has recently been increasing scrutiny debating the merits of strength training in our youth and more importantly the unsafe and unethical training practices that tend to be utilized in implementing strength training programs in all levels of amateur athletics. These controversies have enabled many people associated in medical and exercise sciences to take a further look at the field of prepubescent athletics and their impact on the developmental patterns of the children involved. The research in the field has provided feedback regarding the physiological, mental and social effects - negative and/or positive - that strength training influences over prepubescent growth and development.
Sports psychology is the study of how psychology influences sports, athletic performance, exercise and physical activity. Some sports psychologists work with professional athletes and coaches to improve performance and increase motivation. Other professionals use exercise and sports to enhance people’s lives and well-being. While finding ways to help athletes is certainly an important part of sports psychology, the application of exercise and physical activity for improving the lives of non-athletes is also a major focus.
Children who participate in sports are developing rapidly in sports skills, sportsmanship, and psychologically, but does this come from organized sports are just nature’s process. Children develop emotional and social benefits from participating in sports. Children experience character and leadership development through peer relations leading to an increase in self-esteem and a decrease in anxiety levels. Children will get opportunities to experience positive and negative emotions throughout their practice and games trials. Millions of children worldwide participate in a multitude of sports, either in school or outside of school. As they grow older, they get better, but some of them stop playing. We have discussed that the best and sometimes oldest of the kids (in their age groups) are given more chances and more opportunities, as well as better coaching. This results in them gaining more experience and practice. Ultimately, some of them end up being national or world-class athletes competing and representing their country. In order for that to happen, they have to be recognized as talented and be presented with a chance to become great.
The main goals behind Sport Education are to help students become knowledgeable about different sports and activities to the point where they can participate in these outside of the classroom to stay active. Many life lessons can be taught through sports. Children can learn the importance of work ethic, working with others, perseverance, and the list goes on. There are studies that have shown that kids who are involved in athletics are more successful in the business world. It is only when parents turn the sporting events into an ultra-competitive requirement for their child that it can become detrimental. The lessons that sports teach kids about real life is one of the greatest benefits that can be gained from sports. Because so much can be learned through sports we need to make sure that we put focus on teaching lessons through sports rather than making it all about winning. It is a sad when parents turn a great beneficial thing into something that can be harmful for their children.
