The company whose supply chain that I chose to evaluate was Lockheed Martin. Lockheed Martin is a company that is headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, and they specialize in global security and aerospace. They employ approximately 97,000 people around the world and to a large extent are engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of various advanced technology systems, products and services. Their mission specifically involves solving complex challenges, advancing scientific discovery and delivering innovative solutions to help their customers keep people safe. The vision Lockheed Martin has is to be the global leader in supporting their customers' missions, strengthening security and advancing scientific discovery, while their values include doing what's right, respecting others, and performing with excellence. As a global security, innovation, and aerospace company, a vast majority of Lockheed Martin's business is with the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. federal government agencies. Gulfstream Aerospace is one of leading corporate jet manufacturers in the world. They have been building jets since the late 50’s and continue to create top of the line aircraft which have become the status symbol of success. With their success comes an extensive company infrastructure and supply chain. First, we will discuss how Gulfstream uses the location to maximize the effectiveness of its supply chain. Then we will look at the business case for Gulfstream’s approach to its supply chain, and in particular, does it make sense to have a car follow supplies while it is on the rail system. Finally, we will look at Gulfstream’s to the “just in time” manufacturing and its strategic approach to choosing locations.

Lockheed Martin is an organization that heavily relies on its defense contracts in order to generate revenue. In 2005, 95% of Lockheed Martin’s revenue came from the US Department of Defense, other US Federal government agencies and foreign military customers (Defense News, 2007). Lockheed Martin earns this revenue by winning government contracts. As previously noted, Lockheed Martin has a large customer base with the US Department of Defense. The company is the largest provider of IT services, systems integration, and training to the government (Lockheed Martin, 2008). Other customers that provide revenue for Lockheed Martin are international governments and some commercial sales of products and services (Lockheed Martin, 2008).
The Home Depot Supply Chain Management model is based on integrated inventory management through a centralized network of 20 distribution centers, called Rapid Deployment Centers (RDCs) and three Direct Fulfillment Centers (DFCs) aimed at the e-commerce market (Bond, 2015). This article adds value to the class by going into detail and providing examples of every pitfall the supply chain management can encounter, by doing so, it makes it easier to understand and visually how the supply chain management works. The supply chain management has various parts to it, and it can be hard to understand, but after reading this article and having so many different examples of situations, I see all the opportunities that come from pitfalls and I am aware of all the problems that can happen in order to avoid making them.
