Literature and Communities in “Shiloh” by Bobbie Ann Mason, “The Lesson” by Toni Cade Bambara and "Dream Deferred" by Langston Hughes

I chose to write about the story “Shiloh” by Bobbie Ann Mason, “The Lesson” by Toni Cade Bambara and Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes. I chose these works because all of them are about values, morals, beliefs and custom culture. The story “Shiloh” is about a community / couple who discover that they had different values, morals and beliefs; “The Lesson” by Toni Cade Bambara is about a teacher who tries to facilitate the youth in her community and Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes questions one’s values and offer suggestions for the effects of delaying values.

Is it right to dislike or disrespect others because of lack of knowledge, lack of interests or differences in values, morals, beliefs or culture? While I believe everyone is entitled to his or her own values, morals, beliefs and custom cultures; however, everyone should show respect for others values, morals, beliefs and custom cultures regardless of their lack of interests. , Literature reflects communities because in communities there are people of all nationalities with different values, morals, beliefs and cultures. One example of literature reflecting communities is the lack of emphasis and respect others place on values, morals and beliefs that’s meaningless to them. To ensure that literature place positive impacts on communities’ people have to find common grounds and learn to respect each other lifestyle.

Literature reflects communities because in communities there are people of all nationalities with different values, morals, beliefs and custom cultures. Literature is used to describe how people in communities communicate, live, feel, and see differently. I believe everyone is entitled to his or her own values, morals, beliefs and cultures; however, everyone else should show respect for others values, morals, beliefs and cultures regardless of their interests. Thus, when all else fail, to ensure that literature place positive impacts on the youth in communities society should find common grounds and learn to respect each other and their lifestyle.
