I remember waking up the morning of March 31st with a cold. I was upset, not only because of my whole perception of being sick, but I knew I had the facility tour field trip that day. I knew going in I was going to be groggy, tired, and irritated. Due to not sleeping very much at all the night before. I just didn't want my view or attitude toward the experience to be negative just because my health wasn't at its best. I am only explaining this, because the blessing came when I was all healed up and able to reflect on my experience. Its hard for me to stand in a tour, take notes, and try to experience something all at the same time. I did my best, but honestly the two facilities I found most relatable to me, helped overcome some of those obstacles of writing, standing and experiencing. Just for the mere fact that either the staff or the facility were so mesmerizing. The two facilities I am choosing to reflect on are Life Time Athletic and Acceleration IA/ Cross-fit Des Moines. Life Time Athletic is just in itself a monument of the fitness world. Acceleration IA struck me emotionally, with their highly passionate and realistic staff. What did I enjoy most about these clubs? You will just have to keep reading. Lifetime Athletic, …show more content…
The facility layout, equipment and amenities. Why? Being a former member and experiencing their top of the line cardio, free weights, and swimming pool. Not to mention their complementary Yoga, and spin cycling room. I, as a cardio enthusiast, never had to wait one minute for any treadmill, spin bike, or lap lane when going through my workout. I would sweat out two shirts, and after the fulfillment of finishing my workout. I would head right too in mens locker room hot tub (also available in the women's locker room) I could also sit in the steam or sauna. Use complementary towels and mouth wash. Honestly I could write a page on how satisfying their amenities

This worked out perfect for the observation because I arrived at around 5:00 pm, the busiest time for the establishment.

Athletic Trainers play a crucial part in today’s professional sports. They also help on lower levels of sports in high school, and college level teams. The job of an athletic trainer is simple yet very important, they are charged with treating, and preventing injuries. A trainer does this by developing therapies to reduce pain, and improve mobility (“Athletic Trainer Salaries”). They have to stand for long periods of time, work well with athletes of different sizes, move or carry equipment around, good mobility and communication skills to give instructions (“Athletic Trainer, Healthcare Program”). When close to the patient or in “revivalist tent” type meetings, the healer usually touches or "lays hands on" the patient while imploring for the aid of the Supreme Being. Faith healing may also entail a visit to a religious shrine, such as the French city of Lourdes, or the Ukrainian city of Uman, in search of a miracle. O...
During the semester, I learned a lot on how to deal with psychological distress and how as an athletic trainer I should deal with athletes to overcome their situation and be there for them. Throughout my time as an athletic training student, I always liked to observe my preceptors on how they deal with athletics that are having psychological distress after injuries, and how as an athletic trainer I should handle these situations in a professional manner. There is one situation in particular that occurred during the King’s College football season that I would like to discuss.
