Leo (the lion) is my favorite constellation because it has a really detailed shape, although it isn't to complicated. IT is true that it was one of the first constellations to be came across. The Mesopotamian were the people that discovered Leo the lion and gave it it's name. Although in different languages it has all sorts of different names. The Persians call it shier while the Turks call it Artan. There are loads of other names for it but unfortunately their is so much that if i was to explain it, you would have pages to read. On the other hand, the lion is really easy to spot because one of the stars from the big dipper point strait to it. Leo lies between cancer to the west and Virgo to the east. The best time for Leo the lion to be seen is exactly nine o'clock in April. Leo is the fifth of the zodiac and also represents those born on the twenty second of July and the twenty second of august. …show more content…
He had not one fear and could survive nearly everything. But one day a really challenging man named Hercules decided that he wanted to be the new king of the jungle, so he thought that the right thing to do would be to shoot the Neamen Lion with arrows but he soon found out that all the arrows done was make the Lion really angry! Being Hercules instead of running away from the lion he decided to run at it. Surprisingly the used to be most powerful lion ran into its cave, meanwhile Hercules blocked off one of the entrances. He soon ran at the lion clenching his fingers around his club, getting ready to hit the lion on the head. He soon knocked the lion to the floor and started to choke it. Soon Hercules had won and the dead lion was lying in a mess on the
Out of all of the poems we read, personally “They Feed They Lion” by Philip Levine stuck with me the most. Ironically, this was the poem I probably had the most difficulty understanding but after analyzing it and attempting to make sense of it, I became very transfixed on the style and eloquence of the work.
The Lion, a symbol of royalty, served as a mentor to Yvain, helping him grow into not only a man but a king. Only through his experiences with the Lion could he learn how to properly conduct himself like a man. Had he not encountered the Lion, Yvain wouldn't know what respect is. Yvain always had strength and courage like a lion but fought selfishly. After seeing the Lion defenseless against the snake he fights to defend those who cannot defend themselves. By assuming that responsibility of returning to his wife and land transforms from a boy to a man.
how he could fight with giants and was afraid at the first sight of the
If there is one great constellation, it is the constellation of Gemini. As a Zodiac Constellation, it is only visible during parts of the year. It's two brightest stars, Castor and Pollux, give it the name of the Twins. Anyone born in the end of May until late June is said to have two faces: one of Pollux's and one of Castor's.
In “The Secret Lion,” Alberto Alvaro Rios establishes the theme as loss of innocence in a young boy. The narrator brings to life a boy who must leave behind his youthful perceptions about girls, the arroyo, and his green haven. All preconceptions are shattered, and each glimpse of bliss is taken away. Through this the boy gains perspective, and begins to see the world with a new awareness. Rios ingrains the loss of innocence theme through the eyes of a twelve-year-old boy who exhibits maturity, autonomy, and disillusionment.
Growing up is something that comes and it’s unavoidable. No matter how much one tries to hold on to it it’s something that’s inevitable in one way or another we all grow up and mature. We start to see the world differently or realize things aren’t what we think they are. This is the case with Alberto Alvaro Rios’s “The Secret Lion.” The whole story revolves around the twelve year old narrator whose name is unknown. But what we do know is that the character is going through changes that he doesn’t quite understand and it takes some time to assimilate.
Growing up is unavoidable. No matter how much one tries to hold on to it its inevitable in one way or another we all grow up and mature. The elements used to support this idea are many different ones. The theme for "The Secret Lion” is loss of innocence or childhood; basically the main idea is growing up. This is the case with Alberto Alvaro Rios’s “The Secret Lion.” The whole story revolves around the twelve year old narrator whose name is unknown. But what we do know is that the character is going through changes that he doesn’t quite understand and it takes some time to assimilate.

The constellation I have chosen for this essay is Scorpius because I am a Scorpius so I have a connection with this particular constellation. The constellation Scorpius itself lies between the constellations Libra and Sagittarius in the southern hemisphere near the center of the Milky Way. This constellation symbolizes a scorpion and has 18 main stars, the brightest of which is the star Antares. I have chosen this constellation because Scorpius is my zodiac and I have looked upon the Scorpius constellation and I have found it to be quite stunning.
The constellation that I chose is the Orion's Belt. I have chosen this constellation because of its orientation in the night sky. The myth behind the constellation is also intriguing to me. The Greek creation myth is one of my personal favorite. Orion's Belt is a group of three stars either vertically or horizontally aligned with each other. It usually disappears from the night sky when the Scorpion constellation appears.
When the Lion encounters Dorothy,Scarecrow, and the Tin Woodman in the forest he confesses that he is a coward and all he wants is for the Wizard to give him courage. He was ashamed to be such a coward because all the animals expected him to be the King of Beasts so he said “‘I learned if I roared loudly every living thing was frightened and got out of my way’”(Baum 68). Just like the other two characters the Lion had courage and he proved that through many different situations but one situation was when they encountered the ditch in which he was afraid of falling but he was able to carry them all over it successfully. When they reached the Wizard he was given a drink that was filled with “courage” which gave him it later on in the story when he killed the monster was able to be ruler over all of the animals in the forest. The Cowardly Lion’s story was just as great as the other because he proved himself not to just be this big scary animal but to be generous, noble and of core courageous.
My favorite constellation is the Aries constellation. This is because, Aries is my Zodiac sign. The Aries constellation is known to be the ram, but this is not true for all cultures. For example, Chinese people think of it as twin inspectors. Also, in the Marshall Islands, the Aries sign is considered to be a porpoise to them. Thee Aries constellation is a mid-size constellation that can be seen from the Northern Hemisphere.
But the young man had other problems and needed to focus on them. The tiger was hungrier than ever and jumped with all his weight on the young man. But the young man got up again and chose to face the tiger and fight him, so he can show the king that he was brave enough for his barbaric and loved daughter. The young man took one of the fire scepters from the edges of the arena and starts defending himself. But the fire fell on the floor. At the beginning it burned one little spot. But then, the cool autumn wind helped the fire spread itself out and it made a huge fire line across the arena. The spectators looked concerned and some of them cried in choirs: “Haaaahhhh!” Others also got up to have a better view of what was happening. Meanwhile the princess calmed herself down and got back to the arena. She was shocked again when she saw what was going on and wanted to help the young man so badly. Slowly tears came out of her big shiny blue eyes and she looked even more concerned than the spectators. She sat down on her royal looking chair next to her father and watched it with her eyes full of water again. The fire made a wide, deep hole in the ground, that was way too big to jump over. But, the young man was lucky the tiger was on the
It was not up until 200 years ago that people started identifying their zodiac sign with the position of the Sun. So when a person is asked what is his or sign, the Sun was passing through on the day that person was born. This can be demonstrated on a birth chart. Our birth charts are special "sky maps" which reflect the quality of the exact moment we drew our first breath. With that first breath, we each began our own incredible hero's journey through life on planet Earth. The birth positions of the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto all play their own unique symbolic roles as messengers and ambassadors of the universe.
