At the municipal level, the city of Hamilton will become one of the first cities in Canada to have legal marijuana stores. There will be an attempt to make it runned by the LCBO when legalized. Since legal marijuana stores will be present in many other cities in Canada, the municipal governments of each city are setting guidelines for how marijuana will be sold. Hamilton endeavor is not to have the stores nearby schools since marijuana is a harmful agent. Also, another city is Toronto where Kathleen Wynne mentioned that marijuana should be sold with LCBO stores.

They tend to have a say in the relation to policy issues like marijuana. Non-government actors are just as significant even though they may not be like government actors. Courts are non-government actors that come after the choices that are made by the government. They have an important preference when it comes the notion of preferred policy of marijuana.
A non-government actor is a crown corporation known as the LCBO. this is runned by the government and when marijuana becomes legal there will be an attempt to sell it through the LCBO. Keeping in mind of the youth, the location will be distant from schools. In relation of prefered policy, photo identification will be asked for buying marijuana. Also, in order to purchase marijuana at the LCBO it is not a self serve, but rather involves professionals behind a counter who will sell it to the individual. Based on presenting information, Mrs. William and Paul were included in the treatment process. However, Peter and the LCSW preselected sessions that families could attend. During the first session, the LCSW began by asking a question Peter what he wanted from agreeing to therapy. Peter responded that he wanted to “get help with managing stress, marital issues and communication tactics.” When asked how he would know that he was getting that helped, he said he would be relaxed at home, and sociable and his marriage will start to feel like a partnership again. This was expanded on when the Miracle Question (MQ) was asked. LSCW: “Peter, if you woke tomorrow and all of your issues were no longer present what are some things that would be different.”
The Mabo case was a legal case held in 1992. It was named after an Aboriginal man called Eddie Mabo, who challenged Australian legal system. He fought for claiming the legal rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait inhabitants. From Mabo’s perspective, Aboriginal people are the traditional owners of their land as they occupied and lived in Australia for thousands of years, much longer and earlier than British people’s arrival in 1788. However, after British people took charge of this continent, Aboriginal people’s life went from bad to worse. They had no legal rights and were treated like animals. Their lives were severely threatened. Moreover, they lost their homes although they were the original owner of the land. After ten years
To begin, there is a 24% tax on all cannabis sales. In just a few days of sales, Breckenridge Cannabis Club has given $120,000 of tax money to the same people in the council who voted to move the location of the shop. This relates to the universal American value of consent of the governed. The locals have elected the government officials who ultimately decide what they can and cannot do, the amount they are taxed on what they can do, and how and where one is allowed to run a business. This proves that even when a business is making money for the government, they still are essentially under the control of those who rule their town, state, and country. The idea of federalism is a major factor in the general legalization of marijuana. Each states has a right to legalize recreational marijuana even though it is still federally illegal. That being said, there are several federal restrictions that come with these freedoms due to the supremacy clause that gives the federal government supreme law of the land. For example, the states who choose to legalize marijuana are required to sell only to those over the age of 21 and have a proper ID, as well as only allowing people to smoke in private. Another issue Brian and Caitlin discovered was the inability to join a local bank since their business is considered a federally illegal profit. While the value of individual freedom is technically fulfilled
People often associate Mexico and Southeast Asia with the main source of drugs because a significant number of drug activities in these two regions are often globally reported on televisions. Nevertheless, Canada also has a problem of drugs, especially regarding the issue of marijuana. In the journal article “Canadian Cannabis: Marijuana as an Irritant/Problem in Canada-US Relations”, Paul Gecelovsky claims that Canada-US relations may be strained because a large amount of marijuana has been illegally exported to America continuously, and American wonder that Canadian policy base on marijuana problem is too light. By reflecting the marijuana issue on the relationship between Canada and the United States, the author presents a strong and reliable argument by appealing to logos through using statistical evidence, appealing to ethos through citing scholarly articles, and using the claims of cause and effect.
An issue that has been brought up in recent times throughout Australia is if marijuana should be legalised for the medicinal benefit of many sick Australians around the country. Medicinal Marijuana has been used in ancient China ever since 2700 B.C and the use has continued for the same purpose as many thousand years have passed. Marijuana could be accessed by anyone in Australia and be used in any area at any given time; it wasn't until 1914 that drug use was defined as a crime, under the Harrison Act. Now, in the 21st century, Marijuana is illegal to be taken in the Australian public although some states allow for small amounts of marijuana to be grown or owned on private properties. All other Australian states hand out fines for any amount of marijuana found in possession. There are many positive consequences that can be concluded if marijuana was to be legalised for medicinal purposes; not only can the use of marijuana cure sickness and other health issues but also legalising marijuana could boost the economy.
Should marijuana be sold at corner stores to anyone? Recently, some of Canada¡'s politicians have claimed to introduce the legislation of legalizing marijuana. According to the policy, the possession of marijuana will not be considered as a criminal sanction. Indeed, marijuana will become a legal substance. People who are over 16 can buy it over the counter just as alcohol or tobacco. Although legalizing marijuana may be beneficial to those people with medical purposes, it will create more problems and dangers to the society. The problems that associated with legalizing marijuana are causing negative impacts on public health and increasing marijuana consumption among youths. Also, the misuse of marijuana may cause people to drive under the influence of the drug, and hence, more accidents may occur, causing more expenses on public health care. Clearly, the downsides of legalizing marijuana outweigh its benefits.
There are organizations that think that the legalization of marijuana would help both the economy and the welfare of society. Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP) is a group of current and former law enforcement personnel who oppose the war on drugs and advocate the legalization and regulation of all drugs including marijuana(Barbour). The positive impact to the local, state, and federal governments should be one of the main concerns to any state that is considering passing the law to legalize marijuana. When it comes to our state, all citizens need to be aware of the positive financial and legal affect for the justice system, cost for our local, state, and federal government. The impact of the legalization of marijuana would have on our society is unknown(Barbour).... ...
Marijuana will be taxed just like alcohol in the United States if legalized . Rules and regulations will be issued by those states to make prevention of drugged driving. There will be laws and regulations to buy marijuana in general . United States history has involved marijuana since our first president . If this were to be the marijuana act would be lifted and the law would no longer be in effect same rules and regulations as california , colorado or washington. Cancer patients would be one of the greatest profiters from the legalization and the revenue from taxing it will come. Colorado’s revenue made 316 million off of medical purposes and 318 million in recreational use. With tax revenue like that we would be able to provide better education and projects for for school systems as I have mentioned previously(Colorado 's Legal Weed). Crime rate as went down in most of the places that have legalized it as well for petty crimes such as small amounts of marijuana and petty theft. The outlook on marijuana is totally different from now and when Ronald Reagan said that marijuana is one of the most dangerous drugs in the world.Marijuana was served for the different purposes then and now by the people. Back then they were smoking and mixing other drugs in with the marijuana which is the reason for legal marijuana. If be have a designated area to purchase their marijuana
Cannabis, since its discovery, has been used for recreational and medical purposes. It was seen as a drug that was “safe” and did put the body at risk but benefited it. However, this is not the case anymore because the government under I Controlled Substances Act (CSA) of 1970 law banned the use of the narcotic and has the right to persecute anyone who attains the substance. Nonetheless, the question is not whether the drug is “safe” to use but whether the States should have the power to regulate marijuana or the federal government should continue having the control over the drug. Since 1996, 23 states including Washington D.C have passed laws that have legalized the medical use of marijuana, yet the federal government does not protect or even recognize the rights of users or possessors. The debate over marijuana has picked up momentum and many would agree that all this uprising conflict can be traced back to the constitution and the flaws it presents. The constitution is blamed for not properly distributing the States and Federal powers. Although the federal government currently holds supremacy over marijuana, States should have the power to regulate the drug because under the 10th amendment the federal government only has those powers specifically granted in the constitution, Likewise the States have the right to trade within their own state under the Commerce Clause.
In conclusion, Canada should not be legalized for marijuana because it causes a lot of negative effects to everyone. Nowadays, everyone knows how bad marijuana is, how can it affect on people’s lives, and how terrible to human. Therefore, people should not use marijuana in their lives for maintaining their health, having a better relationship with their partners and families, and improving the public safety. Also, there are several ways for people or education institutions to avoid using marijuana, schools should teach the right information about marijuana to the next generation, and parents should be good models for their children.
Regulations will be placed to oversee commercial dispensaries on what items are being sold. There are many products that are being sold to the public, which is considered not safe. These regulations are placed to protect the consumers from any possible harm. The potency of certain marijuana can lead to harm for some consumers that can’t handle higher potent (Potguide 1). An accurate and credible labeling is required to specify the potent from specific marijuana. Substances (glass beads) and growth enhancers can alter to a higher potency (APHA) Consumption are not allowed openly in public. For the reason being nonsmokers, and children to not be affected by the smoke. This law would be similar to open container law for individuals that drink
Licensed producers provide patients a legal way of filling their medical cannabis authorization. They have a unique set of rules that allows them to grow and sell this drug within Canada. It is a common belief among today’s youth that marijuana is a low risk drug and that using it is harmless to their health (4). This widespread misconception is a large factor in why marijuana use is so regularly accepted by today’s youth. The percentage of young people using marijuana in Canada is one of the highest in the world, with Ontario sitting among the leaders in that percentage (CAMH). According to a survey done by the Canadian Public Health Association, “Marijuana use represents 90% of the illegal drug use among students” (CPHA), 2012 CP). With so many Canadian youth blindly abusing a substance with no real understan...
Marijuana is the third most common leisure drug in the United States after alcohol and tobacco. Millions of Americans smoke marijuana despite the strict laws against its use. Marijuana is less dangerous compared to tobacco or alcohol. Smoking marijuana can cause breathing problems and coughing just like cigarettes and some people get addicted after using for a while. Regulating and legalizing marijuana will bring Americas greatest cash crop under law, create economic opportunities and jobs in the formal economy as opposed to the underground market. Adopting a legally controlled market for marijuana will ensure that consumers buy the products from a safe and legal source. Marijuana has been approved in some states for medical uses to ease the effects of different health challenges. Colorado and Washington legalized m...
The legalization of marijuana will have a huge impact on the economics of the United States to the point that I feel that government will assist in the continuation of these companies. If it is passed in the government the selling of marijuana could generate millions of dollars in tax revenue. Colorado is the latest state that has approved the selling of marijuana for recreational use. This topic has been tossed around by the officials for years now. Legislators in Colorado have “consider excise and sales taxes on marijuana of up to 30 percent combined” (Frosch, 2013). With the rapidly growing market and marijuana industry rules and regulations had to be put into place. Even this tax charge needs to be implemented and enforced. “These taxes are set high enough to finance the administration of new laws, but not so high that customers are driven back to the black market” (Frosch, 2013). There are many financial benefits as a state can help pay for the enforcement and other fundamental issues. One bad thing about taxing so high is that you can simply crowd out the regulated market. It is important to find the right balan...
