In dental clinic, infection control is a continuous concern for its professionals. They have to contact patients routinely and be exposed to their blood, saliva, dental plaque and pus that may contain infectious pathogens. It is important for the dental professionals to treat these fluids as if they are infectious and special precautions must be taken to handle them. In this essay, I will highlight the scope of infection control practices in dental clinics and the ways through which infectious microorganisms are transmitted in the dental clinic. Also, I will talk about some infection control guidelines implemented in dental clinics and how they meet the needs of the patients. Finally, from a personal perspective, I will mention some factors that affect the implantation of infection control guidelines and procedures.

Another commonly found ingredient in cosmetic products that I found in my lotion is propylparaben. Propylparaben is a chemical considered a Paraben. The non-profit organization, the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, explains, “ Parabens are used to prevent the growth of microbes in cosmetics products and can be absorbed through skin, blood and the digestive system” (Parabens). Parabens have been found in several biopsies from breast tumors and are known to disturb hormone function. The Environment Working Group rates propylparaben a ten out of ten, which is considered a high hazard. Propylparaben are still deemed safe due to the Cosmetic Ingredient Review considering it safe. Research is still being conducted but it is known that parabens are associated to cancer and skin irritation.

Once an allergen is in the body, the body then releases histamines. Histamine allows white blood cells and plasma to enter the tissue by moving through the walls of the capillary. Allergies are a reaction from the body caused by certain substances. These reactions can trigger symptoms that come in different levels of severity. No matter age, body type, or gender anybody can have an allergy. “As many as 30% of U.S. adults and 40% of children”(“What Is an Allergic Reaction?”) have allergies. I fortunately don’t have any medical conditions, but I do have allergies and have always wondered what they really were.
