George’s ladder was gone from it’s usual spot it was later found in an embankment. The engine in his truck wouldn’t start, later someone would say they had seen someone messing with the engine during the night. The buckets full of water were frozen solid. The phones in neighboring homes wouldn’t connect to the operators to get a hold of the operators. Others may say that the children died in the fire. Four reasons why others are wrong, the fire chief claimed to have found a heart at the scene of the fire and he buried it in a box, but it turned out to be a piece of cow liver. Firefighters said that the reason no one saw them yelling out the windows is because they were just children and probably hid under their bed because they were scared. The fire chief suggested that the blaze was hot enough to cremate the bodies. The fire department had found some bones at the scene, but for some reason never told the Sodders about it. The children were kidnapped because there were no remains in the ashes, there were many sightings of them after the fire. There are still a few questions nobody knows the answer to one, What really happened to the Sodder Children? and two Are they still alive to this

Strange things began to happen the next couple days. First, Joey was in the living room of Grandma’s house making a jig saw puzzle. He heard the sound of a horses hooves walking slowly on the street then the sound stopped in front of the house and heard someone put something in Grandma’s mail box. Joey heard the horse walk away and a little while later Grandma’s mailbox blew up. Next, Ms. Wilcox’s outhouse was destroyed by a cherry bomb. Then, a dead mouse was found floating in the bottle of milk that was delivered to the front
At any point in time, someone’s world can be turned upside down by an unthinkable horror in a matter of seconds. On June 20th, 2001 in a small, suburban household in Houston, TX, Andrea Yates drowned her five children in a bathtub after her husband left for work. The crime is unimaginable, yes, but the history leading up to the crime is just as important to the story. Andrea Yates childhood, adulthood, and medical history are all potent pieces of knowledge necessary to understanding the crime she committed.
Bobby Dale Jamison, Sherilynn Leighann Jamison, and their six-year-old daughter were residents of Eufaula, Oklahoma. The Jamison’s were purchasing a 40-acre plot, 30 miles away from their rented residence. The last time they were seen alive was on their home security camera footage. They looked dazed, as though something was not quite right in the house. They packed their belongings, left the home, and were never seen alive again. (Wax, N.P.)
Mrs. Rayfield wrote a great article about the devastation left over after this massive fire. I found that her accounts were very detailed and had good pictures to go along with them. I decided to use this source in my essay because she also showed the good effect that the fire had on the city not only the bad. She had a complete different point of view.
When bringing the children to Josh’s home in Graham, Washington Josh grabbed the children and shut the door on her. She immediately called 911 after not being left in. Shortly after the home exploded killing Josh and the two children. Local authorities treated the act as a double-murder suicide and concluded that it appeared to be deliberate (Merryman, 2012). The official cause of death for Josh and the boys was determined to be carbon monoxide poisoning. The coroner also noted the boys had significant chopping injuries on the head and neck. A hatchet was recovered near Josh’s body suggesting he had attacked the boys before being overwhelmed by smoke and flames (KOMO Staff & news services, 2012). The fire was fueled by two five-gallon cans of gasoline as well as gasoline spread throughout the
In Corsicana, Texas, Cameron Willingham and his family’s home was burned down the twenty-third of December 1991. According to the report, Cameron was asleep when the fire started and survived the accident with only a few injuries, as for his children they were not so lucky, they lost their lives to the tragic accident. At the time of the accident, Cameron’s wife was buying presents for their children for Christmas. According to a witness, her daughter Diane and Buffie from a few houses down went outside and saw Cameron screaming, “My babies are burning up!” Diane and Cameron tried countless attempts to rescue the girls from their room until the fire department could get there.
On October 15 1964 there was a fire at an abandoned church. It was evening and there was a class having lunch outside of the church. Some kids went inside of the church even though they were not suppose too. Then there was three juvenile delinquents that went and saved the day. They went inside the burning church and rescued the little children. If it weren't for them the children would have burned to death. Their names are Ponyboy Curtis , Johnny Cade , and Dallas Winston. Ponyboy Curtis is okay ,he only has little burns. Dallas Winston has some severe burns on his arm but he will get out of the hospital is a few days. On the other hand Johnny Cade was severely burned , has a broken back and might be paralyzed for the rest of his life, if
June Spence the Author of “Missing Women” she was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was the editorial assistant for a newspaper “Missing Women reflects some of her experience as an editorial assistant at the newspaper” (pg209). With that being said in an article June stated “I was working entirely from memory and imagination Google was not something you used then” (Unshelved). In this story I got the impression that people will have different reaction toward missing people. You will also see the different sides to people and how the community tries to come together for the missing.
Joe made it out of the building alive and then he remembered that he had left his pocket watch that meant a lot to him because it had been part of the family. Joe went back into the burning building just to get the pocket watch and never returned from the building. He died. There was a rumor that on the ninth floor the exit doors were locked. The women were trying to get out but they claimed they were locked in. After the fire was put out the firefighters went up into the building and was looking to see if there were any survivors that were left up there and were collecting the bodies of the women that were burned to death. There was a line of thousands of people that had lined up to try and identify their family members bodies. One of the girls recognized her mom because she had braided her mother’s hair that morning before she went to work and it was still braided when she died. All of the dead bodies were identified except for seven of them. The city decided they would bury the seven bodies in Brooklyn on April 5th together. Grief turned to rage in Manhattan and people wanted to figure out who to blame for this disaster. Before the fire happened the workers were all on

If we look at the statistics that have been revealed since the last school closed in 1996, it is said that about 6000 of the 150,000 or 1 out of every 25 children was killed, but only 3,200 deaths were confirmed. “These are actual numbers” said Alex Maass, research manger with the Missing Child project. There were many reasons how the children could have died. The dormitories were disease breeding grounds. Many had tried to escape, but died trying, and some that were caught were killed or severely punished. As part of the Missing Child Project 50 burial sights were found . The schools were not in great condition as 53 of them turned to ashes. In each of the schools that were destroyed by fire at least 40 children were found dead. The schools
Chapter four introduced the different developments preschoolers are experiencing and how to adapt teaching to each development. For example, it said that because toddlers are undergoing lots of physical development a majority of their day needs to be active learning. The different developments chapter four talked about were physical development, social and emotional development, cognitive development, and language and literacy development. I agree that teachers need to use these developments to teach the children. What is the point of teaching if nothing is getting through? When teachers use the children’s weaknesses and strengths to teach they are going into the child’s world and by doing so can give that child a better understanding of the
