World at work statement
Understanding and knowing about yourself
Three key skills of mine are team working, networking and oral communication, all of which are essential in wishing to pursue, accounting. One example of when I demonstrated these skills is during a cultural trip to Kerala with my Sixth-Form. As a group we had to raise over £20,000 to fund the trip. In order to achieve this, we hosted large events within the Sixth-Form and broke off into small teams to raise money. During the large events I worked effectively as a team member, completing my allocated tasks and helping other students with theirs. Within our smaller teams I took on both the role of leader and team member, helping to organise both small scale raffles raising around £300 each and supermarket bag-packing sessions, often raising over £1,500 each. Once we arrived in India our networking skills became very important. We had meeting with head teachers from both choice school and Thomas school. We successfully established partnerships with both and have since arranged subsequent visits. In addition to this we also had a meeting with the Chief Minister of Kerala, during which it was

As a career in accounting requires all three, I have to develop these. To develop my interpersonal skills, I accepted a position at a local shop where is it vital to develop relationships with the customers and often act as an advisor. In addition to this I also had to quickly build bonds with my colleagues, something which will be essential in the world of business. As I am in charge of supervising a small number of customer assistants it as also helping me develop my leadership skills. To enhance my I.T. skills I have also enrolled myself on a Microsoft edX course specialising on the analysis and visualisation of data using excel. I believe the skills I develop from the course will invaluable for an accounting
I develop multiple skills and abilities from various experiences, especially leadership and communication skills. When I took the accounting information system class, I was the leader of the group project, which was to lead and assign group
First there was nothing, then there was something. The transparent being woke up to a bed of stone. Slowly it rose until it saw a bright shining light and a semi-transparent blue box with some squiggly lines. After looking hard at the box, and trying very hard to not look at the bright ball behind the box, like a lens coming into focus, it all suddenly made complete sense.

As I have noted, I truly believe that the numerous job skills that are needed to be successful include dedication, communication, and adaptation. First of all, you must be devoted to your career if you want exemplary results. Equally important, being able to articulate your ideas, and intellectually communicate said ideas will ensure a successful time at you occupation. Last but not least, in order to be successful in your employment, you must be flexible to the obstacles that are inevitable. I urge you to strive to obtain these essential job skills because they are worthwhile.
Communication is something we all humans use. Communication “is the sharing of information between individuals by using speech”. People have ways of communicating some have their weaknesses in conversations and others have their strengths. When I communicate with others I feel that some things I say I do not verbalize right. I have two strengths and three weaknesses in my communicating. My three weakens in my communication are, check nonverbal feedback, to make people wrong and recognize that people understand information in different ways and my two strengths in my communication are being flexible, and take responsibility for the communication.
As a social worker it is important to have basic communication skills in order to connect with clients. There are six basic and four advanced skills that are used in direct practice to make communication more effective. The basic skills include reflection of feelings, paraphrasing, open ended questions, closed ended questions, clarification and attending behaviors. Advanced skills consist of summarization, information giving, interpretation and confrontation. Not only is it important to know what these skills are, it is also important to know what the appropriate and inappropriate uses are. It is also important to self-reflect on your use of these skills, and whether it is a strength or something to continue to work to improve on.
On a daily basis, leaders are expected to communication on both a business and professional level. As stated by Solaja, Idowu, and James (2016) “today’s leaders must acquire effective communication skills for public speaking, listening and critical thinking in order to promotes organizational performance and cordial relationship between the organization and the external public” (p. 100). At the same time, internal communication with upper management, peers, and subordinates require the same level of information exchange.
While working or while looking for work there are certain skills sets that are universally important. No matter what job or career path you have chosen these skills make it easier to obtain your goals, whatever they may be.
Effective communication is essential when working with a client. There are many ways a communication can go wrong. Good communication is a major component of collaboration and collaborating with the client is what a professional should be working towards. The purpose of this discussion is to demonstrate effective communication using one scenario. The scenario, in this case, is as follows:
In the Sixth Form, I regularly attend the school Debating Society, where I jointly hold the senior most position and organize many school charity events in my Senior Prefect role of Charities Coordinator. In the past, this has included raising nearly £3000 on the behalf of an Indian Cultural Society Fashion Show for the Indian earthquake. I was involved in the establishing of the first ever Student School Council in which I was Year Representative.
During the course of this semester; the variety of writing styles and essays assigned to me in my communication skills class encouraged the development of my writing skills, as well as provided me with more self-assurance in my abilities. My writing, research, and presentation abilities enhanced through practice, determination, and the understanding I gained during this course. With every single writing assignment, I learned new innovative approaches and skills, which enhanced my abilities to improve my thoughts logically, enabling me to write more clearly, and to organize my papers more effectively. At the beginning of this semester; despite the fact that I already knew the terminology MAP: message, audience, purpose; I never really understood the significance of MAP. For this reason, my writing lacked clarity, organization, and my writings appeared less focused on the topics. As a result my research papers and essays did not flow as smoothly from one passage to the next. Furthermore, I was unaccustomed with the precise procedures used when writing an essay. For instance, my previous classes before college, although requiring a reference page, did not require me to include proper citations in my writings. After evaluating the quality of my writing toward the end of the semester, I recognized vast improvements in several areas of my writing. By concentrating on the beginning stages of my writings, I could distinguish ahead of time my audience and my message. As a result, my essays are clear, and I remain on topic. In addition to that using transition phrases efficiently also helps my writing to flow smoothly. The proper use of transitions makes my writings easy to follow from one topic to the next. I also learned that pre-writing...
On a daily basis, we come in contact with individuals that we have to communicate with, wither it be for work purposes, educational purposes, or social practices. As active humans we cannot escape the idea of socializing or communication, therefor; we make it a daily routine who we communicate with, how we communicate with them, what we listen to and how we listen it. With this routine habits are formed, some are strengths but others are weaknesses that diminish the communication quality. It is extremely important for individuals to recognize these strengths and weakness within their communication routine. By recognizing their strengths, they are able to improve even further and use their ability to get them closer to goals they may have set for themselves. Recognizing their weaknesses is just as important if not more important.
Working as a team was extremely important when trying to organise such an event and I feel that this has help to develop my skills when working with others, I have gained considerable confidence from taking part in these concerts. I also took part in my schools fair trade group where we were given the task to raise money in order to give a farmer in the third world country the chance to send their child to school. We achieved this by setting up stalls during parents evenings and the schools Christmas concert where we sold fair trade chocolate, rice and cooking recipes. In both primary and secondary I was chosen as a perfect. My role was to monitor one of the school stairwells to help prevent any problems from occurring. I was chosen as I was found to be responsible and mature enough to be trusted in this important role. I have also successfully completed Peer Support Training and because of this I was chosen to help the first year pupils settle into the school. During my career as a mental health nurse I would like to work with adolescents in both community and hospital settings as well as use my skills to take part in some humanitarian aid
