His cabinet had chosen an astronaut as the transport minister, Harjit Sajjan, a lieutenant colonel in the Canadian armed forces and the first Sikh Canadian to command an army regiment as defense minister. Leaders of today must bring along everyone in order to move forward. Justin Trudeau also celebrating his country’s diversity across the border in Canada. The article was written a couple years before Justin Trudeau became Prime Minister. The Author focuses on Justin’s liberal attitudes, especially regarding a hot topic such as the legalization of marijuana. He comes across as a “hero for the people” type of politician. The author of the article skims over a variety of topics concerning what Justin spoke of in Calgary. It is a very short story, but I think that the writer got his point across on the subject of Trudeau’s progressive views, mainly when it comes to marijuana.
It is assumed that she started her career as a fashion stylist in a young age. She is one of the most popular fashion stylists of Canada and her work is loved by almost all Canadians and other citizens. She became more popular when she became the stylist of Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau, the wife of Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. She and her sisters in laws co-founded a charity called The Shoebox Project, aiming to provide makeup to women living in shelters.
“Just watch me.”Joseph Philippe Pierre Yves Elliott Trudeau said in 1970. He meant it as he fought to keep Quebec a part of Canada. Not only did he do that, he managed to be prime minister for 16 years, as well as being Canada’s youngest leader at the time. He brought greater civil rights to Canadians, Quebec citizens mainly. His charismatic personality matched his innovative ideas, that enhanced Canada for the better. For his entire political career, not only did Canada watch him, the whole world watched him change the country for the better. He made a radical change to Canada by championing the idea of officially implementing bilingualism. Trudeau was a trailblazer from the moment he was elected.
The legacy of Bethune had created a mutual solid foundation from which diplomatic ties could flourish. This visit was a success and as a result also paved way to another one in 1973, by Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau. In his visit in 1973, Trudeau became the first Canadian Prime Minister to pay an official visit to the People’s Republic of China. In this visit, Trudeau was able to establish further diplomatic relations with China through his meeting with Chairman Mao Zedong. The two leaders discussed the relationship of their countries, economic reforms, and foreign affairs.
...n of their cabinet, while others may choose to create a new political path without consulting the views of their party. Mellon thinks that the Canadian government is under dictatorial scrutiny, whereas Barker contradicts this belief. The idea of a prime-ministerial government is certainly an over exaggeration of the current state of Canada. There are too many outside and inside forces that can control the powers the Prime Minister of Canada. Furthermore, there are several outside sources that indicate a good government in Canada. The United Nations annually places Canada at the top, or near the top of the list of the world’s best countries in which to live. These outcomes are not consistent with the idea of a one ruler power. Canada is not ruled by one person’s ideas, suggestions, and decisions, but by government approved and provincially manipulated decisions.
Pierre Trudeau is the greatest Canadian of the twentieth century due to the fact that he declared Canada’s independence from Great Britain, he abolished the death penalty, and he created the Official Languages Act, making our nation entirely bilingual.
Pierre Trudeau will certainly not be forgotten, even after his death. In my opinion he accomplished a lot for Canada but I disliked his crazy ways of politics, to me the way he does things don’t make much sense. Unlike other politicians Pierre Trudeau, had four central themes: the freedom of the individual; the political equality of all individuals; the superiority of rationality; and democracy as the best form of government. What is interesting about these principles is that at various points in his writing Trudeau's value for each one of them compromises and even contradicts his value for one or more of the others. In this way, irony becomes a part of Trudeau's liberalism.
If I were the prime minister of Canada, I would strive to accomplish and strengthen three major things. First, I would make sure that our educational system maintains strong and will make others succeed in life, second, I would make sure that everyone has equal and fair treatment in our society, and lastly, I would make sure every Canadian family can live happily by reducing tax.
Sir John A. Macdonald was one of Canada's founding fathers. He is most remembered as being Canada's first Prime Minister, running the government from July 1, 1867 until November 5, 1873. Macdonald would become Prime Minister once again on October 17, 1878 and would stay in this position until June 6,1891. While he was leader of the country he faced his own share of political obstacles, including Confederation, the Metis rebellion and threats of an American he is among the greatest leaders Canada has ever seen and played a significant part in the forming of Canada as a country.
This essay has argued that there are many limitations that the Prime Minister is subjected too. The three most important are federalism in Canadian society, the role of the Governor General, and the charter of rights and freedoms. I used two different views of federalism and illustrated how both of them put boundaries on the Prime Minister’s power. Next I explain the powers of the governor general, and explained the ability to dissolve parliament in greater detail. Last I analyzed how the charter of rights of freedoms has limited the Prime Minister’s power with respect to policy-making, interests groups and the courts. The Prime Minister does not have absolute power in Canadian society, there are many infringements on the power that they have to respect.
If Tim Hortons was going to open in Ajax, it would be located on Rossland Road and Church Street because on the map it acclaims that on the West End side it is very populated, and it is on a major road aswell as it is the only Tim Hortans in that specified area. The pro about the Tim Hortans being located on that intersection is that, if people need a “To go” snack and are hungry they don’t need to travel a far distance for coffee or any other snack, a lot of people don’t have time to make breakfast in the morning or they are running late for work so they can grab something very fast. Since it is located on a major road it is easily accessible to people, and since there is a high school nearby the students can grab stuff and hang out there,
"Today we begin a political revolution to transform our country economically, politically, socially, and enviromentally," said Bernie Sanders. Throughout his life, Bernie has been going against the social norm. Starting from his childhood days to walking with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. while attending college, he has continously showed support for civil rights (Mead). He has continued to do so in a respectable way even in the current election. Bernie Sanders is a working class candidate and has proved that thoughout his lifetime.
After taking the ISideWith Quiz, the results showed that I shared 88% of my beliefs with Marco Rubio. I was not surprised at all with my results. I hold true to my very conservative beliefs. I feel as if this is a very accurate result, because if I were to have to vote tomorrow, he would be the one I would choose. There are many things that Rubio and I both agree should be changed in the next presidency like common core education and the immigration system. There also things that we agree should stay the same, such as gun control.
As a prime minister, Jean Chretien possessed superior political instincts, which helped him stay a member of parliament for forty years. Chretien also often appeared at Liberal fundraising events. He showed outrageous political experiences in terms of pursuing popular policies for the public, and running campaigns. One of his constants was his ability to speak to the public, sometimes blending English and French to connect with his audience. Although Chretien failed in his first bid for the leadership of the liberal party against John Turner in 1984, this did not cause him to give up. Chretien ran for leadership once again in 1990, and this time he won.
