Before I seen this video of John Max 5 level of leadership, I have not thought about leadership as having level in The 5 Levels of Leadership he explores the levels its upsides, downsides, the best behaviors for that level, the beliefs that help a leader move up to the next level, and how the level relates to the Laws of Leadership.
Level 1 Position - This is the lowest level of leadership, and it is considered to be the entry level. People who make it only to this level may be bosses, but they are never leaders. They have subordinates, not team members. They rely on rules, regulations, and organization charts to control their subordinates. Their subordinates will only follow the boss within the stated boundaries of their authority. For example, when a professor gives a group project for the students to do and choose the members in the group instead of the student. Some students will not do any work because it is a group grade and they know that someone in the group will want a good grade. …show more content…

It takes a lot to be able to develop other leaders so that they reach Level 4; that’s what Level 5 leaders do. The leaders who reach Level 5 lead so well for so long that they create a legacy of leadership in the organization they serve.
Pinnacle leaders stand out from everyone else. Leadership at this high level lifts the entire organization and creates an environment that benefits everyone in it, contributing to their success. Level 5 leaders often possess an influence that transcends the organization and the industry the leader works in. For example, Steve jobs was a productive leader because he made sure the people around him were productive, and they respected and followed him because of his legacy.
The things he says made me think, a position does not make you a leader, and leadership is not a noun it is a verb, action
