Social people characterisve them selves as trustworthy and approachable. Indivisals described as conventional people enjoy numbers, record keeping, caculations, and reproduction of materials. This type person generally avoids confusing task and activities that have no structure. Conventional persons value designing business plans and enjoyraving about their plans when deterimined successful. They often time lack imagination and prefer set plans. The artistic person enjoys engaging in creative activites such as arts, crafts, writing, and performing arts. Typically, this person stears aware from anything that require repition and gravitates toward oppurtunities that allow them to be free. Usually these people are self expressive and enjoy their abilty to be indepdent and original. Artistic people commonly hold positions such as authors, theatric performers, home interior designers, and writters. Describe/define your important values from the Value Sort. My top values from the Value Sort are family, intergrity, and honesty. I define family as all decendents of a mutual forefather. Intergrity means having strong life principles, unbroken and upright. Honesty is the act of being truthful. Provide a detailed discussion of at least your top 2 values, but no more than 5 values. In the lives of many, our familes are our first friends, and usually the initial place we learn to develop everlasting bonds. My family has influenced my behavioral characteristics, habits, and contribute to where I am today. Family is important to me because of the countless demonstrations of unwaivering support they offer me whether it’s during happy, sad, or challenging times. Typically, my family is the first to understand my feelings and serve as my greatest support system. My children mean the world to me and any choice I make in life is normally surrounded by them. I have learned the importance of considering how choices in life directly affect those that are closes to you through the relationships I have with my family. My family has taught me the importance of others. Integrity Intergrity is important to me beacuase it keeps a person grounded. When you live a life filled with integrity, you develop the habits of great leardership and practice honesty. Integrity keeps people from questioning their choices in life and live with a clear conscious. People value you as a person when you demonstrate the charachteristice of someone with high morals. Reactions Explore your reactions to and feelings about the results of each instrument. Ironically, the results of each instrument define who I am as a person. I was not surprised at all, in fact in my life time, I have worked in some form of capacity or currently persuing a job as such. Does each overall result fit or not fit your self-perception? Why or why not? Overall, each result fits my self-perception. If we look at the results of the O*NET test, as previously stated, I currently work in both capacities; one being in the junior college arena and my current educational persuit to work in the therapeutic field of counseling. As it relates to the characteristic types, those that I selected line up with my O*NET results as well. As an adjunct in career and technical education I am required to be social. In addition, my work responsibility in human resources ties directly into both social and conventional enviormental interactions. I appreciate the artistic characteristic from the stand point of my hobbies; I enjoy expressing my self through dance, arts, and crafts. As you review the descriptive words used for the top 3 Holland codes, do any of the descriptors not fit your self-perception. Why or why not? In reviewing the descriptive words used from Holland, from a general standpoint, I could attest to being just about all of the words described. Although I would beg to differ about my challenge with change. I believe in change because in most cases changes improves the effiency and productivity of situations. As you review the descriptive words used for the bottom 3 Holland codes, do any of the descriptors fit your self-perception. Why or why not? Although the job descriptions provided do not fit my idea opurtunity, I would like to consider myself a realist type person. I define myself and genuine, honesty, yet sometimes shy, depending on my audience. I see myself as thrifity as well, I can always find a way to repurpose something, which can also goes hand and hand with the artistic side of me. External Influences Describe your feelings and reactions while taking the assessments. During the test, I became restless and experienced a little bit of anxiety. The feeling of unknown ending results bothers me. I worry often about situations and strive to be a perferctionist however, I often remind myself that I am not perfect, I am human and humans make mistakes! I couldn’t help but to wonder, what I would do if my results were far off from the career path that I currently work in and that of which I am persuing. Examine whether intrinsic factors such as race, age, gender, or disabling conditions could have influenced your assessment results. If these factors do not seem to apply to you, discuss what led you to that conclusion. I believe that these intrinsic factors do indirectily play apart to my personal test results. My previous life experiences and rearing plays a major role in molding me into whom I have become, how I values the results of assessments, myself, and what I think my abilities are. Describe any external factors such as feeling tired, being rushed, technology issues, etc., that could have influenced your the assessment results. If these do not apply to you, describe how your environment was beneficial in the assessment process. Considering the fact that I know I suffer from test anxiety, I tried to assure that I took the assessment during a time where there were no distractions.
Just as with any other assessment, I tested during a time when I knew few my family would be away from home. At one point I felt cold, so I adjusted the temputure in my home office so that I could switch my focus back to the assessment verse my body tempature! While taking the assessments, did you think about how your response to a specific statement would affect the final result? Did it cause you to change your response? (Note: This happens and will not be counted against you.) When taking the assessment, I did not change my responses. There were a couple reasons for this, one being, I didn’t believe that a wrong answer or two could determine my interest. If the the assessment really evaluates the personal as a whole to get the results one or two questionable answers shouldn’t make the findings faulty. My second reason for not changing answers was, overall, I viewed this as an familiarization assignment. I considered this an hands on training of istruments I would use when career counseling students.
Conclusions Determining a career path is one of the most challenging decisions a person has to do, for this reason, it was very comforting to discover that I have and am heading in the correct direction to serve in an effective capacity. The results of these assessments appear to relate to each other in many way. Although the assessment provided me with two nonrelated field jobs, they both require me to use social, artisitic, and conventional skills. In both settings, I will and have had to effectively communicate information to people in creative ways.. Participating in this assessment has provided me with ideas o f what I value the most. I have discovered what motivates me and why I enjoy certain aspects of my job more than others.
I am wondering if the questions or demonstration really captured my true attitude and emotions toward the topic. I felt as if I answered all of the questions properly and accurately. I did take the test second, but only due to the fact that the results from the first attempt stated that there was too many errors to determine a result. However, the second time around I read through the directions thoroughly and took my time answering the questions and statements given. I really do not think the test showed an implicit attitude that I did not know about, because personally I feel differently about the whole matter. Now even when I answered the survey statements and questions to/with agree, disagree, enjoyable, and eye opening. I am now rethinking each survey question. I am questioning myself that I did not really answer the survey truthfully. I cannot really say that this test means a lot to me. Because even with the results my feelings and attitude are still the same and worse. I know this test is supposed to help me find hidden emotions that I did not know I had, but now I still feel that I have not gotten to the true root or conclusion of my problem.

This paper is to inform the reader on my specific personality type and how the different characteristics of it can affect my work life. The results from the Jung Typology Test are given showing I have a protector or idealist type of personality. These characteristics are described and then taken into consideration on specific implementations in the workplace.

Holland’s theory of vocational personalities and work environments is the premier structural theory behind modern counseling. His theory structural theory is centered around the basic belief that people will seek out careers that offer environments that are compatible with their interest, likes and dislikes. This basic premise is the foundation for Holland’s globally accepted vocational personality and work environment theory. This structural theory can be explained by four general statements. First, in today’s society, generally most people will fall into one of Holland’s six category types. These types are defined as Realistic, Intellectual, Social, Conventional, Enterprising and Artistic. Secondly, there are six kinds of environments that exists in modern society (Holland, 1966). These environments are also defined as Realistic, Intellectual, Social, Conventional, Enterprising and Artistic. Next people will search for the environment and vocation that allows them to best use there skills and talents, to express their attitudes and values, to take on problems and roles they like and avoid the ones that they dislike (Gottfredson, 1981). Finally a persons behavior is determined by the interaction of his personality pattern and his environment. Holland’s theory allows counseling to define, explain and predict personality types and their compatibility with the work environment. Holland’s theory on the surface may seem simple, but the interest in his theory are useful and can indicate much more than just the types of work a person will enjoy. The many components of abilities and personalities are contained within a persons interest profile.

Intergrity is a bold trait of people with the blue type personality. Personally, Integrity is very important because whether or not anyone is watching, my integrity shows. It shows who i truly am as an honest, helpful, lving and caring person. When i make a promise I try hard to keep it. If i ever fail at keeping it, ill admit my failure and try to make it up to the person. If i ever do anything wrong, again, Ill admit it. I wont hide what really happened because something the untold truth can stay with you forever, Espesically if it's a major situtiaon.

To me, family is the most important thing in my life. They always encourage me to be the best I can be and nothing more. A quote that I think describes family to me is one by Alex Haley that states, “In every conceivable manner, the family is the link to our past, and bridge to our future.” Through the stories I hear from my mother and grandmother, I have a clear link to my families past and the generation of women that led to me. All the values these women held close to them throughout the years have led to the formation of myself and my values. Over the past three generations, the women in my family have overcome oppression. My mother, growing up in a time where women could never have aspirations to be CEO’s or politicians, somehow came out stronger. She saw what she didn’t want for her future, and jumped at the chance to start a new life in America. No single model of family life characterizes the American family, despite ideological beliefs to the contrary (Andersen). My family couldn’t be labeled an “Italian family” or an “American family.” We are a mix of the two cultures and ideologies, which is what makes us different. I am the first women in my mother’s family to be born and raised in America. My great grandmother had a complete different childhood and adolescence experience than I yet we still have a common cultural base. All her ideals were passed onto my grandmother, than all the down to me, a hundred years in the making to become who I am
It is remarkable that by answering a few basic questions, a person can learn key characteristics of his or her personality. After taking the personality test, I learned my general personality type is “The Consul” (ESFJ-A). Individual traits of my personality type are more extroverted than introverted, more observant than intuitive, more feeling than thinking, more judging than prospecting, and more assertive than turbulent. My role is Sentinel and my strategy is People Mastery (“Consul Personality,” 2017). The results of the personality test offered insight into my overall personality type and its social and workplace implications.
Family has a major impact on our lives. From the moment you were born, your family has taught you right from wrong. We get our religion, values, gender roles, language, and habits from our families. We get our status in society through your family’s connection and wealth, which later can determine one’s job opportunities in life. Although we grow up and start to develop our own values and beliefs and opinions, the family values, beliefs and opinions that were instilled in you since you were little never really go away.
They are now able to answer some questions with yes or no and even NA. By making changes like this we are able to be more exact when we observe our strengths and weaknesses. By reading the clarifications that go along with each question we are able to have a more accurate score since we know some of the indicators they are looking for.
I took the Holland Interest Inventory first and my top three characteristics that match me are Social, investigative, and Realistic. Starting with the social characteristic, it completely demonstrates me because I love being with people and I have great skills with working with people and helping with problems. I do “prefer to solve problems through feelings and interpersonal manipulation of others. I was at one time drawn to becoming a social worker and I still am in a certain way. I have no idea if that will honestly fit with my career since I’m a person that loves to help other than being an Administrative Medical Assistant.
When the word “family” is discussed, most people think of mothers, fathers, and other siblings. Some people think of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and even cousins and more on the pedigree tree. Without family in people's lives, they would not be the same people that they grew up to be today and in the future. When people hear the word family they think about, the ones who will help them in any way they can whether it’s money, support, advice, or anything to help them succeed in life. Family will forever be the backbone of support.
My family is who I have socialized most with since they were the first ever people I interacted with. Family has had a large influence over who I am today because they are the people who I learned almost everything from (primary socialization). The reason I have such high morals and values is because of my family. By observing and taking from their behavior I was able to form my own values through nurture. Although they taught me a lot of beneficial things that make me a better person, I have also learned from some of my family members bad habits. My uncle always smoked around the kids, including myself, when I was younger and I never liked the smell and now I associate that memory with cigarettes and it makes me not have any desire to smoke whatsoever. I also had another uncle who went to jail a lot for selling drugs and other related things, and since I definitely did not want to end up in jail I now make smart decisions, and associate myself with people who benefit me.
