The speech called “Texting and Driving…Don’t Do it!” was given by John Cortes. The speech was published on January 7, 2013. This speech was written due to all of the accidents that were caused by texting and driving in 2013. The main argument is that you should not text and drive, it causes accidents and collisions; loss of life; and results in tickets.
The audience that Cortes was aiming for is anyone with a cellphone and driver’s license, this affected the argument because he could be speaking to all different types of people. He spoke in a very simple way which helps to avoid confusion on what he was trying to get across. His style was calm but stern at the same time; He wasn’t very aggressive but he made it clear that texting and driving
