Jeison Aristizabal has inspired and been a hero to many people throughout his life. Born with cerebral palsy, he was able to fight through his disability and do what he wanted, despite peoples predictions. Him fighting even when people told him he couldn’t, helping many people with disabilities, and inspiring lots of people earns him the status of a hero. One of many ways he was proved he was a hero was when he helped many families with disabilities. With his organization ASODISVALLE, he has helped over 1,000 families who have someone with a disability (www.cnn.com). When he was young, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and doctors told him that he would amount to nothing (www.cnn.com). His family had the money to support him when he was young, but he wanted to be like other kids when he grew up. He knew even though he was able to get the treatment he needed, he knew not everybody could (www.cnn.com). He started working in his parents garage, and eventually was able to launch ASODISVALLE, a non-profit organization that helps people with disabilities (www.ibtimes). The final reason he is a hero is because he inspired many people.
He was named CNN’s Hero of the Year award, and said “I want to tell you that yes you can. You can dream and you can achieve your dreams." (www.ibtimes.com). He also said that he figured out that he would be able to accomplish everything he put his mind to (www.vibe.com). He wanted to inspire people with his work, and he did. People say that he has given his confidence to thousands of kids with his business (www.vibe.com). Not everyone may think he is a hero though. I couldn’t find any reason people thought he wasn’t a hero during my research, but some people may think that he doesn’t really care about inspiring other people. They may think he just does it for the money. This is definitely not true, however. Everything he does, such as providing health care, healthy meals, and education for disabled people, he does for free. This proves that he doesn’t care about making money from his buisness. Overall, it is obvious that Jeison is a hero. He provides healthcare and education for disabled families out of the goodness of his heart, has inspired tons of kids and their families around the world, and has proved his doctors who didn’t belive in him wrong by starting a successful non-profit organization. To me, that is the definition of a

Generally when you think of a hero, who do you envision? Most likely, you picture a strong and imposeing figure, someone capable of performing in high pressure situations, demonstrating bravery and passion to help his/her fellow man. Those who typically fit that role in society are firefighters, policemen, and soldiers. Those people deserve all the credit and recognition they receive for their courageous acts. However, what about individuals or groups who aren’t necessarily on the “frontlines” physically protecting others and saving lives, but who work extremely hard to improve the lives of others in some way? These everyday people deserve credit as well. After all, to the people they help, these volunteers or activists are heroes. An example of such a group is the Greensboro Four, a few African American college students in the early 1960s who helped change the landscape of segregation in the Jim Crow South.
African Americans were among the worst treated races in the US; however, this did not stop them from fighting for the rights that so many had died for. It seemed as if black people would never be treated respectfully, but just like in comic books, there is always a hero that will fight for his people. This hero soon came to the scene and he was fierce enough to change the lives of many people. Most importantly, he broke the color barrier and created a path that would allow others to follow. However, something that was inevitable was the threats and racial remarks they had to face.

Dying for something does not immediately make it a good cause.
