The original Jeep was born of necessity, it was hand built in seven weeks with
people that were smart and hard-working. Jeeps have an amazing background as well as an amazing history. Also, the Jeep was the real reason we won World War II. The
Jeep also started a huge new generation of off-roading and 4 wheeling. Jeeps are a
reliable, go anywhere vehicle, and are very strong and capable of anything thrown at it.
After the Jeep won us the war, it turned into a civilian favorite. Race car aficionado
Enzo Ferrari once said, "The Jeep is Americas only real sports car." (Jeep History

to say that no other motor vehicle has ever inspired that

Race car aficionado Enzo Ferrari once said, "The Jeep is America's only real sports car."
Ferrari's assessment speaks volumes, considering his personal interpretation and
opinions of the sports car is vastly different from the Boxy and utilitarian Jeep line up
(Jeep History Through the Years, N.D.). What Ferrari is trying to point out is something
most Americans know intuitively, that our enduring love affair with the Jeep is as
complex as the vehicles turbulent history. That history, fitting for any novel, features a
young country gearing up to fight in a world war, military teacher ship that believe in
creativity as a means of a problem solving, a patriotic engineer with a brilliant mind,
and generations of consumers who appreciate the thrill of driving off the beaten path
(Jeep Through the Year, N.D.). The Jeep owes its existence in part to the early 20th
century engineers who pioneered four wheel drive (The advent of four wheel drive

After World War Two, Jeeps were left in the
Philippines and the Willy's MB's and GPW's were known as MacAurthur Jeeps after
Generals Douglas MacAuthur (MB wins the war, N.D.). But these Jeeps were not left
behind for long, because they have an amazing future down the dirt road.
Going off road is definitely an unusual hobby for some people to think, but others
have a limited amount of fun. When people go off roading, there are a lot more places to
explore unlike being on the road. Going off road is a huge hobby nowadays. To
mudding, rock crawling, sand bugging, and much more dirty activities. Jeeps are
capable of being on the road as well as off the road. Most off road adventures
nowadays are with Jeeps and Jeep is making their vehicle more and more
off road worthy. In 1995, that was the last year they made a Jeep with leaf springs
front and rear. Leaf springs are an older suspension system and definitely have a
rough ride for them. In 1997, they went to the Wrangler body style and there is a lot of
things different but the main difference is it has coil springs front and rear, and with coil
springs it rides a lot better then most of the leaf spring Jeeps. Coils have a
Muscle Car," two distinctive cars come to mind, the Camaro and the Mustang. Throughout the era of the early 1950's and 1960's, there was a revolutionary movement that took place and paved the ground work for today's "Muscle Cars" known as the "Ponycar Era." Ask any avid Camaro or Mustang fan about the ponycar era, and watch their pain. They will describe cars that would light the tires on fire, floor it, and hang onto the wheel excitement. Back in the 1960's a new idea was soon to hit the American market, the Ford Mustang. When the Mustang was introduced, General Motors soon to had to follow with their own type of sports car. The car they generated was know as the Chevrolet Camaro. The cars themselves were introduced within the matter of a few years of one another. From the day that General Motors and Ford realized that these cars were very similar in horsepower, torque, standards, and etc... they soon started to pit them against each other in an all out battle that has still last to present day. However, the Chevrolet Camaro has always had the slight advantage over the Ford's Mustang.

Preston Tucker’s dream above all other things was to make a safe car. Because of this the Tucker 1948 had many revolutionary safety features. Some of these features wouldn't be used for some time by other manufacturers. Every detail mattered so with safety being most important the engineers designed some new components. The instrument panel had all the controls within easy reach of the steering wheel and the dashboard was padded. The initial plans for the car also included a steering wheel that would retract in an accident. Kenneth Lyman even filed Patent number 2511165 for it on Dec 5, 1947 on behalf of the Tucker Corporation (Lyman, n.d.). This device unfortunately never had a chance to make it into the 50 vehicles produced. Even though it was symbolic of the innovative ideas they had. Some of them due to time constraints...

Some say that automotive racing began when the second car was built. For over a hundred years, competition has driven innovation in the car industry, thus the industry maxim “Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.” NASCAR and drag racing contributed greatly to muscle cars’ success. Muscle cars were born from these competitions as factory made race cars. Because of this, the muscle car quickly moved from a low quantity specialty item to the image of the American automotive scene. Each brand had to have one and each one needed better performance and personality than the next. The Golden Age began in the 1960s with the introduction of more performance models such as the Chevy SS Impala and the Ford Galaxy Starliner (Auto Editors).
Flink’s Three stages of American automobile consciousness fully express the progress of the whole automobile industry. From the first model T to the automatic production, it gives me an intuitive feeling of the automobile history from a big picture. On the other hand, Kline and Pinch focus more on a certain group of people--farmers or people who live in the rural area, they use it as an entry point to talk about automobile, alone with the role and duty transition between male and

No technology has had a greater impact on the American life than the automobile. Where we live, how we work, and how we travel, what our landscape looks like, our environment have all been shaped by the automobile. There isn’t a better place that demonstrates the social, geographic, and political changes brought by the industry than Detroit, the motor city. Detroit was situated to be a center of the American automobile industry. All of the material that was needed to build was easily accessible to the city by the great lakes waterways and by rail. The automobile industry helped people with their everyday lives and changed the way people saw the world.

The first automobile produced for the masses in the US was the three-horsepower, curved-dash Oldsmobile; 425 of them were sold in 1901 and 5,000 in 1904--this model is still prized by collectors. The firm prospered, and it was noted by others, and, from 1904 to 1908, 241 automobile-manufacturing firms went into business in the United States. One of these was the Ford Motor Company which was organized in June 1903, and sold its first car on the following July 23. The company produced 1,700 cars during its first ...
I think that the target audience for these cars is the same. these cars are family cars. Both of the cars are designed to be comfortable and safe, they are not advertised to be fast sports cars. or stylish city cars; they are advertised as normal cars. In both of the adverts there is no real reference towards the performance of the car apart from in the Chrysler where there is a reference to the fuel.
Since the development of the steam engine people had been interested in creating self-powered vehicles, this manifested during the industrial revolution as the train. However, as time went on people became interested in creating a vehicle that wasn’t confined to tracks. The earliest attempts were moderately successful but served little practical purpose. Automobiles first began to truly spread with the invention of the electric motor which created cheaper, more powerful, and safer automobiles. Still the automobile still had numerous problems and were mainly in the hands of the rich. It was the development of the internal combustion engine and the assembly line that was truly able to create a practical vehicle that could be used by all and propelled the automobile into the heart of American culture and made it one of the most significant inventions of the post-industrial revolution era, resulting in a complete revolution of society.
There are many different types of suspension systems that are used in cars today, and some that were discontinued due to their uselessness. One example of an older suspension system is called the swing axle suspension. This is a very old type, used in many sports cars in the 50’s, but had disappeared for about 2 decades. This was due to the weakness of the system. The handling was awful, as the camber angle can be noticeably changed by a simple bouncing motion, and the change of the static weight and body roll as the car took a corner. The only advantage to this type of system was that it could provide independent shock absorption. (Wan)
