Have you ever thought when something goes wrong in your life, your life is ruin, done, and over. But its not. Always rebuild from the damage. In A Stolen Life, By: Jaycee Lee Dugard a girl named Jaycee gets kidnapped and raped by Philips Garrido. She finally escapes and rebuild her life all over again. Jaycee made a program to help the aftermath of traumatic experience- family like hers who need help to heal. If something bad happens in your life always live to the fullest. For example when Jaycee made a list of 10 things she wanted to do in the future, jaycee wanted to live life where no one is telling her what to do, and Jaycee wants to be free and just live her own life. One example why even if something bad happens, you’ll always have to live your life to the fullest no matter what is because when Jaycee Lee Dugard got kidnapped she had a list of 10 things she wants to do when she goes home. At this part of the story Jaycee already been kidnapped and raped, while staying in that environment Jaycee Lee made a list of 10 things she wants to do when she goes home. For example, “ Jaycee wrote 10 things i want to do, 1. lose weight 2. do yoga 3. write more 4. learn something new 5. see …show more content…
people I care about 6 .learn 2 different languages 7. lean paraglide 8. travel the around the world 9. learn to snorkel 10. see my mom” (pg. 189) This demonstrate not only my reason why but that Jaycee nevered gaved up and always thought positive and thinking about her future when she goes home.. Another example why you have to always recover from the damage that has been done to you is because when Jaycee got kidnapped she said she wants to go home. Wants to go to a place where nobody is telling her what to do or say. In this part of the story jaycee is already getting annoyed that Phillips Garrido ( jaycee kidnapper) is telling her to do things she not comfortable doing. Jaycee said “ you have to build from where you were braking and make that wall stronger like I did. I had to deal with other people telling what to do” also “ This was the most worst part being told what to do and doing things I didn’t want to do” ( youtube video by Jaycee Lee Dugard) This demonstrate that even if Jaycee didn’t want to be there she was still strong. My last example why if a something huge happens in your life or family always keep trying to live our life is because when jaycee got kidnapped she wanted to be FREE and do things she wanted to do.
In this part of the story jaycee is getting older and realizing that she can’t be here forever she just wants to live life on her own. Jaycee quotes that “ so how can I tell him how I want to be FREE to come and go as pleased. FREE to say anything. FREE to say I have a family. FREE (pg. 185) Also “I want to go home and be myself when I was 11 years old” (youtube video by Jaycee Lee Dugard) This demonstrate that Jaycee wants to be herself , but she is captive and can’t do anything that she wants. Even when jaycee looks back at this moment she could say I still live life and now I am
free. Once again keep trying your best to rebuild your life when things don’t go as plan. For example Jaycee wrote 10 things she always wanted to do in her future, Jaycee doesn’t want to live with people demanding things to her, and Jaycee wanted to live and not stay at that environment anymore. Many teens get abducted all around the world and finally found. Lots of teens think there life is over when theres a whole lot to experience in life. There is a foundation that Jaycee Lee Dugard made its the JAYC foundation. It means just Ask Yourself to Care. The JAYC foundation hopes to facilitate awareness in schools about the important needs to care for one another.

The book “Dead Girls Don’t Lie” written by Jennifer Shaw Wolf focuses on a variety of different ideas and topics, mostly fixating the murder of the main character’s best friend Rachel. With this also comes gang violence, lost and found relationships, and the fact that some people will go to great extents in order to keep a lethal secret from the public eye. Rachel and Jaycee were best friends up until 6 months before where the book started. But, an altercation between them caused the breakup of their long lasted friendship. It is soon found out that Rachel was shot through her bedroom window, which is at first suspected to be gang violence. When Jaycee doesn’t answer her phone on the night Rachel was murdered, she received a text that circulates
The fourth Chapter of Estella Blackburn’s non fiction novel Broken lives “A Fathers Influence”, exposes readers to Eric Edgar Cooke and John Button’s time of adolescence. The chapter juxtaposes the two main characters too provide the reader with character analyses so later they may make judgment on the verdict. The chapter includes accounts of the crimes and punishments that Cooke contended with from 1948 to 1958. Cooke’s psychiatric assessment that he received during one of his first convictions and his life after conviction, marring Sally Lavin. It also exposes John Button’s crime of truancy, and his move from the UK to Australia.
The last example is concerning his incredible athletic ability. Finny and Gene are in the pool one day, and they read the plaque that holds the swimming record times. Finny looks at one and decides that he can beat that time record. He tries, and he beats the record. Gene wants him to do it on front of an official judge. Finny Refuses and says "No, I just wanted to see if I could do it. Now I know"(35). This tells you that he lives life to it’s fullest, since he is just doing this to see if he can. Most people wouldn’t even think about trying to see if they could break the record, they would be too lazy to go find a stop watch anyway.
In the book The Glass Castle, Jeannette Walls goes through more than enough traumatizing events in her childhood. “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” is an accurate cliché describing her childhood. Many times, in each of our lives, this cliché has been said to us or we have thought it when something hard is happening. In April, I moved out of my childhood home and into my cabin which was forty-five minutes away from school. For Jeannette, simply moving houses wasn’t a big deal and more of an excitement; for me it was a big step in my life. Many times, throughout this experience of moving out of my house, then into my cabin, and then into a new house a couple months later, I thought of the cliché “what doesn’t kill you
A Stolen Life by Jaycee Lee Dugard is an autobiography recounting the chilling memories that make up the author’s past. She abducted when she was eleven years old by a man named Phillip Garrido with the help of his wife Nancy. “I was kept in a backyard and not allowed to say my own name,” (Dugard ix). She began her life relatively normally. She had a wonderful loving mother, a beautiful baby sister,, and some really good friends at school. Her outlook on life was bright until June 10th, 1991, the day of her abduction. The story was published a little while after her liberation from the backyard nightmare. She attended multiple therapy sessions to help her cope before she had the courage to share her amazing story. For example she says, “My growth has not been an overnight phenomenon…it has slowly and surely come about,” (D 261). She finally began to put the pieces of her life back together and decided to go a leap further and reach out to other families in similar situations. She has founded the J A Y C Foundation or Just Ask Yourself to Care. One of her goals was, amazingly, to ensure that other families have the help that they need. Another motive for writing the book may have also been to become a concrete form of closure for Miss Dugard and her family. It shows her amazing recovery while also retelling of all of the hardships she had to endure and overcome. She also writes the memoir in a very powerful and curious way. She writes with very simple language and sentence structures. This becomes a constant reminder for the reader that she was a very young girl when she was taken. She was stripped of the knowledge many people take for granted. She writes for her last level of education. She also describes all of the even...
Slowly the burden I had carried for many months lifted somewhat. My cheeks itched and when I scratched them I found tears. In that moment I understood the pain that accompanied crime and I hoped that I would never have to feel it again. I never did feel it again, for I never stole again; and what kept me from it was the knowledge that, for me, crime carried its own punishment.
Living is about making choices. The choices people make shape their lives for better or worse. Even the decision not to choose has its effects, often not wanted. But the individual who chooses to make positive choices and to act accordingly is more likely to see his or her life reflect his or her beliefs and desires. Usually the individual who chooses to take action is also willing to face the risks and obstacles that such choices involve.
Resiliency is one concept that has never been the human races forte. Many things that happen in our current day and age require a great deal of perseverance and resiliency. People often will give in to the problems in their lives and learn to accept them, instead of persevering through them and working out the issues. The fact of the matter is, if you learn to persevere through problems, your life will be a lot more happy and pleasant to live. In Tennessee Williams’ play, “ A Streetcar Named Desire” suggests that you cannot give up on issues; you must be resilient to those issues and persevere to be happy.
Steve Jobs is trying to say that you should live every day like it is your last. He knew his life had value to him and his family. He felt like life was worth living even though once in a while a hard choice would come along to toughen his life. Making a choice is very hard, but when making a choice it should be one that you will not regret later in life. Making choices is one of the hardest things in life so you must see all the good and all the bad to the outcome of your options. Live everyday like it is your last. Ebert says that life is a very precious thing. Hamlet wants to die, but him not knowing what is on the other side scares so he decides to live. Even though Ebert had to get surgery, he got through it and learned to still live his life with no regrets.
Miranda and her family members face abounding challenges trying to survive. Therefore, the theme of Life As We Knew It is to have perseverance and hope no matter what because hope and perseverance helps people to be calm, think positively, and always brings a reward at the end.
“If you can dream—and not make dreams your master, If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim…” Difficulties and Disasters happen quite often, but do not take them seriously because they are not the substance of life, they are the obstacles. “In the fell clutch of circumstance, I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeoning of chance, My head is bloody, but unbowed.” Regardless of the situation, the author is able to tolerate it.

The Soul of Caliban Theme: Don’t let someone change your beliefs our actions for the worse. “Friends that don’t accept you for who you are, aren’t really your friend. True friends will never try to change you.” I think this quote goes extremely well in the story “The Soul of Caliban” when Amelie tries to tear apart Caliban and Leon’s relationship. Throughout the story “The soul of Caliban” by Emma Lindsay Squier it is obvious that Amelie tried to change Leon’s beliefs and actions for the worse.
People don't truly accept life for what it is until they've actually tasted adversity and went through those misfortunes and suffering. We are put through many hardships in life, and we learn to understand and deal with those issues along the way. We find that life isn't just about finding one's self, but about creating and learning from our experiences and background. Adversity shapes what we are and who we become as individuals. Yann Martel's Life of Pi shows us that adverse situations help shape a person's identity and play a significant role in one's lief by determining one's capabilities and potential, shaping one's beliefs and values, and defining the importance and meaning of one's self.
