In this sci-fi fiction book, The Maze Runner, by James Dashner, a young teen named Thomas. He is living in a future dystopian unknown area, where he and strangers are surrounded by walls. Behind those walls is a maze. The maze contains the only possible exit for Thomas and his crew. At first, Thomas wants to explore the maze, but there is one secret he does not know. Personally, I thought that this book was amazing with all of the detail and creativity the author had I really thought that this book was unique.

The author of this book, James Dashner, is an American sci-fi writer. He is currently 45 years old and is married to Lynette Anderson. Dashner was born in Austell, Georgia on November 26, 1972. He know lives and continues to write in the Rocky Mountains. Dashner was influenced by many books and movies like The Shining by Stephen King and Lord of the Flies. He said that the end of The Shining had a creepy scene where the main character is chasing his son through the garden maze. Thomas needs to use his friends to work together to escape the maze and its underlying creatures. Teamwork is one of the biggest factors and the creators of the maze are trying to have them all work together. “Like I said, they wanted to test us, see how we’d react to what they call the Variables, and to a problem that has no solution. See if we could work together-build a community, even. Everything was provided for us, and the problem was laid out as one of the most common puzzles known to a civilization-a maze.” This is the point were Thomas and the crew finally realize that they need to start to work together to beat this maze. This connects with the theme because with a team things can become so much easier. They also need each other to solve this maze
