Bringing trends and having amazing style is truly what makes fashion what it is. Through aesthetically pleasing magazines, the world of fashion is truly all visual and could be considered fun for the average fashion enthusiast. A man with perfectly groomed hair and clean silhouettes in one’s choice of clothing is what people initially see and agree to assume that this individual has certain personality traits that would overall be perceived in a negative light. The average person sees a man in the fashion industry and assumes that these individuals are conceited and stuck up due to the effort put into what is worn. This is often a huge misconception as men in the fashion industry pursue fashion because they have the vision and ability to be …show more content…
In the article Is There Still a Stigma Against Straight Men in Fashion?, an online article, Jian DeLeon states “If anything, as a straight male, it’s made me more cognizant of LGBTQ issues I wouldn’t have otherwise been aware of. It’s an industry dominated by women and people of the LGBTQ community, and I think that’s awesome…” This demonstrates how there are straight men that are proud of the fashion job. In a personal interview with Edgar Israel, Fashion Expert, says “I am not nor will I ever be ashamed of it because it has only benefited me” This also shows how a straight man in the fashion industry is not afraid to show that he has an occupation in the fashion …show more content…

John’s “Metrosexuals Come Out”, referring to the commercialism that has reached the idea of being metrosexual and entirely redefining it. Metrosexuals were once deemed embarrassing or strange, but when the fashion industry began to embrace it, a large number of men did as well. The idea of sensitivity or even femininity in regards to a man was seen as strange, until metrosexuals began to be more desirable, thanks to the fashion industry, who used the angle of these stylish men to make more sales and even go so far as to change the idea that men cannot and should not be feminine. The movement to accept metrosexuals went so far that “[w]ithin a few years, the term was picked up by British advertisers and newspapers”. (175) Art and advertisement changed in this way, allowing for men and marketing to enjoy something
During this process, Draper (2010) examined three distinct eras of editorial that offered an opportunity to cross-examine how gayness helped create three totally distinctive models of straight masculinity through Details. The first era of editorial control, “Not uptight” heterosexuality (1990-1997), “following its makeover features the magazine’s most counterintuitive of straight masculinity through gayness.” (Draper, 2010, p. 362) The magazine involved responses in sex surveys of gay men and alternative-rock musicians, CD reviews, along with fashion spreads where the members were cross dressing, or making out with other men. (Draper, 2010) The three of them “could capitalize on gay men’s perceived cultural cachet while reaffirming their reader’s heterosexuality through the insistence that they were simply “not uptight”, in the end, straight men are not worried when they are confronted by gay men. (Draper, 2010, p. 364)
Besides all the fancy clothes, bags and accessories that we all love so dearly, there are also a lot of negative effects in the fashion industry that has a big impact on society. One main issue that I would like to accentuate is how the fashion industry portrays women through a distorted perception.
In this world, everyone is different and unique, so each person has their own opinion and way of thinking. Therefore, it makes masculinity a very controversy subject to talk about. This subject is so big and has many ways to look at it, so it is difficult to say which opinion is right or which opinion is wrong. Everyone has their own way to think of it, so of course they will have their own supporting story or details to support their argument. Opinions of masculinity are different in everyone and the concepts masculinity is changing over time.
Fashion has been around ever since ancient times, since the time of the Romans, it survived the world wars and is yet today a business with rapid changes. Fashion started off as an art form, a way for the rich to show their social status with unique and innovative designs that only they could afford. It was a way to separate the social classes of the society. In this paper I will include the creators of haute couture, and how the following designers developed couture, as well as leading names in today’s ready-to-wear industry. The list is long, but I chose to focus on the three most important designers in the modern fashion industry.
Our people are too blind to realize what fashion can do to a person. Sure first impressions are influenced by appearances. It’s true indeed that the first trait when people see each other for the first time is what they are wearing. However where do we draw the line? People excessively attempt to imitate runway models or their favorite artists. Becoming too wrapped up following the newest trend or the hottest style this season. Men and women desperately try to mold themselves into fashions “ideal body.” Fashion is harmful to society; it promotes harmful lifestyle choices, can contribute to bullying and often causes debt problems to young woman.
Racism is rampant in the fashion industry. According to Dalton Conley author of “You May Ask Yourself”, ‘Racism is the belief that members of separate races possess different and unequal traits’. Unfortunately, most of the models who walk runway shows, and who are in high end fashion print advertisements are Caucasian. This causes

Fashion plays an important role in the lives of billions all over the world; people, as part of a status craving society, turn to “fashion capitals” of the world for ways in which to dress and carry themselves. New York, Milan, and Paris are leaders among this fierce industry that the world lusts after. Fashion can speak volumes about ones personality, or also about the condition the world is in at the time. In France, fashion changed rapidly and feverously as the times changed.
Fashion and film are art forms that have coexisted for decades, and although they are different, they also possess similar qualities. Pamela Church Gibson wrote in her book Film and Celebrity Culture that “film had a greater influence on fashion than any other form of visual culture” (Gibson 55). Fashion is an important part of film as it aids directors and writers in bringing characters and their personalities to life. Simultaneously, fashion has also benefited from films, as films are a popular source of inspiration for designers, who can be inspired by anything from storylines to characters. In an article, titled Film and Fashion: Just Friends, for the New York Times, Ruth La Ferla wrote that “wittingly or not, those viewers take in colors, subtle tactile impressions or an overall atmosphere that can linger in the mind for years, part of a vast store of images that may surface at any time” (La Ferla).
Consumers today continue to be fascinated by personal appearance and fashion styles. Fashion, and the way we present ourselves through clothing
Fashion is a style, which changes along with time. Fashion is mainly valued by females. Girls are always on the run to the mall to buy new stuff, which suits the new fashion. Whenever, something new comes to the mall, which is related to the fashion, girls will certainly crave this item. Fashion has changed as time passes but the girls will always crave clothing that is related to the current fashion. For example, in this collage a person shows that females like fancy shoes and heels. However, males are not addicted to fashion. Males are never interested in going to mall; they feel that this is boring. Males are more interested in formal clothing such as suits rather than buying fashionable clothing. For example, in this collage a person put a picture of a suit, which is not part of the newer fashion. Males understand that clothing is just a materialistic joy. This knowledge has helped boys stay away fro...
Fashion takes on many different facets and concerns many subsets— a model sashaying down the runway in a gown encrusted in real gems, Lady Gaga’s infamous dress made of cuts of raw beef, a teenage girl obsessing over the season’s latest styles— it is all an expression of our minds and who we are or want to be, made tangible. It is a medium just like any other, for while artists wield brushes and paints, designers use thread and cloth to illustrate their vision. The artistry is none more so apparent than in the exclusive world of haute couture, a world of extravagance that caters to aesthetics, producing one-of-a-kind wearable masterpieces that are made to be admired rather than worn. It is without doubt, high fashion and its design is an art.
To live in style with fashion is mostly preferred by college going youngsters who are the main follower of fashion. Fashion is related with all age of people either male or female in different manners. Mostly girls fashion is too much trendy and advance then any others. Fashion is not only limited to dressing style but it includes all other different aspects of life like the house they live in, what they eat, what kind of work they prefer to do for their time pass and many more. In our country, source of fashion is generally the glamorous and entertainment industry where every week a new style of dressing, makeup and hairstyle is introduced. Some of the people have registered their name for introducing the new trend of fashion in the glamorous world. These are Manish Malhotra, Ritu Kumar, Tarun Tahiliani, Ritu Beri, Sabhya Sachi and many
