In Shakespeare’s writings and plays, sometimes it can be very difficult trying to discover the true meanings behind the stories, and what he is trying to express in those writings. I sat for a while trying to determine this, as well as how it could be applied to today’s society. Finally, one major point hit me, and it’s something that we have already covered. The story of Hamlet is a whirlwind of betrayals, lies, and deceit. With such negative factors coming into such a dramatic plotline, internal struggles are clearly shown throughout almost every character. From Ophelia going completely mad due to her father’s death, to Hamlet’s insanity of Ophelia’s love and his uncles rule, considering he murdered his father and stole his mother. It just shows that it doesn’t matter how well you think you know someone.
You will never truly understand the obstacles that they have faced and there’s nothing you can do to feel exactly what they have. Every person is different in their own ways, and there is only so much a person can take. It is what makes who we are as people, and what makes us different from others. Whether it be killing for power, killing for love, or killing to avenge another loss, it is obvious that each one had an apparent reason. I think that when someone loses someone that they love, or is really important to them, we try to find someone to blame. These days, so many factors could play into why death occurs, and instead of easily accepting it, our anger and sadness leads us to blame someone, the way Laertes and Hamlet did when Ophelia drowned. I think that a great life lesson would be to accept life as it comes at you. That can be very hard, especially with all of the struggles we face in life, as well as the ones talked about earlier in this
