Standard 1 of the Florida Principal Leadership Standards (2011) describe the priority of the school leader as, “effective school leaders demonstrate that the student learning is their top priority through leadership actions that build and support a learning organization focus on student success”. Our number one priority and focus is and always should be our students. They are the reason behind our professions. It is the faculty the ones who should be supported by the administrators. The leaders should celebrate their success, encourage them, support their assertive instructional decisions, and motivate them each day to create the right conditions for learning. The principals must plan to project growth the most accurate possible, employing all the help that they could get for this challenging task. Students should not be affected because qualified teachers are not available. Strategic schools use the resources at had to relocate, and alleviate the human resources problems.

The role of leadership has become increasing valuable for organizations to be successful. According to Huber (2014), Leadership can best be defined as method utilized to ensure that an objective is completed. There are many different types of leaderships that can be found within each organization. In this paper I will highlight an example of a specific leadership style that we come across in healthcare settings. I will review my leadership self-assessment results and discuss the impact of leadership on staff and groups.
The strategic plan identified one key goal, based on the requirements of the Department of Education includes a needs assessment, assurances of current practice, and an analysis of the school’s strengths and the challenge. The plan also outlines leadership accountabilities and pinpoints resources. This strategic plan prepares the school to meet the AMOs determined by the Department of Education, and provides a clear path for improved student achievement and growth, and improved attendance and graduation rates. B. Identify an innovative educational program in your school organization that has impacted the action plan summarized in part A.
However, a formative assessment is ongoing and is used to check for students’ understanding throughout a lesson. Both work samples “matched learning objectives” and I was able to identify the students’ strength and weaknesses. I was also able to “analyze assessment data to understand patterns and gaps in learning” to guide my future instructions. In the word problem assessment, I recognized where the student was struggling and gave “effective and descriptive feedback” to address the area that she needs work in.
According to Judy B. Rosener, Interactive Leadership is when the “leader favors a consensual and collaborative process, and influence derives from relationships rather than position power and authority”. (Rosener, 1990) She also says that it is more prominent in the ways women lead. Personally, it is more effective for me to have a leader that informs me of the vision and can describe with passion what the organization’s objectives are and draws me into the decision-making process.
In every institution the type of leadership style is important for a successful environment. In order to establish a successful school environment to compete globally, the leader should comprehend the basic leadership theories and styles (Glickman et al., 2010). The cultures at schools are important to the success of the students and overall of the school, but also can be very difficult to establish and maintain without the proper leadership knowledge (Waite, 1995). In United States many schools could be place in the categories of conventional, congenial, or collegial, because the strategies used for their leadership (Glickman et al., 2010).The chosen school could be classified according to different criteria and could be determine in which area their leadership pertains more. In order to analyzed and classify the leadership, it was imperative to observed the way the leader make decisions, the approached with the stakeholders, how the instruction is delivered, and how they realized their job (Marshall, 2005). In this analysis will be identify the category that this school will be, the school climate, the type of supervision and leadership.
Principal Pettis has to come to the realization that it is not possible to “have all the competence, all the time, and all the information needed at any one time to get the job done.” (Sergiovanni, 2015, p. 12). She will have to empower and cultivate leadership skills in teacher-leaders to give her an equitable perspective on the needs of her school. In this way, learning is ongoing for all, making the important connection between leadership and learning that is so powerful in successful schools. With these few changes, the heartbeat of the school is
The school’s goal is to achieve an exemplary academic program and to accomplish these goals, we must plan to adhere to the Campus Improvement Plan, and state Texas Essential knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Our district goal is that all students must show significant gains in their test scores of a minimum of 10 percent points as well as AP scores in all subject areas must improve with a minimum of 70 percent of the students passing the exam. Another district goal is that technology must be utilized and be evident in classroom instruction as well as provide an environment that is positive and safe. Examining my school and district goals to better guide teachers’ daily work is to work collaboratively with other colleagues and discuss different ways on how to achieve the district and school goals in the classroom. For instance, if we want our district to show gains of improvement, we must establish communications with all school staff in faculty meetings and provide different options for attaining these goals.
Effective leaders recognize that they cannot accomplish great things alone (Dufour, Marzano, 2011). By adopting this definition of leadership it is necessary that principals within schools, “foster a climate of collegial support and community through which the complex task of administering the school might be accomplished” (Ubbenn, Hughes, Norris, 2016, pg. 3). Ubben, Hughes and Norris (2016) go on to say that the principal is the pivotal point – the catalyst – for what happens in the school. Being a principal is a challenging, yet rewarding, task for those willing and prepared to accept the position (Ubben, Hughes, Norris, 2016, pg. 4). JOB TITLE AND DECRIPTION OF ORGANIZATION
Practicum Reflection This paper will summarize the effort and implementation of a summer-long project per requirement of the capstone course for the Masters of Education in Educational Leadership at the University of West Florida. This paper will be split into two major components. The first section of the paper will discuss the project as defined in Practicum A. I will discuss the following aspects concerning this project: motivation, method, and conclusion.
As teachers, we have to monitor the progress our students make each day, week, quarter and year. Classroom assessments are one of the most crucial educational tools for teachers. When assessments are properly developed and interpreted, they can help teachers better understand their students learning progress and needs, by providing the resources to collect evidence that indicates what information their students know and what skills they can perform. Assessments help teachers to not only identify and monitor learners’ strengths, weaknesses, learning and progress but also help them to better plan and conduct instruction. For these reasons, ongoing classroom assessment is the glue that binds teaching and learning together and allows educators to monitor their efficacy and student learning.
Many people associate leadership with a specific job title or form of power within an organization. However, through personal experience, I have concluded that leadership can come in many forms and position as well as from multiple sources of roles and job titles both with and without power. Based on the definition of leadership, anyone can be considered a leader as long as they have the ability to influence people to achieve a particular result or goal which benefits the organization or group as a whole. Individuals with a secure sense of self and understanding, acceptance of diversity within an organization tend to be the strongest leaders that not only make others want to follow, but they also encourage other leaders to gravitate to their
Education is a very important aspect in the life of a child. The level of success a student has in the classroom is greatly influenced by their teachers. Students, as well as their parents, depend on the teachers to guide them through their education. But who guides a teacher to perform successfully in the classroom? Principals and teachers play an important role in schools. A good relationship among school leaders and teachers is necessary and play an important role in making improvements in the school. Leadership refers to the “process in which one person successfully exerts influence over others to reach desired objectives”. (Okoji, 2015) Good leadership involves honesty, vision, confidence and commitment. It is the ability to inspire a
