Captain, Sometimes tomorrow at your convenience, I would like to give you an update of our TRA to keep you abreast. For now, I will give you a short-brief of how Day 1 and Day 2 went for us. 16 January (Day 1) - Covered the following: Administration, publications, records, and supply review. Comments: Overall Day 1 went well with minor administrative error that was corrected the same day. Not a show stopper. 17 January (Day 2) - Covered the following: Torpedo breakout, banding and Presetting. Comments: G-2 did not follow the Lead Inspector guidance going into Day 2 when he told G-2 that the inspection will start with the MK-54 Torp in the container then they had to break out the MK-54 Torp out of the container and place on the Torpedo …show more content…

Not performing these steps would have probably given them a failing grade. Therefore, I stopped the assessment and asked the Lead Inspector for a re-set for day two. Of course, he looked at me as I was crazy for asking for a re-set since CNAL had never given a re-set in the middle of an inspection before and I was the only one asking for this. Anyways, the inspectors had to consult with CDR Parham first. In the meantime, I called CDR Parham and gave him a heads up about what had occurred and he told me that he was going to call me back after he is briefed by his inspectors. About an hour later, CDR Parham called me back, we (CDR Parham, Lead Inspector, Force OHO and I) had a phone call conference and they agreed to allow us to do a re-set for Day 2. What does this mean for us? It means that we will resume Day 2 on January 23rd and Day 3 will slide to January 24th. Now that we have a second chance to recover from this mistake, I will be personally and directly involved with this TRA and I will make sure I drive this inspection to the finish line. I hate to take over like this but I cannot afford any more mistakes coming out of G-2. We have to be flawless
