1) What was the biggest challenge in doing this week's work?
The biggest challenge this week was finding the right proposal for my second paper since I did not quite understand the instructions in the task sheet. However, that issue was resolved when I called you and you told me what my objective was. Once I finally understood what to do, I sent out another proposal and it was approved.
2) What did you learn about getting feedback on your draft and revising it?
I learned that revising my draft was hard and it involved a lot of work to make sure everything was correct and proper. However, I felt overall that I did a decent job in writing my final paper.
3) What did you learn about yourself as a learner?
I learned that it still hard for me to find information and sources for my papers. Therefore doing research on my papers I have discovered can be difficult for me. Another thing I learned about myself as a learner is I am not a multitasker. I discovered this since this week I had to many thing to do at once. I should probably cut back on my schedule during the summer and only take one class so I can focus more on that class. Instead, this semester I felt very scattered with all the classes I had.

I found that I needed to completely re-do my paper. The thesis in the rough draft was unclear, thus, I wrote a clearer more concise thesis. The rough draft I completed seemed to be all over the place, and nowhere pacific. I needed to make the changes in my commentary essay, because the draft was rushed, full of grammar errors, and not clear to the reader. Sometimes, as a writer, you have to keep going back to the drawing board. I had a bit of difficulty with this particular essay, however, with the revisions in place, I feel more confident.
Developing as a writer is an important skill you need for the rest of your life. My papers have not been the greatest but they do reflect me as a writer. I chose to revise the works that I thought I worked hard on and did my best to get my point across in a neat and consistent manner. The papers I chose were the literacy narrative, the synthesis essay, and the argument essay. I thought these papers really reflected how I have grown as a writer and developed better writing skills.
Difficulties came earliest in the year. After my first six weeks the class received our first progress report. On my progress report I had received
According to Donald M. Murray in The Makers Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscripts “A piece of writing is never finished”. Before this class, I didn’t really revise my essays
This week I was better prepared then last week. I was able to post all of my discussions and respond by the due dates posted. Can’t believe that we are halfway through the term already. I’m looking forward to next week. I have even gotten started on paper 2 early. Have a Happy Easter!
It has been around 14 hours since I have gotten back from the Freshmen Retreat, and I happy to be able to write about the success of the trip in all parts, regarding my personal goal, what I learned about my fellow advisory peers, and realizing a bit more about myself.
With that said we were able to move on and look at the evaluation. For the portion under patient centered care we both feel I am at the developing area for number one. I can gather information from my patients to get a comprehensive psychosocial and physical history, but I do need work with consideration for cultural, spiritual, and social considerations. I need to work harder at keeping my interviews focused, leading the patients yet keeping the line of questioning open for better communication.
The strategies that I will use in my final draft are making sure my writing is in the third person, double check my in-text citing format as well as double check the wording to make sure I am using the correct words and grammar. I really appreciate the instructor’s feedback from this essay and the reflection. Sometimes we are our own worst critic and after I read my work several times, I still do not feel confident in my abilities. However, every time I get a feedback from the professor. I am more and more confident, that I made the right choice to go back to school and that, I will be successful in my new chapter. I chose these strategies in order for my paper to be accurate and completed. As of now, I think I am getting the hang of it and
For the forty odd pages we wrote for this class, I feel that the overall achievement was getting practice. I wasn’t required to write many papers in high school so for me the constant writing was helpful for me. I can really tell a difference in the way that I write now from the way that I wrote at the start of this year. I’m really looking forward to next year, because seeing yourself improve over a short amount of time really is
This week was very interesting. I started out doing childcare again at the shelters, however, at the AARC office I got the chance to sit-in on a advocate and a survivor working on trying to get her a protection order on her boyfriend. After the woman finished writing the statement we then took it to the courthouse and I was able to observe that.
You came up with many interesting things to discuss, especially when you and I had that conversation about allergies on Monday. I also was very fascinated at how you already went on to iD Game Plan on Sunday night, and you were always engaged in the material and was moving ahead. I thought that your idea for your final project showed your creativity and ingenuity. I hope that your love of programming will continue to thrive and you will one day find success as a brilliant programmer or game
It was a task that took a significant amount of time and effort, but was truly an excellent learning experience. I found it intriguing how much the original essay can improve or modify over time; moreover, how different ideas flow through your brain each second. The revision of my essays taught me an enormous deal about writing and was genuinely pleasurable to do.
On the first day of class, I was not confident in my writing. I was in honors english last year, however, I did not do too well on essays. Being that I never received an A, I assumed my writing was not as good as it should be. Now, I earned a 6, almost 7, on the 9 point scale and am beginning to feel more confident. I do feel that I have been appropriately challenge this semester. I did not find any of the assignments to be too easy. I have definitely felt challenged this year, I have learned multiple techniques that I never knew prior to taking this class. As a whole, I am happy with the experiences I was provided in this class. The last essay I wrote, I was given the opportunity to meet with Mr. Perry after school one on one for help which was extremely beneficial. Also, I appreciate the fact that Mr. Perry reads our entire essay commenting on what went wrong or suggests ways to improve it. Revising essay really helps not only my grade, but also my overall understanding of what I did incorrectly. Overall, I am extremely happy I took this class and I continue to benefit in multiple ways.
Over the course of the semester, I have learned a few things about myself. I have learned that I can be independent, I always knew myself as someone who could do mostly everything on their own. This semester really made me realize how independent I could actually be. Not only have I learned how independent I am I have also realized the importance of time management. With not having a strict class schedule it was a lot different than what I was originally used to. After a few weeks, I learned ways that would work best for me, for example writing down that I needed to get done. I learned that I need to focus on what 's ahead of me to accomplish what I want to succeed in, to manage what needs to be done ahead of time to stay caught up.
I learned the importance of making several drafts for one paper. Every writer can always make improvements because a paper is never perfect on the first draft. At least three drafts should be made before submitting. Secondly, it is important for ideas to be organized. One idea should smoothly transition into the next for the reader to easily understand the author’s arguments. Thirdly, it is helpful to have others give corrections on the student’s paper. Asking the professor or peers for critiques allows to see possible errors and ways to make the paper
