Tom Brady Scandal Today I’m here to talk about how Tom Brady is a cheater. On February 1, 2015 super bowl XLIX was played. The game ended with the New England Patriates defeated the Seattle Seahawks 28-24. The balls used by the Patriates put in Tom Brady’s hands had been deflated prior to the game. The game was played in an over cast and rainy weather forecast. Where deflated balls would be easier to catch/throw. …"more probable than not" that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady knew of rule-breaking… (Smith) Which was going to result in a one million dollar fine to the New England Patriates and a four week suspension for quarterback Tom Brady. In the four game suspension Brady is to go without pay, (which is pocket change for him.) Yee released a statement Monday saying, "The discipline is ridiculous and has no legitimate basis. In my opinion, this outcome was pre-determined; there was no fairness in the Wells investigation whatsoever. There is no evidence that Tom directed footballs be set at pressures below the allowable limits." (Yee) A statement from Brady’s agent who is very upset over the matter. …show more content…
Many people and there is evidence that Brady is innocent.
News of Brady's suspension follows the release Wednesday of a 243-page report that was commissioned by the NFL. It cited evidence from scientific studies to phone records and concluded that "it is more probable than not that New England Patriots personnel ... were involved in a deliberate effort to circumvent the rules." …league's required levels unearthed text messages and other communications between two of the team's employees, who joked about Brady's preference for underinflated footballs. (Smith) This more likely shows that Brady had no idea about the Deflation and it was the employees that deflated the
balls. The investigation into why some of the Patriots' footballs were inflated notably below the league's required levels. The minimal inflation level for NFL footballs is 12.5 Psi one football used in the game was well under the limit at 10.5 psi. Which was set to 13 psi during the inspection done by veteran league officials. So the deflation of the balls was done after the routine inspection done before and after every game. (Smith) Emily Rooney from wgbhnews.com believes Brady’s innocent because there is not a shred of evidence that Brady was involved in any way with game balls before the AFC championship in January. (Rooney 2) Emily Rooney is one of many that doesn’t believe that there isn’t enough evidence that can convict Brady for the conviction of deflating the game balls. As she predicted the decision on Brady’s case was over turned last week by the Courts. The judge said “there isn’t enough evidence that can convict Tom Brady of cheating in super bowl XLIX.”
In the Conference Championship against the Pittsburgh Steelers during the game, Brady went down with an injury, but luckily Bledsoe finished the game out and won. The Patriots were heading into the Super Bowl as huge underdogs expecting to get crushed by the St. Louis Rams in the “Greatest Show on Turf.” Brady got the starting job for the Super Bowl and led the Pats to a seventeen to three lead at the half. The Rams came back in the 2nd half and tied it at seventeen to seventeen with less than two minutes remaining most people thought that the Pats should run the clock out and go to overtime, but instead “Tom Terrific,” and the Patriots drove down the field in spectacular fashion to get into field goal range. Bam! Tom Brady the 199th pick who became the seventh string quarterback was now the youngest QB to win a Super

The National Football League has always been evolved in some sort of scandal and Nick Anderson, the cartoonist of Football Emergency, has a very strong opinion of the NFL. His cartoon is easy enough for anyone to understand whether or not they follow the NFL but is much more interesting with a little football knowledge. He tries to argue that the NFL is focusing on useless scandals like deflated footballs instead of the more pressing issues of domestic violence and concussions.
“I'm a pretty good winner. I'm a terrible loser, and I rub it in pretty good when I win”-Tom Brady (brainyquote.com). Tom Brady is the New England Patriots starting quarterback, and without a doubt he is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. In fact without him the Patriots would have never even went to a Super Bowl. Now that the Patriots have the legendary Tom Brady on their team they went to six Super Bowls and even won four. However Tom Brady wasn't always as good as he is now he started from the bottom like everyone else.
The NFL has multiple reasons for maintaining a tough drug policy. Former NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle stated that serious health problems occur for players who abuse drugs. Additionally, since the NFL is a billion dollar business, they have an interest in maximizing productivity from its players and alcohol abuse hinders that. It says in the Marquette Sport Law Journal, “The league has an interest in protecting the safety of all players” (Sisson and Trexell 11). Players who abuse alcohol or any drug for that matter put themselves and other players at risk. In 2012, Dallas Cowboy defensive tackle Josh Brent killed his teammate while driving under the influence of alcohol. He was released by the team three weeks after the incident and does not play in the NFL anymore. There are numerous incidents of players getting into trouble because of alcohol.

Brennan goes on to state that hopefully the pcitures will have the same effect on Hardy's career as the video did on Rice's. Brennan is another journalists that is asking, "Why does it take pictures to wake us up to what we already should have realized?" She believes Jerry Jones is wrong in calling Hardy a "Leader" , but that he is more of a monster. Roger Goodell and other NFL executives have seen some of the pictures that Deadspin has shown and she wonders why the NFL didn't kick Greg Hardy out right then and there. What is even worse is that some of the NFL Players Association representatives, who saw some of the photos, fought and successfully reduced Greg Hardy's
Per utilitarian ethics, no matter the link between football and CTE, the research the NFL’s actions would be considered ethical. Lack of certainty in the research makes deontological ethics more difficult to implement. Since the research did not directly related football to the brain injuries, there is not the same obligation to disclose research that is not definite. Parallel to if the information was conclusive the NFL fell into the ethical traps of money and conflict of interest. The NFL still had to wrestle with ethical traps even if the it was considered ethical to not disclose the research. Since the research could not exclusively blame football concussion to permanent brain injuries, the ethical decision was not as black and white as
