Many think Tom Brady is a great quarterback. He has great statistics and has won many Super Bowls. Imagine everyone’s surprise when he was accused of deflating footballs. Should Tom Brady get suspended for the deflation? Many people might say get rid of him, and some might say let him keep playing. There are many more questions that need to be answered but there are only so many answers that have been given. Is Tom Brady guilty and how do they know? I do believe that Tom Brady cheated but in a way, it’s not all his fault. He was out on the field playing when the ball was handed to him so there were more people involved than just Tom Brady. There are many people employed to inspect and watch the equipment. So, should Tom Brady be the only one in trouble for it? No, but should he get punished for it? I think he should. no punishment is give, others will start to deflate balls also due to no consequences. The refs in the NFL were also a part of this problem because whenever a football goes into play on the field, it gets handed to the refs, then taken out to the line of scrimmage, and placed at the point of play. During this process, the ball was carried by the ref the whole time. He should have realized that the ball didn’t feel the same. He should have felt the ball and realized that it wasn’t as pumped up as it should be. He should have taken it back over to the sideline where he got and addressed the situation. The staff who pumped or deflated the ball should be fined be placed on probation or fired.
They should have followed the NFL rules and made sure the correct air pressure was in the balls. Maybe one of the coaching staff or one of the players told them to do that, but they should have known the difference between right and wrong and realized that there may be consequences. The coaches should also get in trouble for their role in the deflation. The coaches let this happen and they know that the NFL is totally against it. In a way tom Brady shouldn’t be punished because he was not caught inAction deflating the ball he was just catching the heat because he was theCaptain of the team and he hast to be a role model and the media wanted To put it all on him because he’s the star of the team. Should tom Brady get in trouble for the deflation? Tom Brady should get in trouble for the deflation because after the play he should have realized that the ball didn’t feel the same. Tom Brady should get suspended for four games.hes a cheater and he should be put out for a couple of
games.
This is a flawed system that needs to be changed for the better enjoyment of NFL fans, and to make it fairer for coaches and play...
Professional athletes serve as role models for younger players. However, some of them are terrible examples to follow based on the way conduct themselves and constantly lie. Sports writer from The New York Times, Michael Schmidt reports, “The 19-page indictment charged Clemens, 48, with three counts of making false statements, two counts of perjury and one count of obstruction of Congress during his testimony in a nationally televised hearing in February 2008 before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform” (Schmidt). Roger Clemens was charged with six total felonies. This might be the most severe attacks of someone's integrity. Five of his six charges were directly related to lying under oath of congress. This is not the type of person that the Hall of Fame should want representing them. More importantly, it is even worse when a player testifies in front of judges and says he never taken steroids. Ever. When looking back at symply baseball statistics, Rafael Palmeiro can be found in many record books for hitting more than 500 home runs and 3,000 hits. However, six months after he swore he never took any type of substance, he was found guilty and suspended (Harris). Rafael Palmeiro is one of the greatest hitters to every play the game. There is no denying his impressive stats. These stellar numbers are later tainter after it is discovered he has
News of Brady's suspension follows the release Wednesday of a 243-page report that was commissioned by the NFL. It cited evidence from scientific studies to phone records and concluded that "it is more probable than not that New England Patriots personnel ... were involved in a deliberate effort to circumvent the rules." …league's required levels unearthed text messages and other communications between two of the team's employees, who joked about Brady's preference for underinflated footballs. (Smith) This more likely shows that Brady had no idea about the Deflation and it was the employees that deflated the
Barry Bonds should be convicted of using steroids because of the evidence that has been discovered. The urine samples that Major League Baseball took from Bonds have shown evidence that indicate he has used performance enhancing drugs. “A person who has reviewed the evidence said that the authorities detected anabolic steroids in urine samples linked to Bonds that the authorities gathered in connection with their investigation” (Schmidt). This fact indicates that Major League Baseball knows that he used the steroids, but the officials are too languid to make Bonds come out and tell the truth instead of lying like he has in the past. Congress also has taken urine samples from Bonds, but has listed them and marked them as confidential evidence. Also, Barr...
Even though athletes get special treatment they never think about how them getting off easy can back fire. The Ray Rice case is a prime example of how it was a downfall in their career. Rice got released from the Baltimore ravens and since then he has not play football. The NFL suspended him indefinitely, but it was later lifted because he did not lie to the commissioner about the domestic violence case. He was free to play again, but no team signed him because it was going to come with a ton of backlash and no team wanted to deal with that because it would have been a distraction to the team. Also, many people lost respect for Rice for putting his hands on a women. No one would look at him the same anymore. He has yet to sign with any team since the incident took
At the same time players like Matt Forte, running back for the Chicago Bears, believes that all of these rules are becoming an issue (Dunkak). Dunkak can argue that every rule is contradicting to what the offense does and what the defense does. For instance Ndamukong Suh, Detroit Lions Defensive Tackle, was sued for a hit on quarterback, Brandon Weeden, from the Cleveland Browns. The hit appeared to be a “clean hit,” as Suh put his helmet in the middle of Weeden’s chest to take him down. Nonetheless, the NFL made it illegal to use any part of a players’ helmet to violently take down an opponent. Also, Detroit Lions Kicker, David Akers, compares the NFL to a golden goose by saying if you change it too many times, all of the sudden you do not have that great of a product
Tom Brady is a very well known player in the NFL and a 3 time Super Bowl winner. He was also the youngest quarterback to lead a team to the superbowl and MVP at two of those Super Bowls. Along with that he is married to model Gisele Bundchen. There is no doubt that he has had a very successful life so far this is when his story begins.
Do you think media coverage of the National Football League is fair? The media has been interfering with players personal life and it is not ok. Such as the incident with Johnny Manziel, Jerry Rice, and Adrian Peterson. Johnny Manziel committed domestic violence against his girl friend, Jerry Rice punched his girlfriend, and Adrian Peterson committed child abuse. In addition to those crimes there have been many more. These issues have all dealt with law breaking, and media tells the public. This is interfering with player careers, it’s putting pressure on the NFL, and also affecting many youth football leagues. The media coverage of the NFL’s problems is not fair because the NFL has bigger problems to worry about, players are leaving teams, and parents are not letting there kids play football.
Despite a dominant 40-10 win against the San Fransisco 49ers, it is not all good news for the Dallas Cowboys looking back on Sunday evening’s showing. The Dallas Cowboy’s lost All-Pro kicker, Dan Bailey, mid game, due to a groin strain in his kicking leg. It was announced this morning that Bailey could be out for several weeks while recovering.
Cheating is a big deal in any situation. But when it comes to sports, it is one of the worst things to do because it diminishes the pureness of the game.
Even though research can be done to determine if Roethlisberger has a deteriorating frontal lobe and consistent brain trauma, one cannot take back the actions that he has already committed. I believe that Roethlisberger should accept responsibility for any individual he has violated sexually or emotionally, but I believe that we as a society should work to determine if individuals, such as Roethlisberger, act the way they do because of injuries beyond their control. I would suggest that Big Ben maintains his stature on the field, but adopts a consistent monitoring system, where researchers can help him help himself through various forms of treatment.
It's nothing new for the National Football League's players to be abusing anabolic steroids and other performance enhancing drugs. Drug abuse in the league has recently focused around recreational drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, and alcohol. The newest drug being abused is painkillers. The commissioner and his personal need to change their policies. Will they wait until many more players start to die before they tighten up their drug policies? The National Football League (NFL) can stop most of these drug problems by having more random drug tests given, enforcing stricter punishments when players are caught using drugs, and requiring every team to educate its players annually on the effects and consequences of all drugs.
Per utilitarian ethics, no matter the link between football and CTE, the research the NFL’s actions would be considered ethical. Lack of certainty in the research makes deontological ethics more difficult to implement. Since the research did not directly related football to the brain injuries, there is not the same obligation to disclose research that is not definite. Parallel to if the information was conclusive the NFL fell into the ethical traps of money and conflict of interest. The NFL still had to wrestle with ethical traps even if the it was considered ethical to not disclose the research. Since the research could not exclusively blame football concussion to permanent brain injuries, the ethical decision was not as black and white as
The Saints need to be responsible for the safety of all players and not just their own. Another issue they lack in is sportsmanship. Sportsmanship is a major part of football, without sportsmanship it doesn’t help anyone out. Saints did not show good sportsmanship what so ever, they didn’t care about the safety of others or the liability that was occurring (“What is”, n.d.). The situation says that the New Orleans Saints organizational culture is poorly managed (“What is”, n.d.). The system that they have going is unethical by the means of everyone invovled (“What is”, n.d.). They need to worry about safety, their reputation, fans, and more importantly the players. Even after all that has occurred in the bounty gate scandal there is hope. The team can rebuild their reputation. They can do this but earning their fans trust back by giving back (“What is”, n.d.). Giving back by showing them that the team cares. The Saints can raise money, donate money to foundations; foundations that deal with business. By doing so the New Orleans Saints can regain and earn everyone’s trust. The team itself has to practice responsibility, trust, integrity, and sportsmanship amongst themselves (“What is”, n.d.). From there their reputation will slowly rise
I disagree with his view that the fans are to blame for this cheating because the only person to blame for drug use is the player himself. In blaming the fans, athletes are given a way to escape facing the consequences of their actions. Choosing to take drugs is personal and no one forces the players to do the drugs. When a player does make the choice to use steroids, then he must face the fact that he is cheating and making a dishonest
