There are thirty-two American football teams in the U.S., and the New Orleans Saints is one of them. A National Football League (NFL) team that originate from New Orleans, Louisiana. New Orleans Saints is a team that fans point at when it comes to unethical decisions. The press and investigators believe that the disputes have been going on a three year span, 2009-2012 (“New Orleans”, n.d.). The title of this uproar that lasted for almost three years is called the ‘Bounty Gate Scandal’. This scandal is known for the New Orleans Saints paying out bonuses to players for taking out opposing players of the game by injuring them (“New Orleans”, n.d.).
Ethics Come First
Ethics is a big part of football today, and how each team is different when

Some issues that may upraise for the Saints will be lawsuits, suspensions, and or rejections from the NFL (“New Orleans”, n.d.). This is a choice that the players agreed to just for some for extra cash. It is not like these players do not make enough money as it is. Due to the players agreeing to the kill shots, they face the same consequences as the coaches ordering them. The organization that the Saints have with their players is sloppy (Battista, 2012). If the coaches want to play dirty and pay their own players to hurt opposing players to win; then their system of doing things is very …show more content…
The Saints need to be responsible for the safety of all players and not just their own. Another issue they lack in is sportsmanship. Sportsmanship is a major part of football, without sportsmanship it doesn’t help anyone out. Saints did not show good sportsmanship what so ever, they didn’t care about the safety of others or the liability that was occurring (“What is”, n.d.). The situation says that the New Orleans Saints organizational culture is poorly managed (“What is”, n.d.). The system that they have going is unethical by the means of everyone invovled (“What is”, n.d.). They need to worry about safety, their reputation, fans, and more importantly the players. Even after all that has occurred in the bounty gate scandal there is hope. The team can rebuild their reputation. They can do this but earning their fans trust back by giving back (“What is”, n.d.). Giving back by showing them that the team cares. The Saints can raise money, donate money to foundations; foundations that deal with business. By doing so the New Orleans Saints can regain and earn everyone’s trust. The team itself has to practice responsibility, trust, integrity, and sportsmanship amongst themselves (“What is”, n.d.). From there their reputation will slowly rise
The New Orleans Saints Bounty scandal was widely known as “BountyGate”. This was a scandal in which the Saints organization were accused of paying NFL players bonuses, or “Bounties”, to intentionally injure opposing team's players to gain an advantage. None of the hits or tackles seemed to be illegal or even penalized by an in-game official. the scandal was declared to have been in action from 2009 (the year the Saints won the Super Bowl) to 2012.
The NFL position in this article makes them look very greedy and indifferent about the overall health of their football players. One of the ethical perspectives that can be used to analyze the NFL's position in this article is deontology. Deontology is the perspective where rules is the defining factor for ethical decisions. From the deontology perspective it makes it seem that the NFL has decided not to follow the rules and even blurred the lines as to what potential injuries their players can get. They wanted their injured players to play without having to follow through the with proper procedure in verifying that the players are in conditions healthy enough to play. It looks as if the NFL cares only about bringing in money and not care about

coaches should also get in trouble for their role in the deflation. The coaches let this happen and they know that the NFL is totally against it.
Football is a very violent sport. There is a lot of concern over the risks posed by hits that injure the head and potentially the brain. The players say they have suffered one or more brain injuries. They want the NFL and helmet maker, Riddell, to set up and pay for medical monitoring and treatment programs for all former, current and future NFL players. Liberals are big supporters of the respect for human dignity. In that case, the NFL tentatively agreed to pay $765 million to past players with health problems that can be caused by concussions. Although research and progress within the scientific and medical communities is understandably slow, the same could be said about the NFL's response to concussions and the dangers they pose to new research reveals new findings. However, some liberals believe that it has taken to long for the NFL to respond to the perceived crisis and its attempt to regulate the concussion treatments which could eventually lead to players ...
At the same time players like Matt Forte, running back for the Chicago Bears, believes that all of these rules are becoming an issue (Dunkak). Dunkak can argue that every rule is contradicting to what the offense does and what the defense does. For instance Ndamukong Suh, Detroit Lions Defensive Tackle, was sued for a hit on quarterback, Brandon Weeden, from the Cleveland Browns. The hit appeared to be a “clean hit,” as Suh put his helmet in the middle of Weeden’s chest to take him down. Nonetheless, the NFL made it illegal to use any part of a players’ helmet to violently take down an opponent. Also, Detroit Lions Kicker, David Akers, compares the NFL to a golden goose by saying if you change it too many times, all of the sudden you do not have that great of a product
If there’s one thing we dread in the summer more than the heat, it’s the afflicting sentiment that surrounds oneself when one is inhibited from experiencing the thrills of football for six long and gruesome months. National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) football is a part of many Americans’ Saturdays, but to fewer does it mean their lives. Recently coming under debate, many sporting fans and college athletes believe that players should be paid more than just tuition, room, board, and books. Two articles on this issue that bring up valid points worth discussing are Paul Marx’ “Athlete’s New Day” and Warren Hartenstine’s “College Athletes Should Not Be Paid.” From these articles I have found on the basis of logical,
Well first why are people supporting the gambling of the NFL? Gambling could lead to addiction and fans could get carried away and lose a lot of money. If media covers all the teams and players then gambling occurs with who wins games and the coin toss and all the other main things in a NFL game. Also all the youth players have dreams of getting into the NFL, the media is crushing all those dreams by letting out information about brain injuries and concussions. This crazy action is causing parents to become much more involved with news of the NFL and has blocked their child of playing the game. The media needs to stop with the annoying finger pointing, the annoying blaming, and the annoying small issues that no one cares
Many memories are made in football, but sadly some of the greatest players cannot recall them. The National Football League has been associated with concussions and brain traumas throughout the years, but lately it has been exposed by media and NFL veterans. The league recently “reached a $765 million preliminary settlement with thousands of former players who were suing the league over its treatment of concussions…” (Waldron). Many former players are experiencing the effects of taking hard hits over and over again; they were not properly treated, which makes the injury worse and long term. The concussion issue in the NFL is more prevalent today, because it affects not only the players, but the league as a whole.
Present players in the National Football League disagree with all the protective rules now but when they are no longer playing football it’ll be a different story. Players also tend to forget that they won 't be playing football forever and that they will need to be healthy later on in life when they can no longer play football. It’s not okay for players to complain about the safety rules now, and then later claim the National Football
Football is a game of adversity and emotion. People who have not played a sport or follow one closely don’t understand the emotion behind game. They think that football is just a game, but for those who are involved with the team don’t think so. All those horrendous hours of countless preparation are for something players and coaches love. About a few years ago, a football player at the collegiate level was told that he wouldn’t be able to play another down of football again due to his banged up h...
In recent years the idea of student-athletes getting paid for playing in college has become more and more popular. There have been many instances where questions have been raised surrounding some of the finest athletes participating in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Some of the biggest names in athletics have been involved, including Cam Newton, Reggie Bush, Johnny Manziel, along with many more athletes who have been exposed by the media for supposedly accepting cash benefits while in college. Most recently Johnny Manziel has been brought up in an autograph scandal. Apparently he was paid ten-thousand dollars for more than over one thousand and one hundred autographs. Ultimately Manziel was only suspended one half of a full collegiate football game, but is it really fair that he was forced to sit a half of football game because he simply gave some people his John Hancock? Reggie Bush and Cam Newton have both been involved in scandals involving mone...
When the National Football League first decided to draft college players in 1936, it was always a possibility that a player would not meet the expectations that the team had set for the draftee. These players that don’t play up to potential, are now commonly known as draft busts. Bigger draft busts tend to happen in the first couple of rounds of the nine round draft because the bar is set much higher for these top picks than it is for the latter picks. These players often sign big contracts and don’t pan out as players, getting cut from the team or not playing much time on the field. This hurts the team financially, and economically, when thinking of opportunity costs. After the players still have the money, and frequently get into trouble with the law with offenses dealing with drugs, or other illegal activities. However, not every draft bust breaks the law; some have other career paths as football analysts, or get away from football completely and find other jobs outside sports.
On February 15th, 2014 Ray Rice and Janay Palmer got into a fight which they were then both arrested with simple assault (CNN, 2014). It was only four days later that TMZ released out the videos of what happened that evening. In the video clip it starts off by the two entering in to the elevator. After inside he strikes her repetitively where she then hits her head off the railing after such a traumatic blow to the head and drops to the ground where she is then knocked out. He is then seen to pick her up and drag her out of the elevator until hotel staff stumbles upon the scene. On July 24th, Rice receives a two game suspension for his actions. Only a two game suspension for beating his wife? People all across the world are stunned by the disciplinary action that is released after what was seen from the video. This showed people that obviously the law enforcement does not care about a man beating his wife even if he is a professional athlete, but because he was such a talented athlete it simply did not matter. The NFL did not want to believe what they had seen. Instead they wanted to set it aside and act as if it did not happen, but that was not about to happen. September 8th is a day that will forever be remembered by Ray Rice and his family. That is the day that his football
