Of the lessons of this course, the distinction made between story and situation will be the most important legacy in my writing. I learned a great travel essay cannot be merely its situation: its place, time, and action. It requires a story, the reader’s internal “journey of discovery.” While the importance of establishing home, of balancing summary and scene, and other lessons impacted my writing, this assertion at least in my estimation the core argument of the course.
In his article “Why We Travel,” Paul Theroux talks about how short term travelers, which are people who are traveling for short periods of time, experience the same type of fear that long term travelers and movers encounter. Theroux states, “Throughout history the traveler has been forced to recognize the fact that leaving home means a loss of innocence, encountering uncertainty” (Theroux). For the longest time, in America it was thought that this loss of innocence and encounter with uncertainty was all a part of the experience, and that the risk was well worth the reward. But that theory has long been thrown out the window according to Arthur Brooks, because in his article “How to Get Americans Moving Again,” he writes about an America that is unmoving, and unwilling to travel, partially due to these
While many people consider Mexico well a bad place to live in or visit, in really Mexico is a beautiful country with really interesting history and culture. With many states and cities as options, I’ve decided to to my informative speech on its capital, Mexico City.
There is no arguing Walt Disney practiced what he preached. In fact, he did what he did so well that people continue to bring others to see what he did to this day, that being Disneyland. First, we’ll start by learning about the background history of Disneyland. Next, we’ll compare Disneyland from when it first started to what it has developed into. And finally, we’ll explore all the eight parks and what they have to offer.
Thanks for commenting. I agree with many of you points, however I do not believe that immigrants are taking the jobs of able Americans. Farm work, gardening, and other labor intensive jobs are not be filled by U.S. citizens (possibly having to do with low wages), so why would it be an issue if these immigrants decided to work in these fields? In addition to this, refugees can create their own businesses, so this doesn’t necessarily take jobs away from American workers. Unfortuanely there are many unemployed Americans, however in many cases, it is a matter of multiple applications and having the right skills. If people are not qualified for the job, then obviously it should be given to someone with the proper credentials. If immigrants have these skills then why wouldn’t a company want to hire them, versus someone who is lacking the specific background and or education?
Upon reviewing my speech, I can understand where I need to improve my speaking skills, as well as places where I just need to fine-tune them. I chose to talk about skiing because it is an activity that I look forward to every winter, and knowing I had a trip out west over break I knew I would be able to talk about this topic easily. Although I do think that I gave an effective speech, I think there were many things to learn from the overall content, organization, and delivery of the speech. The content of my speech was an area that I think was adequate for an informative speech.
Wedged between the high wall of the Himalaya and the steamy jungles of the Indian plains, a small land-locked country Nepal is a land of snow peaks and Sherpas, yaks and yetis, monasteries and mantras, situated between India and China. Eight of the world’s ten highest mountain peaks are in Nepal, including Mount Everest. Nepal is the birthplace of Lord Buddha. And, most importantly, Nepal was never ruled by any country, never ever.

If you can’t inundate your friends and family members with pictures, then what good is that trip? A good bag protects your
Unaware of the different customs explored as well as the inability to communicate, these heavy psychological and social situations may cause people to feel uneasy. However, carrying around a camera and taking pictures of what one is experiencing creates a mindset of pleasure and peace. When all gathered up, these photographs create proof or certification that the trip was made, enjoyed, and well carried out. For me, I have always never thought about going on a trip without my high quality professional SONY camera, my iPhone6 with its brilliant zoom lens, as well as my tripod other extra photographic equipment. I have the natural instinct to grab my camera or smartphone and take pictures; not to capture the moment, but rather to avoid myself feeling confused of where I was and what exactly I am looking at or even doing.
It does not emphasize on a hero nor a heroine, but it lists out the reasons why we all should travel while incorporating some of his experiences when traveling abroad. The writer points out different things to consider when travelling. For example, it is mentioned that ‘Travelling consists not only in seeing new places but in seeing with new eyes,’ Instead of just the travel experience itself, the writer used a lot of emotional words and long paragraphs to share his feelings of travelling in general to the readers, and the travel experiences are summed up in short sentences to back up the writer’s thoughts and feelings regarding travelling. In addition to the content, the style of the article resembles a one-sided argumentative essay, ‘arguing’ about the pros and cons of travelling.
There is nothing quite like traveling, going someplace new and finding out more about the world and yourself. Anyone can become a traveler it just takes a little bit of faith and courage. Traveling across the world or even across the country is a learning experience. When you are a traveler you see how people live and how different cultures work. It is the best educational experience you could give yourself. You see how the world works in a way no one can teach you. Seeing different cultures and people help build the person you want to be. If you are a traveler the world influences you, because when traveling, you see the good and the bad, and you learn from the right and the wrong. I am very lucky that I am able to be a traveler and see this
