What is the best type of education that will set you up for success in life? Education is the process of giving or receiving systematic instruction especially in a school or college. There are two types of education, formal and informal. A formal education typically consists of classroom based teaching by trained individuals. Formal schooling takes place in a defined location and time frame. Often it must meet government regulations and standards. The culmination results in the receiving of a diploma or degree. Formal education typically begins in early child hood and ends in early adult hood. This type of education improves humankind both intellectually and ethically. With informal education, you are at times the teacher or the student or even at times both. Informal education is often conversation based. It could also happen in any setting and it involves exploring and enlarging experiences. Informal education begins with parents teaching their babies to walk and talk, continues through adolescence with lessons in morality and driving, and then through adulthood by teaching their adult children parenting skills. If you visit a museum or zoo you would be learning informally. The most common type of informal learning for adults is on the job training. This type of education or training involves having a co-worker or boss teach employees how to perform their job duties. With informal education, there are no graded assignments, tests, or diplomas to be earned. Examples of informal education in my life have occurred through the interest in my hobbies: building drones, fishing and hunting. My knowledge base in my hobbies was gained from countless hours spent with my dad and watching YouTube
