What is the best type of education that will set you up for success in life? Education is the process of giving or receiving systematic instruction especially in a school or college. There are two types of education, formal and informal. A formal education typically consists of classroom based teaching by trained individuals. Formal schooling takes place in a defined location and time frame. Often it must meet government regulations and standards. The culmination results in the receiving of a diploma or degree. Formal education typically begins in early child hood and ends in early adult hood. This type of education improves humankind both intellectually and ethically. With informal education, you are at times the teacher or the student or even at times both. Informal education is often conversation based. It could also happen in any setting and it involves exploring and enlarging experiences. Informal education begins with parents teaching their babies to walk and talk, continues through adolescence with lessons in morality and driving, and then through adulthood by teaching their adult children parenting skills. If you visit a museum or zoo you would be learning informally. The most common type of informal learning for adults is on the job training. This type of education or training involves having a co-worker or boss teach employees how to perform their job duties. With informal education, there are no graded assignments, tests, or diplomas to be earned. Examples of informal education in my life have occurred through the interest in my hobbies: building drones, fishing and hunting. My knowledge base in my hobbies was gained from countless hours spent with my dad and watching YouTube
Today education has an endless amount of definitions which are correct in certain aspects of society, but most leave out the one part of education that is truly vital. That is the concept of real life experiences. The debate on what it means to be educated has been going on for centuries, yet the answer isn’t esoteric at all! Kennedy was elected president in the year of 1961. Which was during the time that the Cold War was in full swing. The Cold War being the tension filled era between the superpowers in the east and the superpowers in the west. Contrary to the other two presidents, JFK was not speaking to the American public at the time of the war 's conclusion but right near the middle of the 40 plus year issue. Regardless he was assuring the public. He stated, “...that the torch has been passed to a new generation of American-”. That optimism cannot be matched. Not only that but he attempts to inspire Americans when he says “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”, which was definitely a knock at the Russians. JFK overall had this persona about him. This was the speech where muttered that historic and uplifting quote, “And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country.” His message of peace and coexisting really stand the test of
Hence, through various rhetorical strategies, Kennedy achieves his purpose of gaining the spectators’ favor through stressing major current events that concerned the American people. These significant concepts include American patriotism and American diplomacy, stressed when he begins four consequent paragraphs with the same recurring three words, “Let both sides.” Kennedy’s brilliant use of pathos, parallelism, antithesis, and varied syntax successfully convey his ambitions and hopes for America, as it makes Kennedy’s speech a very memorable one in history.
In conclusion, this speech was structured beautifully. Its use of figurative and expressive language makes it an unforgettable speech. Kennedy does a great job of using pathos, ethos, and logos to reiterate his commitment to the American public as well as discuss expected changes. Given the state of the world at the time of his inauguration, the decision to rely so heavily on pathos and ethos was a wise one which got the job done. His use of the rhetoric triangle effectively conveys Kennedy’s plan for America to not only her citizens, but to the world.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States of America was the youngest man to ever win the Presidential election at the age of 43. He was a well liked president, known for his youthfulness, high spirits and the commitments he made to the Unites States (O’Brien). During his inaugural speech, he stated that the U.S. would pledge “to convert our good words into good deeds” by forming alliances with the countries that border us. In order to prosper as a nation (“The Avalon”). President Kennedy had several great plans for this country and knew they “will not be finished in the first 100 days. Nor will it be finished in the first 1,000 days, nor in the life of this Administration, nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin” (“The Avalon”). Unfortunately, these plans were not carried out to their full extent because while riding in an open parade car in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963, Kennedy was shot and killed. Kennedy did suffer hard times as far as international affairs go, but he is known for The Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty and the Alliance for Progress (“John”).
Kennedy might have had his head in the clouds when preforming this speech, no man could have accomplished all that he set out to do in such a short time, but that was not the point. As Kennedy stood on that podium in Washington D.C. and the world tuned in to hear him, they weren’t listening for every flaw they could find. They were looking for someone to stand up there and let them hear what they had been missing for so long now. And as he wrapped up his speech, he was doing it. Kennedy was able to look right at every American, whether a hawk, a dove, or anywhere in the middle, and connect to them. In writing the speech, he wanted it to be brief but powerful and focus on foreign policy and to unite all American citizens by pointing out their common values and ethics such as equal rights; beliefs in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; and hard work. The screeching decibels of my alarm clock woke me at five-thirty that morning. Football practice the day before completely destroyed my body leaving my arms and legs almost unmovable. Firstly, informal learning can be connected with the history of school by the fact that the concepts are completely opposite. In the olden days schools were equated to factories, where the superintendent was considered the boss, teachers were considered the employees, and students were the products. This mentality created classes that were taught with the notion that punctuality, order, and regularity are what lead to equity and success. (Siebert-Evenstone,2016) Schools were very strict and formal, with the teacher being in absolute control and the centre of learning. Learning was either from a text or lecture, with the expectation that students were to repeat the given information either orally or in written form. This old formal concept of teaching is very dissimilar from informal learning, because informal learning is often unstructured, student directed, voluntary and inquiry-driven. Secondly, informal learning is connected with constructivism. Constructivism is a learning theory that suggests that individuals construct what they learn and understand. (Siebert-Evenstone,2016) The concept of constructivism is similar to what informal learning spaces try to promote. For example: constructivism emphasizes,the belief that learners need to contribute to their own learning, and that social interaction is important in the development of skills and knowledge. (Siebert-Evenstone,2016) This is like informal learning spaces because these spaces also encourage self-inquiry and socialization. At the zoo the learner decides what information he or she wants to learn. The learner can chose to either go to a certain exhibit within the zoo or not. The learner is also able to interact with and observe other people at the zoo to gain for knowledge of the
IEP stands for Individualized Education Program. An IEP is a written document required for each child who is eligible to receive special education services. It is provided to a student who has been determined first to have a disability, and second, to need special education services because of that disability. An IEP is very important and should never be overlooked by anyone. For long periods of time, education has been important to the development the different scientific, moral and ethical fields of the humanity. In addition, it has been recognized by some governments as a human right, but in some places around the world; education is not accessible for everyone. Many people believe that having an educational system without any cost would mean a better educated society, whereas others argue that this would not be possible. To develop a better educated society, governments should establish a totally free education system for the following three reasons.
The more unequal the United States’ education system will grow, the more our poverty line will struggle. Most people believe that hiring tutors or staying long hours after school will help, but little do they realize that all of that can be avoided if every child is given the opportunity to an inexpensive early education. An implemented universal early education program would contribute to a rise in grades, keep families connected, and hope for a better future.
