Reading Attitude of young people and how social media encourage reading Reading is a complex construct, and it is difficult to capture what exactly is involved when a reader decodes words and understands the meaning of text (Hosp & Suchey, 2014). Reading comprises multidimensional sub-processes that include the understanding that symbols have meaning and the ability to decode these symbols to form words. Primarily, reading is a language skill and reading disorders are traditionally evaluated from language processing perspective (Swanson & Hoskyn, 1998).
As time goes by, invented things evolved from time to time and we now got the called social media that the young people got addicted to. So, we can guarantee that social media has played a big part in their past time every day; it’s where they get new information and other new ideas on what’s going on the society or the world. Young people are mainly active in using social media as their tool in reading. There is a high level access to mobile phones, computers and tablet devices. This means that reading is an activity more likely to be on screen than on the printed page. There is an improvement of young people when it comes to online reading. Students are used to read online because of the positive effects that they can get through it. There are positive aspects of engaging in social media, the first one is, students can freely access to the online resources that can help them learn and discover new ideas and other information.
