From generation to generation a great deal of differences evolves. The story In Praise of Fast Food touched up on the evolution of fresh food. While evaluating this story, I found the evolution of fresh food, and the evolution of fresh food between cultures.
1- When first reading the title In Praise of Fast Food I thought the story would have some correlation to fast food. The fast food I can purchase from a fast food restaurant for example McDonalds, Subway, or Arbys. Also, the convince of being able to order food and the restaurant preparing the food in the matter of minutes. However, the title as I found through the story dealt with more on how fast food was available. In correlation, to the availability of fast fresh food. To some degree the title fulfilled some of my expectations’. For example, the author mentions the convivence of having food available in stores or markets what otherwise would have taken longer to make at home. On page 306 paragraph two “In the first half of the 20th century, Italians embraced factory-made pasta and canned tomatoes. In the second half, Japanese women welcomed factory-made bread because they could sleep a little longer instead of getting up to make rice”. Evaluations of culture is where someone makes judgments about how we eat, work, travel, or live in communities. The author touches upon this by stating her opinions on the history of fresh fast food. She states on page 306 that her mother even though having complaints she could at least purchase bread. On the other hand, there where women in Mexico who would have to spent five hours per day at a grindstone preparing the dough for tortillas.
