There are many different ways in which I could improve my communication style. Although I could list a few, the main one that I believe would improve my overall communication with others, is both confidence, and clarity. In all aspects of my life, I find myself being shyer than others. This shows most prominently when I communicate with my peers, and find myself not expressing my opinion as strongly as I had intended on doing. When I think of communication, the first thing that comes to mind is camp. While being a councillor for a group of kids, you must be able to communicate with the campers, as well as other staff, in order to ensure safety for everyone throughout each day. I believe if I was more confident, and clear with my expectations
In every society nonverbal communication is one of the most powerful tools that a person can use to interpret the message that is being delivered. Even though verbal communication is fairly straightforward, nonverbal communication allows others to sense the true emotions of the person that is expressing them. For example even though a person may say that they are not irritated, their usage of voice may display otherwise. Nonverbal communication not only reveals hidden messages, but it also complements, substitutes, and exaggerates verbal communication.

While I do not lack interpersonal and social (people) skills, these areas to consider for improvement. To be an effective leader, one must be able to communicate well within small and large groups. An effective leader must have effective social judgement skills. While I do not lack self-confidence or the other traits that are needed for great leaders, I do realize the need to enhance my communication skills significantly to become a greater leader. Ways to enhance and develop my communication and social skills as leader are to be more self-aware, to know and understand different audiences and their communication needs, to be clear and specific in communication efforts, and interpret body language. To be self- aware is to recognize and understand one’s beliefs, values, strength and weaknesses. By knowing and understanding my areas of needed improvement, I am becoming more self-aware and I can progress in the areas of weaknesses. Self-aware also means being in tune with surrounding and being able to analyze and understand my part in different situations. Additionally, being able to adjust and adapt communication to different audiences helps to increase effective communication, as deliver multiple messages allow for more communication efforts. There are many things that will help you communicate more efficiently. There are certain skills, knowledge about communication, and self-evaluation that need to be addressed to be a competent communicator. Effective interpersonal communication exists when the receiver interprets the sender's message the way the sender intended it. So in order for you to achieve this you must think of how you want your message to be received before you tell the person and then adjust how the actual message is transferred. You should always be aware of how the receiver is interpreting and processing your message. The way to be sure is to continually ask for feedback as to what meanings the receiver is attaching to your messages. Concentrate on listening to what the other person is saying and make your message personal according to the person. Making it personal also means making your message appropriate to the receiver's frame of reference. For instance the same message may vary if you are speaking to your boss or coworker rather than your best friend. Make your messages specific and comprehensive. When speaking, include all of the essential information the receiver ne...
Communication is something we all humans use. Communication “is the sharing of information between individuals by using speech”. People have ways of communicating some have their weaknesses in conversations and others have their strengths. When I communicate with others I feel that some things I say I do not verbalize right. I have two strengths and three weaknesses in my communicating. My three weakens in my communication are, check nonverbal feedback, to make people wrong and recognize that people understand information in different ways and my two strengths in my communication are being flexible, and take responsibility for the communication.
It is actually the worst side of me that I need to change for good. To be such a passive or introvert person but indeed you are actually a very talkative person is really ashamed. It feels like somehow I am being another character side of me that I don’t even like it. However, in a good perspective way to look at my poor communication skills, I get to learn how to gain my self-confidence privately or most probably in public and to avoid misunderstanding situation as well. There were saying that we need to take advantage of every opportunity to practice your communication skills so that when important occasions arise, you will have the gift, the style, the sharpness, the clarity, and the emotions to affect other people (Rohn, 2009) and this beautiful words really motivated and inspired me to improve my communication skills. During the course of this semester; the variety of writing styles and essays assigned to me in my communication skills class encouraged the development of my writing skills, as well as provided me with more self-assurance in my abilities. My writing, research, and presentation abilities enhanced through practice, determination, and the understanding I gained during this course. With every single writing assignment, I learned new innovative approaches and skills, which enhanced my abilities to improve my thoughts logically, enabling me to write more clearly, and to organize my papers more effectively. At the beginning of this semester; despite the fact that I already knew the terminology MAP: message, audience, purpose; I never really understood the significance of MAP. For this reason, my writing lacked clarity, organization, and my writings appeared less focused on the topics. As a result my research papers and essays did not flow as smoothly from one passage to the next. Furthermore, I was unaccustomed with the precise procedures used when writing an essay. For instance, my previous classes before college, although requiring a reference page, did not require me to include proper citations in my writings. After evaluating the quality of my writing toward the end of the semester, I recognized vast improvements in several areas of my writing. By concentrating on the beginning stages of my writings, I could distinguish ahead of time my audience and my message. As a result, my essays are clear, and I remain on topic. In addition to that using transition phrases efficiently also helps my writing to flow smoothly. The proper use of transitions makes my writings easy to follow from one topic to the next. I also learned that pre-writing...

Lots of people thinks that they know themselves very well; they have a right way of communication, they know how to listen and respond to others, even emotional intelligence. Is this what you thought? I did. However after I have done my observe behavior interview to my friends, I believe that self-reflection is important to everyone to understand and improve our own communication styles.
Improving my communication skills has been a work in progress starting back in the early years of my life. I have always been my own worse critic. Usually beating myself down through interpersonal communication. Now as an adult I have made great improvements but still have trouble dealing with perception and self-image. Not being raised in an environment of positive reinforcement and poor communication in the workplace I have made it a point to change that trait in my own family and professional environment.
From a general perspective reflecting learning helps us to question our past actions/motives in hopes to better ourselves from the views and assumptions that limit our lives. Fundamentally, reflective practices can be comprehended as ‘consciously thinking about and analysing what one has done (or is doing)(….) ’(. Mezirow, 1991; Rolfe, Freshwater & Jasper (2001) ‘explains reflective learning as a process that allows individuals to look back over experiences, allowing them to reflect upon them, which in term gives them the ability to make sense of them’. Reflective thinking is an important skill to attain in regards to higher learning and professional work/career, because as mentioned earlier it advances ones skills to question and evaluate
Communication plays a big role in the person that I am today. I changed myself to be a better communicator by looking people in the eyes when I speak to them and talking more, which led me to be a more outgoing person. I made myself overcome my shyness by looking people in the eyes and talking more to them. I also made myself a more outgoing person by the way that I communicated with others. The first thing that I did to become a more outgoing person was to look people in the eyes when I spoke to them.
.... I have a plan in order to maintain growth and development in all three types of communication. Primarily and most obviously, I must consciously practice all of the skills and knowledge I have learned. Secondly, not being afraid to ask for, and accept, constructive feedback from others will be a huge contributor to recognizing and following up with needs for improvement in any communication areas. Finally, sharing what skills and knowledge I have gained in this class with others will help to improve and maintain my own communication skills by surrounding myself with an environment filled with people who are also competent communicators. The more people who understand effective communication, the better the understanding between each person in society overall. I hope to follow through with all of these propositions to become an even better communicator in the future.
