To people who don’t understand, Youtube can be a waste of time but to me, it is a door of possibility. It lead me to think creatively on my own. It also inspired me to come up with dreams and goals that I did not think of before. Technology has always been a vital essential to my life. Youtube has shown me that with technology I can bring my ideas to fruition. After extracting what I learned from Youtube, it encouraged me to participate in an engineering program, and with the knowledge I gained I was able to design and construct a successful portable charger for my smart phone.
I first got into Youtube on my birthday. I turned 10 years old that day, I walked into my room and my family surprised me. I then noticed a small gift wrapped box. When I opened it I was elated to find an 1st generation iPod touch. After the my celebration I

When it came time to start the project our teacher handed us a paper with a diagram on top and said the following, “This diagram only shows you what needs to be connected not where it 's supposed to go, the design is all up to you.” When he left the board it took me a few seconds to realize that I was stuck. I didn’t want my design to mimic the diagram, but at the same time I didn’t know how I was going to change it based on my design. It took me about 5 days (120 minutes per day) to finally complete the project. Out of 30 projects 10 turned out to be successful, and mines was one of them. My design was simplistic at the least, but it was effective in its task to charge a smartphone and to this day still works. Doing this project made me realize that my creativity needed improvement just as much as my decision making skills. This experience did not discourage me in the slightest bit. No, this experience has only fueled my lust for engineering and drives me to challenge myself to come up with more intricate designs and
Those videos can even be shared on other forms of social media like Facebook and Twitter. According to The Telegraph’s article How YouTube changed the world, they state that “The online video behemoth has become the world’s third most-visited website, after Google and Facebook” (How YouTube changed the world). This website has thousands of videos that anyone with access to the it and internet can view. In the same article, they explain that Youtube has been the birthplace of some celebrities in the music, fashion, and video game scenes. (How YouTube changed the world). Because of how easy it is for a person to watch these videos and share them from all across the world, American culture, and other cultures can be spread to each other. It is almost like the United States in a website, where a wide variety of people share their different beliefs, and can influence, or inform others of what they have to show, or
The project ended up not being particularly valuable for me in the sense that the change was never really able to become permanent. This is most likely directly because I did not strictly adhere to my change plan either by choice or by extenuating circumstance. The project has shown me that in order for a difficult change to be made it has to be an incredibly high priority. My change ended up not being as high on my priority list as studying for exams or going out with friends when I had limited time around exams which was ultimately the downfall of my change.
Are technology and the media shedding the very fabric of the existence we have known? As technology and the media spread their influence, the debate over the inherent advantages and disadvantages intensifies. Although opinions vary widely on the subject, two writers offer similar views: Professor Sherry Turkle, director of the MIT Initiative on Technology and Self, in her article “Can You Hear Me Now” and Naomi Rockler-Gladen, who formerly taught media studies at Colorado State University, with her article “Me Against the Media: From the Trenches of a Media Lit Class.” Turkle asserts that technology has changed how people develop and view themselves, while at the same time affecting their concepts of time management and focus (270). Similarly, Rockler-Gladen believes media and its inherent advertising have had a profound effect on the values and thinking of the public (284). I could not agree more with Professor Turkle and Ms. Rockler-Gladen; the effects technology and media have worried and annoyed me for quite so time. The benefits of technology and media are undeniable, but so then are the flaws. People are beginning to shift their focus away from the physical world to the virtual world as they find it easier and more comfortable. The intended purpose of technology and media was to be a tool to improve the quality of life, not shackles to tie people to their devices. I no longer recognize this changed world and long for the simple world of my youth.
Technology is one of the most important things in everyone’s life. Technology improves every day. in regards to today’s youth, they were born with all the new technological inventions as opposed to our parents. In “Quality Time, Redefined” by Alex Williams, published in the New York Times, the author talks about the positive and negative effects on technology. I enjoyed this reading because it related my personal day to day life. Even though some Americans acknowledge that technology is a part of their everyday life, they do not see the negative outcome of technology, they are blinded only by the positive aspects.
This was a multi-year project during a time in which I was taking AP classes, playing varsity volleyball and starting up and leading a new club at my high school. Because this was such a busy time in my life, I was forced to learn how to manage my time and prioritize tasks.
YouTube is a network of videos that anyone in the world can view. Two popularly watched people who post videos to YouTube, or YouTubers as they are called, are Connor Franta and Zoe Sugg. Although their career paths are similar, they are very different. The videos they produce fit into opposite genres, they live across the world from each other, and are members of different varieties of channels. The objective of this paper is to compare and contrast these two YouTubers and their styles and lives.
I think the project that most impacted me as a learner was the memorial project. This projected made me grow as a learner because I had to work with someone that I had never worked with before. When we started just getting a topic that we both wanted to do was the first thing that made me realize that this project was going make me need to use and learn some new skills. My partner and I had some trouble with trying to come up with a design to show everything we wanted to show for our topic. We had to be patient with each other making sure the we both listing to each other and understanding what and why they wanted to do this. We also has some trouble with communication because we didn’t completely understand what the other wanted making ti hard to finalize our design. Another thing with communication was who was doing what my partner didn’t always know what to do so we would sometimes end up wasting time trying to find something for her to do that she wanted to do. Communicating was something that I really improved on for this project teaching me how to be more specific with what I say so that we don’t get confused later. Over all I think that this memorial project as the one that made me use more of the learner profile skills then any other and helped me improve one one as
When I went to Back to School night to put my supplies in my desk. At first, I didn’t even notice my teacher in the classroom but on the way out she greeted us while we were leaving. My mom told her about me and she was just like “Wow! I can’t believe I’m going to have someone who is good at technology in my classroom.” I was good at technology at the time and even still today.
Figuring out how to start a project has always been a constant challenge for me. If I end up starting a project, it tends to be at the last minute and usually ends very badly for me because of my lack of proper planning and preparation. Last school year, I took a ceramics class and I didn't make any projects on the wheel until the last week rolled around. The end goal was to produce about fourteen different shapes and sizes of pots within one week or else I would fail. Of course, I managed to finish them all but I was unsatisfied with the quality and how they turned out. Unfortunately, I didn't get the grade I wanted in ceramics.
My first encounter with computers (as far as I can remember) was when my next door neighbors got their very first Apple. I can remember going over to their house and begging to play on their computer. All I wanted to play with was the paint-brush program because I thought it was the neatest thing to be able to move something with your hand and have a picture created for you on the screen according to what your hand did. It was very cool!
After this project I would seriously consider not doing any projects in my classroom. But I need to remember this is only one experience (and my first one at that.) Not all projects need to go this way. Having had this experience can help me make sure I don’t have similar ones in my classroom.
In addition to this the internet has affected my life in that it allows me to be bold and create something amazing without anyone’s permission. Back in the pre internet age in order to learn and progress at something you had to either to read an often times outdated book, or find someone to teach you the information. Once you obtained enough knowledge about your craft you had to work under someone in somewhat of an apprenticeship and were essentially not allowed to move up in the industry until they deemed you fit to do so. You had to have someone else’s permission to progress further in your work. Today the internet allows anyone to create something amazing, and the low barrier to entry makes it so that no one has an excuse to not be great. Two college kids created the website Reddit with nothing but a laptop, an internet connection, and some Ramen noodles, and today the site gets over 8 Billion visits a month! Such a duo wouldn’t have even been an afterthought without the power of the
This was a long-term design project, and everything was fresh to me. Patience was the crucial and essential factor that was needed in such a long project in my view. Fortunately, I learned and gained the patience. Besides, communication was another extremely significant factor. It was essential to communicate and discuss with the pathway tutors and the course mates regularly, for the information of the tutor was the most useful advice in the process of major project. Overall, I achieved these two important factors which also could be described as strengths.
World has become a “global village” due to social media. Communication gap has been removed from excessive using of social media.
Then my dad brought me home a new computer. Man, I was excited! I waited outside for what seemed like hours for him to come home with it. It was a 486 with a 33 MHz processor, double speed CD-ROM drive, and 2400-baud modem. I was finally going to learn this new
