Working in a demanding healthcare environment as an on-going student can be rather challenging & stressful. To achieve success and satisfaction, various strategies are required to be on board. Effective communication is an essential part of constructing good staff-patient and staff-colleague relationships particularly in intricate situations (O’Toole, 2008). In circumstances where imaging-services are performed on patients suffering from multi-traumatic injuries, the requirement to perform under-pressure along with providing the best possible service to our clients and their family can be quite difficult to accomplish. Mental, emotional and physical exhaustion can occur following involvement in a demanding procedure leading to work-related stress (Ehrlich & Coakes, 2013). This essay will present a thorough self-reflection of a similar event I encountered in the clinical-workplace and analysing of my management to the situation. This will be presented by applying the Gibbs-(1988) Model of Reflection (Appendix A) which I believe is the most effective in reflecting my experience, it enables me to identify patterns related to my management of the situation and assists me to make decisions for tackling such circumstances in the future. Along with the Gibbs Reflective Model, the Mātatika Mātai Ora (MMO) is one such framework which assists in forming an in-depth analysis of my efficiency regarding the management of the situation. The MMO framework has been adapted from the Te Ara Tika Māori Research Ethics framework to assist medical imaging students applying a Māori-ethical framework to clinical-practice (Appendix B). The objective behind this framework is to form an ethical and well-justified practice to ensure the safety of both our... ... middle of paper ... ...s and desires. Likewise, if the situation arose again to manage a highly anxious and difficult client or family: I would be prepared to learn as much as possible about child suffering from trauma and the emotional challenges associated with such clients beforehand, discuss the procedure and formulate a plan with a qualified staff before commencing the examination, and propose to challenge myself to develop professionally by working on a variety of cases so when a similar event occurs in future I have adequate strategies in place to complete the procedure without any complications (Queensland Government, 2013). I believe achieving the areas mentioned will help to improve my skills in such situations in the healthcare setting. The timeframe identified for the areas needed to be achieved should be accomplished before the completion of Semester Two of my Second Year.
The focus of this model is for leadership to empower staff members with opportunities, information, support, and resources to facilitate engaged relationships that, in the long run, will facilitate staff in empowering patients by providing opportunities, support, information, and resources to reflect on their well-being. Opportunities being referred to in this model are training opportunities; training trauma-informed care. The model also requires that information be provided to increase understanding that behaviours such as self-harm in patients, can be as a result of a neurobiological response to trauma. In this way, the model follows patient centred care since it looks at the patients’ needs for effective treatment. Information about patient preferences is utilized to come up with a comprehensive list of physical, emotional, and cognitive responses to stress. The list focuses on triggers that can cause stress, calming activities and past experiences with restraint and seclusion. This follows quality improvement competency since patient data analysis enables the staff to come up with a better way to treat them. The model also emphasizes on teamwork by enhancing support. The theme of support refers to a collaboration between the staff and the leadership. Collaboration is achieved in schedule meeting and during shifts. There’s also the need for availability of patient’s

You are likely to see a lot of injuries and scenarios play out among patients that have been admitted to the hospital. There are many achievements in this field that you may accomplish. My learning experience within inter-professional was very productive. I personally learned about working in collaboration with other professionals. My first impression was the first seminar which took place in the auditorium with a group of students from different professionals in health care sector. The actual seminar was a very good preparation for me and everyone who is in health professionals. The seminar gave me a very understanding of my future practice. It prepared me well on what to expect as I was not aware of the purpose of mixing different students from different professionals. The outcome of the seminar gave me a clear understanding and gave me opportunity to meet other student. During the seminar, I learned the best way to work
Employee psychological health is something that should be taken into consideration when a person can improve the outcome of new graduate nurses and seasoned nurses alike; this is something that I know I will continue to strive for creating healthy working environments for staff and myself. Using many of the techniques that have been researched and continue to keep abreast of the most current research will aid in achieving the most positive outcome for staff and patients. I know that while I have not been subjected to this situation personally, it is something that can happen to anyone and with the use of stress relieving interventions on a daily basis will hopefully be able to defuse a potential situation before it arises. While it is not always easy to embrace my character flaws, I feel that if I continually strive to incorporate a positive environment for myself and staff that positive results will ensue from

Nurses Joe and Sarah have been working in a medical surgical unit that has been experiencing a nursing shortage, which has led to an increase in the workload. Sarah has been feeling the physical effects of the stress and feels there is a lack of management support, while Joe experiences some feelings of being overwhelmed, but tries to use it as learning experiences. Joe has developed positive methods of coping, while Sarah is quickly heading towards burnout. Implications and Conclusions The information provided in the literature has great implications for practice in many units, including the writers. It is with great hopes that the research published can be presented to the committees on the unit in hopes that some of the workloads can be decreased to help with staffing and retention rates.
The purpose of this essay is to reflect upon the teamwork and communication within the multi- disciplinary environment of the theatre suite. I will follow a patient on their journey along the Patient pathway, from their arrival in the anaesthetic room, through to them being handed over to the recovery staff. The patient pathway is described by the Department of Health (2007) as a timeline, on which every event relating to treatment can be entered. Events such as consultations, diagnosis, treatment, medication, diet, assessment and discharge can be mapped on this timeline. In this essay, I will use the Johns 1994 mode of reflection. The purpose of reflection, as stated by Johns (1994) is to promote desirable practice through the practitioners understanding and learning about their lived experiences. Patient trust and confidentiality will be maintained throughout, the patient referred to as Mrs X and any details will be improvised.
The purpose of this essay is to reflect and critically study an incident from a clinical setting whilst using a model of reflection. This will allow me to analyse and make sense of the incident and draw conclusions relating to personal learning outcomes. The significance of critical analysis and critical incidents will briefly be discussed followed by the process of reflection using the chosen model. The incident will then be described and analysed and the people involved introduced. (The names of the people involved have been changed to protect their privacy) and then I will examine issues raised in light of the recent literature relating to the incident. My essay will include a discussion of communication, interpersonal skills used in the incident, and finally evidence based practice. I will conclude with explaining what I have learned from the experience and how it will change my future actions.
This essay is going to reflect upon the nursing skills I developed during a period of placement simulations, placing emphasis on oral care, communication with a non-engaging patient and bed bath. It will outline the fundamental aspects of clinical nursing skills that I have begun to acquire. This will also highlight the learning processes which took place and how it helped me to enhance my knowledge, and ethical values in order to deliver quality and safety of care. Using a variety of sources from current literature, I will use a reflective model to discuss how I have achieved the necessary level of learning outcome. By utilising this model I hope to demonstrate my knowledge and understanding in relation to these skills as well as identifying areas with scope for learning.
Recently, regardless of how good technologies are nowadays, how modern the universe can be using the creativeness and intelligence of human’s mind, we must always not forget to communicate with one another every day. Communication is define as the act of transferring information from one place to another. It may be in a form of vocally, written, visually or non-verbally (skillsyouneed.com, 2017). As for me, the ability to communicate effectively is the most importance of all life skills. This is what I have been struggling in my daily routine life as an international student here in Dublin, Ireland. Back in Malaysia, my first language is Malay, but when I came here for the first time, I found it quite difficult as English is not
Olivia as the client, was feeling overwhelmed due to having responsibilities in many separate aspects of her life. Including but not limited to her school, family, friends and new fitness goals. As the counsellor I aimed to help the client come up with a strategy that would not only incorporate all of her responsibilities but allow time to take for herself as well. Doing so, will greatly reduce Olivia’s stress. In order to implement a plan I used multiple techniques to acquire information and insight about the client, as well as her present situation. Throughout the phases of counselling I used the problem solving process, this will help the client manage and save her time. I also exhibited exploring and probing to gain insight about client. Various types of questions were also used including, open-ended questions, close-ended questions and coping questions. I also used the technique of empowering the client to make a change. I accomplished this by highlighting the client’s resources she already obtains. Completing this assignment allowed me to analyze my strengths, along with also allowing me to see the areas that need improvement including leading and advice giving. Overall this assignment allowed me to critically analyze my clinical practice and how far I have come since first beginning at Georgian
The lived experience of managing for results in social services among key professionals emerged from summarizing and reflecting on the naïve reading, the sub-themes, and themes, all meaning that managing for results in social services mimic the experience of putting a jigsaw puzzle together where each piece has its own special place, but the puzzle can´t be fulfilled since those who put together the puzzle not pre-agreed on which the puzzle is to be pieced together those puzzles do not agree on which the puzzle is to be pieced together. In order to solve the puzzle, all involved has to feel that the chosen puzzle is meaningful and valuable piecing together meaning that it is first when the puzzle is solved that the wholeness can be understood. This overarching meaning incorporates the complexity in the lived experience of managing for results in social services together with a path for the future, desiring a more pre-agreed arena

Then I will discuss about what I can do to improve the group and the things about group project if there is a chance for a start over again. At last, I am also going to talk about what I think that I learned is an important lesson in this semester.
